Bush has Gone TOO far

Bush has Gone TOO far

The refusal of Bush to submit the documents subpoenaed by the House and Senate Judiciary committees is the last straw. Congress has the responsibility of Oversight and they can not exercise that responsibility if Bush can pick and choose what information he will release. Executive Privilege does not trump the responsibility of Congress to be able to insure the executive Branch is not violating the laws of the United States. To allow such a practice would mean a President could violate ANY law he wanted and then keep the evidence about that violation from Congress. That is a Dictatorship.

It is time to force Bush to comply and if he continues to refuse he needs to be held in contempt of Congress and removed from office by impeachment. He must be made to understand he is not above the law which grants Congress the power to insure our laws are being followed. I do not support dragging this out in the courts but for Congress to use the power of Impeachment to force Bush to comply.

the president of the united states has all of the rights as ever other citizen.

but what congress is doing is breaking those rights because they want to win an election.

you can not arrest a man just because he might have broken a law. you have to have some kind of proof.

you can not search a person just because he might have broken a law. you have to have some kind of proof.

you can not subpoena the president of the untied states or the vice president just because they might have done something wrong. you have to have some kind of proof.

congress does not have any such proof. that is why they want all of the records, just so they can see if the president might have done something wrong.

you keep spouting about rights, why do you not give the president those same rights.

the democrats are trying to do away with those rights. and since you back them in everything then i must come to the conclusion that you to wish to do away with our rights.

the republicans are trying to do away with some of our rights. this is why i have never backed the home land security that bush has pushed through the congress on several occasions.

oh and i finally looked up oversight here is the first paragraph

Oversight is an implied rather than an enumerated power under the U.S. Constitution. The government's charter does not explicitly grant Congress the authority to conduct inquiries or investigations of the executive, to have access to records or materials held by the executive, or to issue subpoenas for documents or testimony from the executive.

so even this proves that congress does not have obsolute oversight power. so we find out that you have lied again.

“but what congress is doing is breaking those rights because they want to win an election.”

That is NOT CORRECT. Congress has the right and responsibility to insure our laws are not violated and they have the power to Subpoena both records and individuals to fulfill that responsibility. Bush and Cheney are not ABOVE THE LAW AND must COMPLY OR BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE! If Bush and Cheney have done nothing wrong then the records will show that. However without those records and the ability to question individuals Congress can not learn the facts to determine if the laws it has passed have been followed!

What Bush is saying is that the police and justice staff would be prevented from obtaining evidence. That would make it almost impossible to prosecute any crime if the police and DA’s could NOT obtain the basic information. Congress must BE ABLE TO OBTAIN THE INFORMATION or they can not insure our laws are being followed. There is evidence that Bush may have broken the FISA Statute and we know Bush officials did not tell the truth about why the U.S. Attorneys were fired. There is an indication that politics has a hand in the firing of some of the U.S. Attorneys. The fact that senior Bush Officials had E-Mail systems via the GOP is also an indication that they violated the Hatch Act.

dictator gene the police will be at your house just to make sure you haven't done anything illegal sometime today.

if that is what you want to happen to the president or anyone else then it is only right that they can do it to you too

Congressional Oversight is nothing like you describe. If I had acted like Bush I would expect someone to be asking what I was doing!

Leahy Confronts White House on Subpoenas
By HOPE YEN (Associated Press Writer)
From Associated Press
July 01, 2007 10:35 AM EDT
WASHINGTON - The Senate Judiciary Committee chairman said Sunday he was ready to go to court if the White House resisted subpoenas for information on the firing of federal prosecutors.

"If they don't cooperate, yes I'll go that far," said Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. He was asked in a broadcast interview whether he would seek a congressional vote on contempt citations if President Bush did not comply. That move would push the matter to court.

"They've chosen confrontation rather than compromise or cooperation," Leahy said. "The bottom line is in the U.S. attorney investigation, we have people manipulating law enforcement. Law enforcement can't be partisan."

they have all of that information already read the link

The Subpoenas are for the violation of the FISA Law, the E- Mail Accounts set up via the RNC as well as the Firing of the U.S. Attorneys. The Congress DOES not have the information and the people the White House did agree to allow to talk with Congress would have to do so in secret and not under oath. That is not acceptable and I hope the Congress nails Bush and Cheney to the barn door!

i have said this before and i will say it again you dictator gene are in an idiot

and the democrats are on a witch hunt

IE they are hoping that bush has done something wrong and they will stop at nothing to prove it.

the last time they did this they had to make a new law and make it retroactive to get that president and that was Nixon

Every Citizen is subject to subpoena and must comply or be held in contempt and pay the penalty if they refuse to comply. That is the SAME standard that Bush and Cheney need to be held to for the subpoenas issued by Congress.

a citizen cannot be subpoenad unless they have important info for a case in court or about to go to court. a citizen cannot be subpoenad just becouse the court wants to do so that is a violation of the 5 amendment self incrimination or did you forget that one.

and well we are on the subject how is that democrat who kept all of that bribe money. or was it he took a bribe i forget.

in order for the congress to subpoana the president he has to have done something illegal not just wrong or criminal(you can do something criminal without it being a crime and refusing to let someone search you without a warrant maybe criminal but it is also your right). so i say make congress go to court and get their warrant just like every police officer in the country has to do. not that they want or think he has done something wrong. and by the way who does the oversite for the congress. becouse i am sure there are a few skeletons in the democrats closet. So if we can get the president to give up documents just becouse the congress wants him to. not becouse he has done anything wrong but becouse they want him to. Then i demand the records of every democrat in office and mostly those who are running for president.

