Hey Rav,

Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

I did what you said by deleting that folder (again, just on Dread Lords, don't have the Avatar expansion)

Played through until the AI began building fighters and all their fighters were invisible (I could see their constructors and colony ships no problem)

UPDATE: Beta 0.6.3 is now up, a quickie for Dread Lords players. If you are using 0.6.2 in Dark Avatar, without any problems, don't bother downloading this one.

Downloaded 0.63 and just kept skipping turns until the AI was building fighters and they're showing up with actual graphics now, can't wait to play and enjoy this awesome mod you've created.

I haven't encountered any problems yet, but I'm also playing at a normal pace and was busy at work this week (i.e. not skipping turns to get to the battles)

If anything crops up I'll let you know, but it seems excellent so far!

Alright, not sure if this is an issue with your mod or the game itself, but here's what I've encountered so far:

I built the Orbital Terreformer. A number of my worlds that were upgraded by this device don't match up.

I may have a planet listing as "class 7" but it has 9 tiles actually available for development.

Obviously the game still has some missing components, such as changing the text (i.e. I'm playing Narn but a lot of the text I see refers to Torions)

Not a huge deal, I'm thoroughly enjoying the game now and am very happy with what it can provide.

hey rav, i hope you don't mind me asking you this, but your obviously an experienced dark avatar modder. First, what causes that invisible ship problem and how do you fix it? And second, how do you add ships to races that you've made in dark avatar? Is it different from dread lords? I'm trying to make my own mod based on an anime show, and I want to make it for DA but I can't for the life of me get my models to show up. I have no problem in dread lords, its dark avatar thats giving me grief. Hope you can help a fellow modder out.

It's still pretty fuzzy in my own mind but...

In Dread Lords there is a style number and a module number. The style number can only be 0 to 5 and corresponds to the shipcfg files. The module number corresponds to components / actual models.

Dark Avatar is more complicated, there are another couple of files in the chain (to be honest I hate the templates system!). The module number works the same but there is no style number. Instead, the styles work like this:

1. A style name is designated instead of a number. This name corresponds to an xml file found in ...Data\ShipStyles.
2. In the ShipStyle xml file there are references to templates for each type of ship. These references can be found in an xml file located in the ...Data\ShipTemplates directory.
3. The models designated in the ShipTemplates xml file must have corresponding shipcfg files in the ShipTemplates directory.
4. The shipcfg files must match components in the ...Gfx\Models directory.

I'm running BETA v0.6.3 and I noticed that Earth Force does not have the Colony Module available. Was this intended?

If your still waiting for an answer...When selecting the Earth Alliance click the "CLEAR" button twice. Now when you load up the game you will see a Colony Ship available to be built, and modules in the shipyard. Have Fun!!!

Hey rav, it seems that i spoke too soon. I did encounter a problem

As i said my ships appear in DA as they should, i've added hardpoints to them using the dummies function in 3ds max and they appear correctly in the game. However, when I add a weapon or any other item to one of the hardpoints, the ship dissapears from the shipyard window and the hardpoint i clicked on becomes gigantic and is kinda reversed like a mirror image. The item does get added to the ship though. If I saved the design and go back into the shipyard, the saved design will now show the ship again including the newly added item. But, if i add another item, the same thing happens. As before, the design can still be saved with the items on the ship.

Also, since this method only lets me add 1 item at a time, i would basically have to constantly close and reopen the shipyard to get everything i wanted on that ship. Do you have any idea why this is happening with my hardpoints?

If you don't know how to correct this, I can live with it. It does work, its just gonna take longer and be more tedious to design my added ships. What worries me though, is how the AI would handle it. I don't wanna see them be restricted to designing these ships with only 1 item because of this stupid problem.

Any thoughts?

How do I play the game using this mod? I downloaded it and I have "use mods" checked in the game but I can't find a way to get to B5 stuff.

UNDER the "use mods" checkbox you also have to klick "change" to change the mod folder from default to the B5 Mod folder. Can't post a screenshot coz I'm not at home though. Sorry.

@Rav:
Finally had the opportunity to playtest the current version.
One prob with the ships remains. The Vorlon ships don't show. At least there are no textures.

I decided to playtest the B5 mod today, and noticed no problems saving, quitting, and then reloading the saved game. In my test I played the Earth Alliance for 3 turns, saved, quit the whole game, log back in and reload and here is how my ships look in the Templates section.

Well the only problem I've noticed with the Vorlons is this from the planetary map.



Here is a pic of the Vorlon ships at the start of the game...



In reference to the textures and ships not showing...I conducted the same playtest I did with Earth Alliance on the Vorlons - played for 3 turns, saved, quit from game, reloaded saved Vorlon game, and here is what my ships in the Templates section look like.



So my question is to the three previous posters, are you still experiencing the problems you mentioned here with the latest Stardock beta 1.6 Beta 6? If so, I can only recommend to download the latest DirectX SDK version (which is Apr 2007) or consider re-installing the game itself and see what results you get.

I'm having the same problem reported by others. Works fine until I load a saved game. Once loaded, a few templates remain in the shipyard, but no ships are available for build other than the one that I built before the save, however this does not show under the "user" tab. Ships built before the save remain in the game, but none are available to build.

I'm using the most recent release of the game, "Gold Edition" GalCiv II 1.50.128; Dark Avatar 1.61.090. No Betas show in the Stardock Central Update utility. Am I missing something? Is there a fix?

Not sure what the go is. Core designs disappear after loading a saved game. I have a feeling it crept in via a GC2 patch and isn't B5 specific tho - the same problem is cropping up with another mod I am working on. Have spent (wasted!) lots of time trying to suss out the disappearing designs without getting anywhere, any suggestions?

And yeh, not dead! Just working very slowly

Have to admit that I've been slightly distracted by a fantastic DOW: Dark Crusade mod (dowpro.com).

Is anyone else having the problem of the latest version DA crashing while playing the minbari after researching massive scale building? I've tested this by editing the raceconfig.xml file and having the minbari start with and without massive scale building. Game crashes instantly upon galaxy creation with the tech and is playable without until you have finished researching it. I've uninstalled and deleted all GC2 files twice now. Still having this problem after a clean install. My guess is it has something to do with the sharlin war cruiser but I'm at a loss for how to fix it.

I cant get any B5 ships to show up in the game. am I suppose to build these ships on my own or something? I get the videos from the media pack and the proper Race names photos but no ships in either DL or DA games.
