OMFG !! (no offense)

Finnally, 10 years after.

That game sucked up at least 3 years of my gaming time if not more.

It will kick ass of warhammer 40 000 series so much that I'm going to sell the three titles I have here, just to buy that new StarCraft 2.

Mouahahaha !!

What?! No, Warhammer is excellent! Can't you keep them and get that one too? If you sell them you are not gonna get so much money out of them, anyway...

Man this and Fallout3 have pretty much made my day.

"Will StarCraft II take advantage of DirectX 10? What other graphical goodies are included?

The game will be compatible with DirectX 10, and we're still considering whether there will be exclusive DirectX 10 graphic effects, but the graphics engine will also be very scalable to ensure that a wide range of different systems will be capable of running StarCraft II. The new engine is also capable of rendering very large units, as well as large numbers of units on screen together. Havok physics have been integrated into the engine for added realism as well."

From their website. That's very good news... About the scalability I mean..

Ive never been a Blizzard fan, so blah. WH 40K pwns Starcraft though.

Is it just me or... please don't flame me for this... do the graphics look pretty sucky. The opening trailer was awesome and I do like the first Starcraft. However, after all this time, I was expecting more of an upgrade in the art department.

I think they're going for an artistic style similar to WarCraft III and WoW. Besides this is still pretty early, and RTS games have never had the most phenominal of graphics anyway.
Mm, I was thinking the same thing. They look too similar to the original... Maybe they kept them close to it so original players would have a sense of familiarity... Maybe it's just not completely done yet. Blizzard said that the game is "going to be ready when it's ready", but the Inquirer says that's it's gonna be out on October..

I understand that the graphics would not be on par with other genres but when I look at the artwork it looks... ugly. Perhaps it is too early to judge but this was the big announcement. I don't know.

If it's as good as the original, the graphics don't matter. Nine years on and SC1 still a LAN party favorite.

I thought that it would make a few people's day. Sorry if it didn't make yours geminisama, or anyone else's.

I recall reading about that Blizzard intentionally avoided maxing out the graphics for Warcraft 3 so it might work well on computers that weren't the state of the art. They might be doing the same, so the graphics you see could be end result.

Besides... its not the graphics that made the series good, it was the gameplay.

However, protoss forces moving through a gateway must emerge in close proximity to the structure, whereas those summoned via a warp gate can be projected to any part of the battlefield that lies within the psionic matrix.

Has anyone else noticed this statement? Will this make the Terrans ask for a refund for their flying barracks?

The graphics aren't the best, but you don't play an RTS for the graphics. I still play starcraft over lan sometimes. It's still one of the funnest games around. Although I hate Blizzard for making MMORPG games popular and bulldozing the way for everyone else to charge for online games (and costly download able content..::shivers: I know that that was an inevitable evil that would eventually consume us all.

Plus I think that I own every Blizzard game ever made (except WoW because I refuse to pay a monthly charge for a game I don't have time to play anyway), so Starcraft 2 is pretty much an insta buy, even if it was based on the warcraft III engine. The gameplay will probably be that epic.

This is good new indeed. I just really hope they can live up to the original. The gameplay sequences looked almost like the same game with updated graphics. Not neccessarily a bad thing, but we'll have to see how they're going to outdo one of the top RTSs(if not the top) of all time.

I'm looking forward to it. My main concern is how badly they'll screw up the story. They made several key changes to the history of Azeroth in Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne that thoroughly enraged me. I was especially angry when they decided to make the Eredar and Dreanei the same species (ala, the Ori and Alterans). According to the histories in the Reign of Chaos manual the Eredar were imprisoned by Sargeras before he went psycho, then released and enslaved by Sargeras during his figurative and actual meltdown. The new story given in the Burning Crusade states that the Eredar are Dreanei who were corrupted by Sargeras.

Anyway, sorry to go on an offtopic rant, but that is an example of what I fear they may do to StarCraft.

I also am going to miss some of the old units. I hope they have Archons!

The trailers look awesome. On gamespot you can view some ingame action. Really cool units, if you ask me. Some protoss really resemble Supreme commander units.

This doesn't shock me, I saw it on IGN yesterday. Starcraft is making the jump from 2d to 3d.

I was so PSYCHED on January cuz rumors started to fly about SC2 being anounced on May's WWI event. Then the day arived and I went to blizzard.com and I was like OMG SC2!!!! Then a few seconds later when i watched the ingame gameplay I was like, WTF this is like 2005 technology WTF!!!!11!11

The graphics definatley look sub-par, Im a graphics whore I must confess, I was sooooo pissed when I saw the graphics I shutdown my computer and went to watch a movie with my family.

I mean, I spent 1500 for a new comp, when the frakking game could run no prob on a 7600gt. COM ON BLIZZARD I WAITED 10 YEARS for this suckky graphics engine MUA!!!!! <:[

Anyways Ill get it somehow when it comes out, just not on the store if u catch my drift... only for the single player story, but i wont buy it cuz the battlecruisers just look like 5 year old toys from Toys R US, so no multiplayer for me!

I HATE fatty big Units besides the small fatty buildings, wc3 is soooooo 2003...

I just hope SC3 looks like something more REAL Life -like.

Bahh, good I got that out of me anyways CYA LATERZ mates.

Whats the deal? The movie section says that the 3rd movie was added 5.20.07 (which is today). Why is it not available?

True dat

Looking sorta forward to it.

Its announced, but that doesnt mean it will be finished any time soon. The part on their website where they state that they will take as much time as needed to make the game close to perfect pretty much means that they will spend all the time they have on WoW and then the 1% thats left will be divided between their other 'games in developement'.

Its supposed to be out be4 aprils fool next year, April 1st.

Blizzard Games are about Gameplay, not about making the players buy a 1500$ PC everyear, unlike most of other Games around.

I'm not jumping for joy just yet. Sequels have been disappointments before. If Warcraft III as a sequel to Warcraft II is any indicator, I'm going to wait and see.

I play SC weekly and still to this day enjoy playing it. I played 4 games this weekend, in fact. I only hope the game play elements are their focus, as in the original. I could care less about the graphics (they could go sprite-based again) as long as the gameplay remains.

Finally!!!! I can't wait for SC2

Hey, when is Blizzard going to make a movie.. sheesh their videos are awesome!

Did you see the gameplay video? It's quite big to download but absolutely worth it! It looks quite amazing... The black hole is so funny, but I guess if you are at the receiving end it wouldn't be And the end... LOL You'll have to see it for yourselves!

The only thing I don't like is the resource collection. I think it's too tedious and when you run out of it, that's it. I think I prefer W40K resource acquisition.