Not only do the people Congress subpoenaed have important information but the 5th amendment can only be used once the person has been sworn and asked a question. What Bush and Cheney are doing is PREVERNTING people at the center of the issues (FISA Warrants, Discharge of the U.S. Attorneys and the people with the E-mail accounts with the RNC) from appearing before Congress. In addition, there is also the option to grant immunity thus eliminating the 5th in order to obtain essential information. However none of this can take place if Bush and Cheney refuse to obey the subpoenas!

in the last two days you have called for the over throw of the us government.

you have stated that the president of the USA does not have the same rights that you do.

if the democrats have something solid against the president then they should be on the news telling everyone what it is. I have not heard one of them saying anything except that the president refuses to give them documents.

then i come on line and find out that the president has given them every document for all of the charges that you have stated. but the democrats aren't satisfied they want all of the documents that the president has. what are they looking for to make sure he crossed every t and dotted ever i.

and then you say that the presidents staff doesn't have the right to email accounts.

after you complain that he was wire tapping your phone and email or something like that. but he didn't do that. he wire tapped known terrorists outside of the country. and what little bit i read he is allowed to do that.

and your throwing a fit because the president fired 8 attorneys working for him because they were investigating him. OK if that is true then why haven't they come forward. The only ones saying that they were fired because they were investigating the white house is the democrats in congress and you. Everyone else is saying that they thought the attorneys were investigating the white house but it turned out that they were investigating the democrats.

in the last month you have tried to say that the congress has the right to tell the president how to run the army. They don't. and now you are calling for the overthrow of the federal government. because you don't like the man who sits in the white house.

when Clinton was impeached. he had committed a real crime. he told the judge that he had not had sex with that woman. That in itself isn't bad except that the trail was about sexual harassment.

and to top it off with when his impeachment hearing was set. He(the man who does not like the military) sent our troops into harms way to distract the citizens from the impeachment.

how do i know this because the day that the impeachment hearing was set. He decided to start bombing Iraq. The day that the impeachment hearing was over(a week later) he stopped the bombing of Iraq. Not only that but out of all of the smart bombs we dropped that week 85% of them missed their targets.

Well he was in office he got hold of 1000 total FBI files. This is something that the supreme court justice chief cannot do even with warrants. No one person is ever supposed to see the entire file on anyone in this country. And did he have anybodies files NO he had files for his political ravels.

Then when he left office he stole all of the furniture in the residential quarters.

and his staff destroyed all of the computers in the white house. He with held fatal info from bush.

He portend everyone he had time to didn't matter who they were.

he allowed Ben laden to escape twice. he allowed the Sudan to let him go twice.

he apologized when the Cole was attacked. I heard the speech. I know he was apologizing.

bush has carried out a war that the congress voted for. It doesn't matter that they didn't read the infomation that they were supplied with the truth is they voted for war.

people die in a war.

if i had my way all wars would be fought on computers with very strict rules.

now you can rant and rave all you want to but bush still has the same rights as any other citizen in the usa.

OK IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO REPEAT THAT BUSH ATTACKED IRAQ WITHOUT A DECLERATION OF WAR AND THAT CONGRESS DIDN'T VOTE FOR SAID WAR.

you have stated that the president of the USA does not have the same rights that you do. I HAVE DONE nothing OF THE SORT. WHAT I SAID IS BUSH AND CHENEY must OBAY SUBPONEAS JUST LIKE YOU AND I? They are NOT above the law!

The law (Hatch Act) says they can not use non government E Mail accounts for Government business. When Congress asked for the E-mail they sent on the RNC E-mail accounts they said they had been erased. Congress said the LAW REQUIRES that all E-Mails for government business MUST be kept. Now RNC said they found the E-mails but have not turned them over to Congress as requested!

When Clinton was impeached. he had committed a real crime. he told the judge that he had not had sex with that woman. That in itself isn't bad except that the trail was about sexual harassment. There was NO sexual harassment it was between consenting adults. The lies Clinton told did not get American Military Killed. The lies Bush told has resulted in 3,700 Dead Americans and over 25,000 injured and a 1/2 Trillion dollars spent to create more enemies for this country.

he allowed Ben laden to escape twice. he allowed the Sudan to let him go twice. It was Bush who refused the request of Tenet to use the Predator Drone with the hellfire missile to attack bin Laden. Clinton did not have that capability.

Bush has carried out a war that the congress voted for. It doesn't matter that they didn't read the information that they were supplied with the truth is they voted for war.
If Congress had all the correct information about the danger Saddam posed and the likely outcome of invading Iraq, Congress would not have voted to allow Bush to invade Iraq.

In addition the resolution said war was a LAST RESORT. Bush did not allow the UN Inspectors finish their work. They were back in Iraq when Bush invaded and would have learned that what Bush was saying was BS! Bush did not wait and invaded Iraq on a pack of lies!

UN inspectors say entry denied
Allegations made on Iraq arms sites
By Farah Stockman and Bryan Bender, Globe Staff | October 30, 2004

WASHINGTON -- United Nations weapons inspectors pressed for permission to return to Iraq to help monitor weapons sites on the heels of the US-led invasion but were denied entry by the US-led coalition, according to a former inspector, UN officials, and a letter from the International Atomic Energy Agency obtained by the Globe.

UN inspectors: Saddam shipped out WMD before war and after

SPECIAL TO WORLD TRIBUNE.COM
Friday, June 11, 2004
The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in 2003.

The UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission briefed the Security Council on new findings that could help trace the whereabouts of Saddam's missile and WMD program.

The briefing contained satellite photographs that demonstrated the speed with which Saddam dismantled his missile and WMD sites before and during the war. Council members were shown photographs of a ballistic missile site outside Baghdad in May 2003, and then saw a satellite image of the same location in February 2004, in which facilities had disappeared.
