The Regular Tile

For any of you who'd like to try your hand at skinning ObjectDock, head over to the Wiki where you'll find some great tutorials. The most recent of which from me is Creating a Tile Dock Part 1: The Regular Tile. I hope that it helps some folks create their own tiles and I look forward to seeing them here on Wincustomize.

I am having a problem and need some assistance please.

1st I don’t know how you Select the Rounded Rectangle tool

I only have 4 to choose from and it is not one. do I need to hold down

Atl. or ctr. or some other key?

2nd and this is a stopping point as I can’t do it yet

On the toolbar: Select\Modify\Contract and set it for one pixel. Fill this with white, and then with the Rectangle Marquee tool selected, use the arrow keys to move the selection one pixel down and to the right. (Don’t move the white box, just the selection) Once that's done, click delete. What you should end up with is a white line on the left and top of the square. Name this layer "Left/TopWhiteLine"

My Modify is grayed out I can’t select it what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Edit don'y know the tsxt here is big and small

Disturbed Computer:

In Photoshop, Your rounded rectangle shape is here:

As far as the "Modify" option being grayed out, make sure you have a selection loaded. If you don't see the blinking dotted line--aka "marching ants"--around your shape, then the "Modify" option, as well as other options in the select menu, will not be usable.

To load a selection from any shape or layer, go to the layer thumbnail in the layers pallette and control-click on it. You'll see the selection load in your workspace.

@ Mirsguy thanks

Still need help on this step from this Tutorial is in RED

Ctrl+Click on this layer to select it, then create a new layer above it. Name this layer "Left/TopWhiteLine".

I did Ctrl+Click on this layer “Square” on the black thumbnail then create a new layer above it by clicking on the bottom Icon in the layers pallet

(The one that says: create a new layer) but then the new layer is the one highlighted and I do the steps Select\Modify etc. and set it to one pixel.. but when I click on the Icon for the “Create new fill or adjustment layer” then click on “solid color” to fill with white then the "marching ants" go away so I then go back to “Square” layer and Ctrl+Click they come back. then I do hit the Arrow down one time and to the right one time hoping that is one Pixel but when I Delete this new layer the "marching ants" are still there but no White and it does not look anything like the Tutorial picture (not showing herein this post)

To clarify with White box do to click on or is it the black box to move down and to the right were am I going wrong.

I have tried it with the new layer highlighted and with the Square” on the black thumbnail highlighted and what am I to delete cuase deleting the new layer has to be defeating the whole purpose of making this layer

Thier is 7 picture I took on post # 26

thanks
