About 20 turns into new game trying to trade some techs and the game crashes to desktop. I knew I should of went out for my birthday.

We're having some trouble with the TALaunch.exe on Vista, so that's why it's not launching the launcher from SDC.

Did it install the icons in the Games Explorer for you?

TA launches from SDC fine. It's just that by default, no launch icon is put on the desktop. I made my own shortcut to TALaunch.exe and it works fine. I'm embarrassed to say I never thought to look in Games Explorer. But, after you mentioned it, I checked and all that's there is a launcher for DL: no DA and no TA.

I got a confirmation mail just a minute ago Oh my that was fast. Thanks Stardock.

Immense Galaxies! COOL! I have always enjoyed epic-huge scenarios.

I've been wondering what is the grandest (most-uber?) hardware the devs have available?

I recently had a lightning strike, moving up my plans for upgrades sooner than planned. I ended up going with a QX6600 @ ~2.9GHz on an ASUS P5W-DH, MSI NX8600GT, and a Samsung 244T 24" LCD. The game plays and look great at 1920x1200! But I'd really like to see the game on a 30" LCD at 2550x1600 rez. I've been able to verify that the game seems to use all 4 CPU cores, but to what extent I'm not sure.

Playing against only two races is weird. Im not sure I even know how to do it. Curses, I'm a Noob again!

Wow, all the races are awesome now can't wait until they are all fully updated, love the new updates so far, keep them coming

I like the sector number at the top of the main screen, though I think I would have started at the bottom left. That's what's left from algebra.
Whatever. I like the sector numbers! I think the sectors start with 0, not 1. Makes computer sense to me.

Yes, you can post AARs and make all the people who didn't pre-order jealous.

For the love of god Stardock, do tell you plan to change the Planet Buildings menu for the better with TA? Alphabetical order and a list with gigazillion different buildings just is not very... elegant?

Maybe separate different building classes with color boxes or something, this was the main annoyance with DA UI, atleast for me.

Yep, just need a fleet range boosting component and carriers will pretty much be in TA. Without one, I'll have to classify them as pretty much mobile military starbases.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Would you mind explaining?

I agree. I never did get around to commenting on it back in DA betas, but I wanted more categories. For example, one for trade good, one for galatic wonders, one for 1 per planet structures (starports, power planets, etc), and maybe one for the player to customize.

1. Read your post twice before you post. It'll help you to notice that you pressed cap locks, and made a few gramical errors.
2. These "carriers" you speak of sound more like supports ships to me.

Oh... my... god...

I'm so not letting that kid near my computer!

He acts like he's possessed by comical version of Hitler's ghost.

Warning! This may hurt your ears.

Technically, carriers ARE support ships. I think he's right, blatant abuse of grammar aside (also.... gramical? )... you have to fleet the other ships with the carrier ("dock" them), but then they recieve the bonuses from being carried around this way (enhanced speed, damage, etc, depending on carrier setup).

I'll certainly be calling my support ships "Carriers".

Agree 100% I said the same thing with DA! There are just too many at times, thought of the same solution too, different building classes with color boxes! You my friend are BRILLIANT! 6 beers in an easy carrying case brilliant!

I see the point, but I think I prefer command ship vice carrier. I was stationed on a carrier, and to me, if it isn't actually carrying/launching ships, it doesn't work for me as a carrier.

I'm just going with command ship, as that makes the most sense; considering that it won't be able to launch/recover ships. A battlegroup doesn't always have a carrier, but still has a chain of command.

Then again, maybe I'll just call it Fleet Support, since it will probably be gimped and have fewer fighting abilities.

Planet Textures no longer generated...use pre-made textures (only 5 textures for Beta 1)

Although this would undoubtedly allow a talented artist to make cool planets - I am concerned that it might lead to a lack of variety. Perhaps the most important planets can be textured manually, and less important planets use generated textures?

To be honest, the randomly generated maps didn't have that much variety. They were far too bland looking to be individually distinct.
