ok, well thats a BIG part of your problem. 1.6x had a lot of issues just by accident. As soon as you can make sure you upgrade to 1.8g

I ran into some OOMs myself when playing on a Giga, though admittedly I was in windowed mode with a lot of background programs and all the GFx on max in-game. Since I usually play in strategic icon mode, I turned those all off and have noticed a marked difference in game play and stability.

Yea, With 1.6 I had trouble with it playing smoothly on even medium maps with the Gfx on. That's one reason I stuck to DL for so long, just was waiting for a better performing DA and I have it now.

Hmm...Should I abandon my current game and upgrade or is there a chance that I'll be able to finish this one? I don't want to spend too much time on it just to find out it won't let me complete it.

you might be able to still play it once you upgrade, I think the 1.6 was able to transfer over. I can't say I remember for sure.

But I will say the difference that the upgrade will give you, will make up for any time you did "lose" on playing the older build.

Well that depends on; How much frustration you enduring versus time invested in the game versus how much more time and frustration it would take to complete. Ultimately, You are probably the only one that can answer that one.

I suppose I could try upgrading, surrendering and then trying to post it. If that works, I could reset my character and repost it later.

THanks for the info and advice folks. I think I'll upgrade and test it out. At least then, I should have a working DA going. Maybe even the autopilot will work in 1.8g?

Others have said it's ok, but I still get some random losses, but not as many mass losses of it now.

Random losses sounds like a vast improvement over DL, where you're guaranteed to lose several on every startup and some when just updating the turn. I'll like it if I don't have to redo so many routes. That alone convinces me to upgrade.   

The game works after the upgrade!    Unfortunately, I'm being walked on by all AIs except the freebie Iconians.    I'm going to start over with a custom Yor. I read the details in Firebender's post (thanks, FB) in the Tyranny forums and will put that to (hopefully) good use.

I've also been reading over DA's thread over there and the replys from everyone. It's quite enlightening. You have a great game going, DA!  :CONGRAT: 

Armed with the new information and a stable game, I'm hopefully ready to tackle this thing.   

Good luck to you Motti. There is little slower pace to DA though after awhile it doesn't feel that way anymore.

Just wanted to say that I upgraded my DA in the middle of a game last month and there was no problem. The upgrade helped with the autopilot issue.

Good to hear mate. I know i had problems upgrading whilst having an older game going. The new build is by far the most stable yet, though i have found an issue but i'm not sure it's SD related.

Sometimes in the shipbuilder screen all the components on the ship, listed horizontally in the right pane...will appear as a blank tile...no picture, not even the hull/weapons. Others it will be fine. I have seen this a bit over the last few games but cannot place my finger on what causes it.

Anyone else seen this?

I've seen this alot in my games. It's usually the newer components that were added with DA that have no little thumbnail pic.

so when I logged in today I thought my browser had gone haywire. I think I like the new forum format, just gonna take some getting used to. The only bad thing I'm seeing right now is that all threads that I had replied to in the past are now highlighted, so its a little harder telling which one was actually responded to.

I like how it tells ya a member is online though, that's kinda cool.

Hmm yea im not sold on the new look yet, and yes the My replies section is now one big pain in the ass.

What i dont like is the ranks are now missing. There is no veteran listed near my name and in my profile i am a Apprentice (2)....

well actually Neilo thats the same access level (level 2) that Veteran was. Though you're right in that it doesn't really tell people anything. Work in progress I suppose. I mean, you know from personal experience how forums can be.

Oh yes, and i suppose they are working out some kinks, but i really must admit my ego really liked that veteran near my name......

What I want to know is, how does someone knock out a GIGA SUICIDAL in 4 days? or 2 in 10 days? I mean, come on. It took me 14 days to finish a GIGA period and not on suicidal. I thought I was going to go insane. I could only play for an hour at a time, then had to take a break.

And is anyone else suffering from the flu? This years variant sucks! I am on day 12 (with Tamiflu) and just now getting back to normal. (Of course, I gave it to everyone else in the family, but that's me - I am a sharing kind of guy.)

yeah, I had it, knocked me out for a week, and turned into bronchitis/sinus infection.

I hear ya!!! Every time i do a gig game i get burned out on GC2. I played one last month and have barely touched the game since. I always end up being fed up with the game after a gig....but these forums and you guys slowly get me back in the mood again. I have a medium i started just for fun that i am playing around with...but Mumbles AAR over at the core has me interested in trying a few things out...not on a gig though i dont think.

Lately I've been doing small games with 8 minors and 9 major races. Some really awesome scenerios happening. I don't like gig games anymore at all.
As for getting sick, very rare cause I work outdoors. Big Bonus.

I don't have the patience for a large, let alone a gigantic. Hundreds of planets don't work well with me... that and that my computer would crash.
