The next major project is to complete the new Science Lab the is being built near an ancient archiological site. (that should make the scientists happy, the senate choose it to be the next rush job.)

** the Colony Ship (can't find a good name for it.) is being sent towards Alpha Centauri.
** The Bonaventure is on its way outside to solar system. (P.S. the inability to build another Bonaventure class still irks me.)

..... I can't begin to describe my feelings about being given command of the Bonaventure. It really is disappointing that this will be the only survey ship for awhile, but I have the best crew in the new United Nations Deep Space Probe Ageny or UNDSPA (which the initials sounds retarded.) I just call it Starfleet.

..... Well as we are about to leave the Sol system we get a blip on our sensors. It turns out to have been the wreckage of an "ancient" but powerful ship. The chief science officer says it is full of precious elements, that we can use to modify the ships hull. But still it gives you chills and thrills that we are probably not alone in the galaxy.

Captain Archer's report on the alien vessel sent shock waves through the Senate's UNDSPA oversite commitee. They tried to keep the news quiet but it was leaked to press... and a mixture of emotions and opinions surfaced.

... I had to make a speach before the world expressing a new dawn in the era of space exploration has begun.

... reality was many members of the senate wanted to recall the colony ship and consider our place in the universe and if we were better of not knowing. Then there were others who were quite excited. The Arms Union were licking there chops. There was a call to create a true starfleet, but those resources aren't available yet.

... Well, we finally made it out of the system. As it turns out Earth is near the edge of a cluster, I call it a corner. So, after the previous encounter, we headed "east" and found another ship wreckage.

... Then our ships sensors finally picked up the outskirts of a new system. It is too early to tell if there is any good planets.

The shock is starting was starting to where off until Archer found another wreck. Speculation continues.

We entered the new system, it was given the designation Nyquist's Star. It was named after our Astrophysics officer.

1 Feb. 2226,

After surveying Nyquist's Star, we found an interesting planet. It was a Class IV Toxic world. Poor Lt. Nyquist, after word reached home about the new world, but couldn't be colonized, detractors started calling it Niquil world because of the so called boring news.

Word from the colony ship is Alpha Centauri is a bust. The captain is being put on report. It seems he only stopped once and found a Class IX Toxic planet but didn't survey the system. When asked why not?. He figured it was best to leave in a hurry because he didn't want a reprutation like Lt. Nyquist on the Bonaventure.

Keep going, pleeze! I'm all ears ... (well, not really. I did get stuffed in a paper bag as a child tho  ) You have at least one Fan!

... Admiral Forrest has come to see me about Mcgee and complaints from Colonization and Transport.

... I told him that I thought the matter was closed. Until we are able to build moe survey ships they will have to pick up the slack. They have people to make proper surveys. Admiral Forrest said I will tell them again.

... While surveying Raphael, we hit paydirt. Raphael II is awesome. At first I wasn't so positive. It is a Class 7 after all. But the brass wants a complete survey, so I will humor them...

... Boy word spread like wildfire. Crews were send very quickly to set up a manufactoring ceter and it went up quick.

... Mixed news I'm afraid. I figured I would get a new ship. I was wrong since we have to use the ship as a base, I will be stationed here as military govenor. But I will be promoted to Base Commodore. And Lt. Commander Kohlhaas for his brilliant discover is being promoted to Commander and first officer.

... Oh I forgot to mention, we renamed this colony Andoria. Because it is a water world with blue skinned natives. I get to deal with them.

... Captain lewis reporting. Well, we launched without a hitch. I'm glad for the command, but please, a colony ship? Admiral Forrest said be glad. I suppose it could be worse. When I entered command school, I was trained for survey duty. Adm, Forrest says the circumstances aren't ideal, but I get to command and survey systems until we find a good planet.

... We are heading in the general direction of the first Colony ship. I've desided to vere off course a little. call it a hunch. And what do you know I find a system.

