LordKosc presents... Lost EDEN! Beta 3 , 2vs2 map!

2v2 game, the race for eden begins....

My first 2v2 map for Beta 3, more will come as time permits and suggestions come in... Give me feedback! <3

FYI all players start with 4000 credits, 2000 metal, and 1500 crystal, this has made the usually slow start of the game SUPER fast... Eden is at the other end of this system, it a fully upgraded Terran Home Planet, who ever claims it first will probably win the game? Maybe... Maybe not...

This photo is of the map layout, the map has 2-3 tweaks (plant position, phase lane layout) to it since I took the picture, it is around 95% accurate!

Install instructions:
Download the map (it's called Lost Eden.galaxy) and put it in the galaxy folder in your sins of a solar empire folder (C:\Games\Stardock\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy).

****** REMEMBER all players must have this map installed to be able to play it! ************

Have fun, let me know what you'd be interested in for my next map... I'll keep them 1vs1 or 2vs2 for now... They take awhile to make!

reminds me of master of orion, where by theres one planet in the middle and once you defeat the guardian you get the planet and all the tech of the orions and a new ship.

hmm wonder if you can make something like that.

super unique ship that gaurds it and takes whole fleet of caps to kill, but once it dies the player gets the planet immediatly and many bonuses.

Nice map LordKosc.

The map is pretty balanced, since it's mostly a mirrored map.

It even works with the AI.

Only problem is (which hasn't much to do with the map), that the AI loves to battle in the plasma cloud between the two Terran planets. Unfortunately it also loves to use Sova carriers there (which are useless in plasma clouds) thus really wasting lot's of money.

Eden is at the other end of this system, it a fully upgraded Terran Home Planet


Eden is very useless right now. It's 7 jumps away from your starting planet, thus only having 15% allegiance. Also it's not upgraded at all. This setting in the .galaxy file doesn't seem to work.

Hmmm that is weird... Not sure why the settings don't work for the planet. You might have to move your capital to gain benefit from it.

I always forget about allegiance...

The two starting teammates used to be connected to each other via a phase lane, but even though it was coded that team mates start is set positions, once every 4-5 games you started next to your enemy! Lol...

Also the fact that the AI uses fighters at that plasma cloud is the AI's problem not mine ... Also there is a benefit to moving your capital to either the ICE or Volcanic planet once you do get to Eden , as it balances loyalty then...

How are the teams distributed? Seems a bit unfair if two players have direct access to the desert planets, while the other two only have roids.

For some reason the game likes to occasionally put a member of each team on one side and a member of each team on the other side, thus allowing 1 team access to both desert planets. Not sure why this happens as the CODE does look correct...

a question: i'm not allowed to create any games like this because I'm without "sufficient admin clearence to save this file here" (galaxy file)

what? how do I fix that? (I'm running as admin)

anyway I tried to save in documents and then move the file, but that didnt work.

If you're using Vista, you need to change the security permissions on the folder in question. Vista doesn't allow programs to write files outside of certain areas (which is also why save games, etc. have to go in a specific place on the C: drive).

Good to read, i wouldnt like to build up a System, like lordkosc only, by only writing some stuff under VS into a file...

He did.

The problem is, it looks like the game assigns team ids quite randomly to the players, so that no set outcome is guaranteed.

Correct! And there is nothing I can do to change that other than making maps more 4 player FFA...

Just curious, did you set teams to locked when you tried it? That may make a difference in the id assignments.

Tried locked and unlocked, didn't seem to make a difference...

Looking good Kosc Sorry to hear about the team assignment woes. Seems like Van isnt the only one that is having trouble with that.

Ill check the map out later, and update post (just got home from work trip).

I loaded you map several times, locked teams seems to start at the right pos.
undlocked teams doesent.

But I could have been lucky

I realized if you modify the gameplay constants file to allow for planets more than 7 jumps from your home world to offer 100% allegiance that this map will work as I intended!

If anyone needs the modified file I can make one, else its super easy to edit.

yes it will

it would have to be modified for this map only and changed back if you wanted to play a different map...
