Socrates Is Dead

Oh my god Mason!  I am so, so sorry....I'm sitting here bawling myself. 

He was a good kitty and he knew that you loved him very much.  He had the best life any cat could have asked for, and I'll miss reading about his antics on the road with you.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss.  If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

Can't beat yourself up for it though. For all you know he may have just been a restive mood and would have jumped out the door with you yelling at him or not...

I'm so sorry to hear about this. As M-Post said though, don't beat yourself over it. It's not your fault he jumped out of the truck. It's really hard when death happens, and sometimes people can't help but feel some guilt over it. "If only I had", "There must have been something I cold have done", etc. Fact is, you've done all you could already, by being a good dad and a good friend to Socrates. Sometimes things are just out of your hands.

I'll be having a drink to his honor tonight, and I'll keep you in my thoughts.

No...I am so sorry and I don't know what to say other than that I'm too choked up to say anything at all...hugs M, I'm sorry.  

Mate, I am so sorry. I'm feeling a little choked up myself. He was part of the community and will be missed. My thoughts are with you too, mate.

I'm very sorry, Mason. I know how I would feel if something happened to my cat. That's why she's an indoor cat. I had a feeling that someday Socrates would jump out of the truck and if not get run over, at least run off and you would never find him.

That is so sad. I hope you're okay. People just have no idea how attached you can become to a pet. I'm sure you really feel her loss.

Oh Mason I am really really sorry for your loss, this is such a shock. *sending you love and comfort* I am so so sorry. RIP Socrates, you will be well and truly missed by not only your dad but many of us on JU too. Oh god I cannot stop crying, this has really upset me, so I cannot even begin to imagine what you must be feeling.

Socrates for the short time you have been in my life on Ju via your daddy I say thank you for the smiles you brought to me.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Mason, I am so sorry. Socrates has become loved by us all. I know you are hurting and I don't know what will make the pain go away. I am really sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry Mason. I wish I had words for you. I am sorry. It is not your fault. Sally does that to us, we just have a yard she can run in.

A truly beautiful cat will be sorely missed by the JU community. I hope your heart heals soon, Mason, and you remember the love he gave you, and not the pain of his passing. A big hug from another kitty-lover.

I hated to read this, Mason. I am so sorry. Socrates seemed like such a sweet kitty, and you were a good and caring owner to him.

Oh my gosh Mason, just saw this on the sidebar and knew you must be hurting. So sorry to hear this. I know how much my pets mean to me and how hard it is to let them go. I do hope, with all the love you have to give, you will think about taking in another kitty in time.

Jeez, Mason, I'm so sorry to read this. I really enjoyed reading about Socrates' antics in and out of the rig.

I think about all the kitties we have in the shelter...I know that you miss Socrates and you need some time to mourn the poor little guy but I wonder if you'd consider another homeless kitty to share your abode sometime?

He seemed like such a good little companion for you, even if the stinker did spill your coffee Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.