... Now the brass is keeping a catalogue of stars, for their upcoming cartography department. They designated this star, get this, Gounaroplous. Huh? I told Adm. Forrest surely he was kidding. He said, unfortuneately no. It is named after to head of the Astronomy dept. in Greece. (I will call it G Star.)

... You know this has been an interesting gig. All I have to do is get this to different parts of the asteroid fiend and set up mining bases. And the brass doesn't call too much. Well, I finally heard from Adm. Forrest. he says as soon as we finish with the base we are getting new engines. Because, after we get finished with the sol system, we get to go look for more asteroids. i hope the Bonaventure finds some soon. Can we say needle in a haystack?

... Well, we have been traveling through a lot of empty space. Until we made an interesting discovery. We ran across another ship dead in space. It was damaged but it was carrying an estimated 100 BC worth of artifacts and data.

... I'm really beginning to get curious abou this part of space. What the hell happened out here anyway. We stumbled across another ship drifting in space. I don't always go along on away missions but I desided to go on this one.

... And wow what a ship. I'm hoping they get that universal translator thing working soon but I won't hold my breath. My guess based on the marking is that this is some sort of Royal Escort. Can't read the logs so, I'm have to send them back.

... It is a very nice vessel. I was amazed that the cargo hold was still intact. I would estimate it's value at 500 bc. I still can't tell how old it is.

... Things seemed to be going very smoothly. We now have a new extra solar colony. Which are starting to excite alot of people still scared from war. Unfortunately with colonies come great responsibilities.

... The Senate thought it was a good idea to set up new training centers. Anything to waste money. But I have to admit we have no choice. But the fight still continues over whether to train people here or on the new colonies.

... Another problem with colonies are the huge drain on the budget. We just hope a solution can be reached before the colonies become self sufficient. We really don't need separatists ruining things.

... Except for some grumbling UNDSPA is doing a great job. But those derelic ships Archer has found are disturbing. So a think tank has been formed. The idea is to prepare for the notion that we are not alone as seen on Andoria. It took too long to communicate those people. So, we need a Universal translator.

... Another issue being discussed is how much should be put into weapons development. The military wants armed survey ships and complain that our state of the art balistic missile just don't work well. they are too slow and take too long to hit the target. With so many things needing to be developed, weary is the head that holds the crown.

... Admiral Forrest came into my office not long ago fuming mad at the Senate. It seems all the various special interest commitees have been spending money on pet projests. That they will know next month what the true budget will be.

... It seems everything is messed up. We have two Colony Ships that were completed very quietly, and never launched. I was told red tape. Quietly though, The brass had a major part in it. Admiral Forrest admitted that no one could make up their minds where to go. I asked flipantly, what about Mars or Venus.

... He got serious, "Sir, if we colonize those Class 4 planets, then it will slow down our ability to colonize nicer planets later.

... In the meantime Admiral take your best guess and send them out.

... Sir, the new sensors are almost ready and I have an idea.

... What if we make a few makeshift survey ships out of the proposed freighter hulls. It won't be ideal, but a stopgape measure. And I propose using Andoria's shipyard when its completed. It will also let up train up some good crews for them.

... Alright, but make sure they are very careful out there. Those hulls will be cheap and the equipment expensive. that will be all admiral.

... Space is an interesting place. It is many fully of boring routine with the occasional spurt of excitement. I've had a couple of weeks to think about the Aux Survey Ship. The press I hear had a field with its initials. Poor Commodore McGee. I'm not sure he will ever get out of the doghouse.

... From what I understand, they had a smaller design planned but the mass of a second Ion engine was too much. So, they were forced to try the Freighter hull. It isn't ideal. if it gets into trouble it isn't very sturdy. But it does the job with speed and sensors.

It reads preety good ... you want an honest opinion? I was a little put off by the spacing, but that's ok. The inserting of information that might be useful for others while playing their games is an attraction. lot's of reading required to sift it out, IMHO. Longer posts/fewer total might be something to think about.

Some aar's also insert screenshots to illustrate a particular event, right from the game play. I dunno if an image host is required for that but I think so. It would be something interesting to do, anyway, while your creativity percolates along.
