This is great! I like the way you did the hardpoints, cause it doesn't spoil the look of the ship.

All the credit should go to the two talented people who actually made the models - Coxxon1 and AncientAngel.

I'll try and get the other military ships up today (raider, heavy raider & raptor). After that it will be back to the B5 mod for a while but I will import the civilian ships too eventually

Farscape was a good series, but didn't last very long which pissed me off.

How do you put these ship models in the Dark Avatar game?

BIG MTG: they should work for both DL and DA if you put the models in the root ...GalCiv2\Gfx\Models directory. It will be something like C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Gfx\Models by default.

There is a catch tho if you plan to use the B5 mod at the same time as the BSG models - the normal hulls are disabled in the B5 mod so you would have to rename the BSG .x files or add ship component entries. This is not something I am going to support... for those that don't want to go in to the details: for now the BSG models are NOT compatible with the B5 mod.

G_AdmiralThrawn: eventually . I think the 0.6.3 version of the B5 mod is pretty stable but the recent track record isn't so good. It would be inappropriate for me to start another one-man mod until the first one is definitely under control.

Great looking models.

Two little things will prevent me from using them, however.

1. Those little teensy tiny hard points are much too hard to work with.

2. I have tried using the Viper twice now. Both times, within a turn, I got an Out of Memory error. The first time I had designed a ship, went out of the shipbuilder, bought a few, went to save the game and whammo - out of memory.
The second time I just went into the ship builder and viewed the hull, watching my mem usage. I went out, hit turn, and got an out of memory error.

The game's memory usage was around 1.2GB prior to entering the shipbuilder, and around 1.8GB once in. Total system useage was around 2.16GB - and I have 3GB of ram and plenty of swap space.

Before adding these models simply going in to the shipbuilder would not cause an out of memory error. Perhaps it is something about the models, or I simply have too many different hulls now for the game to cope. So I will be doing a little experimenting in the days to come to see if I can lock it down to one thing or the other.

But, even if I can overcome the out of memory issue - those hard points need to be larger. It is nice having them as a grid array within the ship (that was very thoughtful and well done). But trying to click on them is nearly impossible, especially with a high res monitor.

It's pretty much impossible to manually add components to the hardpoints on these ships, sorry if you've wasted lots of time trying! The intention was that they would be ignored because I assumed everyone was aware that:

You can add components by double-clicking the component... a hardpoint will be automatically selected and the component attached to the ship.

You can remove components by right-clicking the component in the list above the ship.

Really getting in to the colours now
The memory issue sounds like it could be a problem, will take a look.

I was not aware (even after all this time), but thank you very much for bringing it to my attention.
