..... A new dawn has sprang up all over Earth. Earth has finally recovered from the unification wars. Now, most of the governments have come together in New United Nations. It was a brillant move created by then super diplomat Thomas Serak, who later became its first President...

... Thomas Serak was looking over his status reports after spending almost a year creating the government. A lot had happened over the last year. Earth now had three ships, a Space Miner called the Free Enterprise, a new Colony ship, and The state of the art survey cruiser. Ironically, the chief scientist, Archer, had made some major breakthroughs when he designed the ship but has recently just passed away.

... The death of Dr. Archer was a major blow, but the "scientist" who assisted him was very jealous and deleted as much info on the new Survey Cruiser Uss Bonaventure as he could. The ass't "scientist is under charge of treason and could face the death penalty (and his name isn't used in polite society.)

... The Bonaventure is captained by Dr. Archers son Jonathan.

The call themselves the Orion Sydicate, and their leader is named Raimus. We gave them the tech of the Universal translator."

... "We continue talks with them. Right now there is no need for panic. But we do need to organize much better than we are now. So, I ask for your support in reorganization."

... Captain Archer sat at his viewscreen in his quarters when Admiral Foreest contacted him.

... "Good morning Jonathan. I wanted to tell you that the info you sent about first contact was very helpful. I have alerted Captain Anderson on the USS Discovery and Captain Stocker of the USS Searcher to very careful if they run into anymore Aliens."

... "Jon, it looks like Starfleet is going to be a true reality. The old man is trying to rework the government into the TFofP again."

... "Probably, with the distance between colonies, there is still safety in numbers. So, along with that comes a United Starfleet."

... "Oh, Jonathan, keep up the good work and you are a shoe in for Fleet Captain. The new warship designs were rejected. It said mainly do to speed and size of the new weapons. Will keep you informed, Forrest out."

... Archer just sat there a minute. He just didn't trust the Orions and their green human appearance didn't help. Although there was something downright disturbing about their women. So far the "good news" was it wasn't believed that they had any warships yet but had some Rail Guns. Which is why there was heavy debate over what kinds of weapons the fleet needed and how soon.

... It was pretty much concluded that the Mass Driver tech was pretty crude. But there is a mix of sentiment over beams verses missiles or torpedoes. There was a group who thought beams were the more sofistcated choice over mere "guns".
