MV League - Team C Check-in

MV League - Team C Check-in

Well the teams have been assigned and the first rounds game has been defined, so I guess it's time to get started.

I will be checking into having private forums for each team over at the Core. I'll give you the details once I know precisely what it is we're doing.

Team C members are:

Darth_Silouette (Darth_Silouette)
Playjeff45 (Pike the Persecutor)
Mumblefratz (Toshiro Mifune)
thebutterfly (something with butter in it)
TP Scot (General Hawkins)

Also to copy the assignment the game due by Aug 13th is:

We are shooting for a Technological Victory in a Medium Galaxy with 4 opponent's with these settings,

Abundant Habitable Planets
Random Number of Planets
Uncommon Number of Stars
Scattered Star Density
Occasional Anomalies
Common Asteroids (DA Only)
Slow Tech Rate
Random Minors

Enable Tech Trading
Disable Blind Exploration
Disable Mega Events
Enable Super Abilities (DA Only)
Enable All Victory Conditions

Players may see fit to play with the intensive cpu algorithms and whatever race settings they like. Play with your normal difficulty or higher.

Games are to be submitted by midnight on the 13th August.

Team C folks should check in here. I suppose we should have name so post any great ideas you have.

Celestial Crusaders? What the Hell is a celestial? Please bear in mind I have had a few to drink.
Celestial refers to the stars and space.

The very instant you show your weakness, your downfall will begin!

Celestial refers to the stars and space.

As in: "Kiss my glowing celestial ass"
That could be our motto.

@MumbleFratz
You're a great player, any tips for your team?
(preferably GCII:DL tips)

P.S I apologize for my rudeness, but it was kinda funny.

I already sent a PM to macmatt about our team banner seeing that none of us know how to design a banner.

Sorry, if that was supposed to be your job, darth.

-Scot

P.S I got a score of 4250 Tech win. But my it wont let me submit it. I will do better(i hope).

Kiss my shiny, glowing, lunar ass! Yea... that has a nice ring to it.

I also want your guys opinion on this sig for our team:

Its cool. But it would be better if it were in higher difinition. The Blade runners's sig is so clear and spotless, isnt it?

-Scot
Well, the guy who made there's has had a TON of more experience and has made sigs for several empires and teams, I just wanted to try my hand at making one. If anyone on our team can make a better one, please do... Let me try outlining it in some flashy color...

Get used to seeing it too guys, as we will no doubt be the champions!!!

As for your banner, looks nice, perhaps if you talk to marshall he might be able to clean it up a little....

I sent a PM to macmatt for the banner. I'll send one to Marshall o'neil, ok?

And mumble, please include me on the original post Team C list too.

OK but the banner by Darth looks pretty good to me.

Sure, I'll edit you in up there. I forget you can do that. Sometimes I've been tempted to post something like "Every reply to this thread receives $100" and then after receiving a bunch of replies changing the original post to say "everyone that replies to this thread is an idiot." But so far I've managed to resist the temptation.

There was a thread like that by someone who will remain nameless that posted an outrageous and stupid topic. After I had responded basically saying that the topic was basically outrageous and stupid, he changed to OP to something entirely different and it was I that looked like the idiot. Anyway if you can edit the OP long after people have responded to it then you should also be able to edit replies long after they've been released.

[edit] Scot have you announced which character you'll be using for the league? Also has anyone seen thebutterfly around lately? I think he was going to use one character but then changed to another and then maybe changed back. If the thebutterfly could checkin here again and let us know what character he's using and also register at the Core than we would be all set to get our forum at the Core. However, there will be some delay in getting it because the Core is moving to a new host. Also I do have a tiny bit of advice for a tech victory in a medium galaxy. I'd just as soon wait for the private forum although it's nothing very secret. But it would be nice to have some reason for a private forum. If you can't wait for the advice PM me and I'll whisper it into your ear but it's not really earth shattering [/edit]

I have some advice for Team C, too - get yer thumbs outta yer asses and post some scores already!

Yep, I'm using my Hawkins Character. And my name over at the core is FireBender.

All right we are a tad behind the curve but that's to be expected the first time around. Anyway it's not who submits the first games it's who submits the best games that count.

Anyway the team forums have been setup over at the Core in a generic manner. Instead of putting each member into an access control list the forums simply require a password. When the team rosters change then the passwords for the affected teams can then be changed. This results in the least amount of maintenance required.

Anyway the team captain should simply PM any admin at the Core to get the password and then he can PM the password to his team members. The captain is also responsible for moderating the team forum.

If your're not familiar to the Core here's directions for the team captain on how to do this. First go to the The Galactic Core and log in (hopefully you have that part down by now). Then at the Core Portal you'll see a box in the top left with the title Site Navigation. Under this Click on the link to contact staff. From there you'll see a list of Administrators, a list of Global Mods and Forum Moderators. You can PM any of the Administrators and say that your the team captain of team X and need the Metaverse League Team X forum password. All Admins should be able to help you out but Damoose, Technician and Weyrleader are more likely to be able to respond to your request the quickest. Once this is done you'll actually see yourself listed as a Forum Moderator of the team X forum. From there simply PM (at the Core) your team members the password and you're good to go.

Ok, I've PM'ed Techniction and am waiting a reply. Let me check out your guys' core names.

Mumblefratz - Mumblefratz

PlayJeff45 - Unknown

TP Scot - FireBender

thebutterfly - Unknown

PlayJeff45 and thebutterfly please post your core names so I can give you your core private forums passwords. Make sure your accounts work also.

From now on, if anyone is seen posting without the banner down below is committing treason! Just joking. But you should try to put it in every post... Just quote this post and copy the wierd link thing... I recommend pasting it into a notepad document and saving it so you always have access to it...

PlayJeff45's name is the same at the Core and I don't think thebutterfly has registered yet.

I'm not sure about the banner. I current have a banner that I use that's a gif image that rotates between four separate images. The images have no links associated with them but I have images for the Core, for the Diplomats, for the Metaverse Council and the generic Metaverse League banner that Marshall created. This is usually on top of my AltMeta banner that does have a link to the AltMeta embedded in it.

Anyway, this is rather busy and I usually try to put it in one post in a thread, but thereafter in the thread I don't use it so that I avoid cluttering the thread.

The bottom line is that I have enough signage that I carry around with me and I'm not anxiously looking for more. Actually I'm looking for less. So I won't be sporting a specific Team C banner. Note it's nice and I like it but I'd rather promote the 5 things that I mentioned above over an individual team within the Metaverse League, even if it is my own team. Hope folks can understand.

Ya, no prob. And, thebutterfly, just tell us when you've registered and I can give you the password for our forum.

Can you post a link to the private forums there?
I got the password. It is ******.

Here's the path "Core Forums > Galciv & Other Games > Galciv II Metaverse Leagues > Team C" and the direct link is Galciv II Metaverse Leagues. From there you click on Team C and be prompted for the password.

What do I need to register for at that Core of yours? I thought this is about playing a computer game and not about marrying a random bunch of Canadians?

Their not all Canadians, nor are they all that random. There's a solid core (no pun intended) of GalCiv2 folks. The Metaverse Council is there, 6 different metaverse empires are there, and now the private forums of the metaverse league teams are there as well.

There's certainly no requirement to register or even visit the Core. However if you would like to be able to read and contribute to stuff your teammates want to share privately with each other than you would need to register. It's up to you.

For example I posted what my strategy is for this first rounds game in Team C's private forum. What benefit that is to anyone isn't totally clear but the intent is to help your teammates without telling the entire league what your plans are.

I think there may be some useful stuff that will be there but by no means would it be the end of the world if you decided to skip it.
