Can't buy SR2 using Stardock

I can't buy the game using stardock. I also don't see the [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] described below when I do a regedit.

Message is:

"Assembly Load Trace: The following information can be helpful to determine why the assembly 'App_Web_i0rh33jm, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' could not be loaded.

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog]."

EDIT:
I can't buy it on my second PC using stardock, nor can I buy tokens. Same error. Just looked on both PCs. I can't buy ANY games. I can't buy it at totalgaming either. Kindly advise.

Edit 2: Okay. I had to follow a few more links to buy it at totalgaming/stardock --more info link at top right of main page. Had to "try" to buy 10 game tokens, then cancel, then pick the game from their SECOND listing of games. That worked and I am downloading using SDC.

I'm having the same problem only your method isn't working for me because I get an error trying to do anything...

I've been told by the Net Dev crew that this was fixed this morning.

Hmm, website for buying is broken. Get a lot of error: and script source. I have the demo download and just need to buy a key.

Here is the error:

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Could not load file or assembly 'App_Web_tg6ka7ja, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

And a bunch of what looks like ASP.NET code. Need to fix the website..sales are pending! B-)

Sorry gang, the web guys are looking at it again.    Should be working now, though. *knock on wood*

maccleary: In Stardock Central, click Tools -> Settings -> Internet and then click on Refresh XML Data.  Also, if you're using a firewall, you need to unblock Stardock Central so that it can fetch updates.

Ok, bought SR2 through the website. The instructions are to install SDC and use the serial number in the reciept. However, SR2 is not in the list of games at SDC.

What now?

I have downloaded the demo version. I don't see a way to enter my new serial number in the demo version but I may be missing it.

How to proceed to get the licenced version?

Just one more thing. It looks like if I install from SDC it installs by default to C:\ Is there a way to install to another drive. My C:\ is chock full.

Yup! In Stardock Central click: Tools -> Settings and then click on Games under Register. The Installation Path field at the bottom will let you set the default install location.

You can also set Stardock Central to prompt you where to install each time under: Tools -> Settings, then under General scroll down to Installation and check Prompt to enter an installation directory.

If your drive C:\ is full, you'll also want to change where Stardock Central is storing the download and temp files, since if you run out of hard drive space, you'll be in trouble. To change this click: Tools -> Settings -> Advanced. Then change the locations under Downloads and Archive/Restore under Directories.

Thanks! Great info. I can't believe how good SR2 is. I have a shelf full of games that I play on and off, NeverWinter, WOW, Unreal etc. and I can't stop playing SR2. This game is a winner. To the developers: keep working on this one. Expand it's features. Increase the user's ability to modify the game by using editable parameters. You should sell loads of this game. I have already convinced six of my game playing friends to buy it. Keep up the good work!

Having a lot of problems downloading this game!

Have entered the registration key and have sorted out the issues with Harddrive space (have redirected the install directory and download/temp files to my very empty E drive - 60 gig spare space).

Have attempted to download the game twice now and have failed both times.

I have now added stardock.com to my firewall list (this is about the only thing I can think is causing problems) and will have a crack at downloading/installing the game this evening).

I have wasted over 2 gig of my months download limit trying to install this damn game,if you have any other suggestions please let me know - thanks! This is rapidly becoming and exercise in frustration!

P.s. is there a way I can download and register this game without stardock? Much like the demo files download - or is there a way I can download and install this game in a more simplistic manner (i.e. and install exe file muhc like the demo download?)

I have paid for the game!

Well, I don't think that you can download SR2 without SDC. But you can donwload it on another computer, use SDC to create an archive, transfer the archive into an USB key with more 2 GB at least and install it on the other computer.

thagee - Please email [email protected] if you haven't already. The developer of SDC is investigating this issue, so the more data, the better.

There is no way to install games off TotalGaming.net without Stardock Central. Odds are they would fail the same way regardless since SDC is primarily a download manager.

Thanks Yarlen, it has been extremely frustrating, as I really enjoyed the Demo and really wanted to hop into the main game but haven't had the chance due to the crazy download scenario.

I've been trying to buy some games for days, and I always get the same error message when I click on the 'nnn tokens' button:

*** The page you have requested has experienced and error and cannot be processed due to the following error:
Error: Error while writing encrypted data to the stream: \nInvalid length for a Base-64 char array.

This has been going on for 3 days now, an email to support got no reply, and email to sales got a message back 'that is really strange'. Very frustrating.

To clarify: I have used Mozilla, Opera and MSIE browsers to access totalgaming.stardock.com/store/ to log in and get this error. I also get it if I click on the games' 'buy' button in SDC - makes not difference. I have made direct connection to the internet to eliminate my spam filter proxy as a possible source and that hasn't changed anything either. I'd say there is a gremlin at your end.

By the way I have encountered the same self problem before when using tokens, a long time ago, but it had disappeared when I came back the next day. Not this time ...

Nobody else has reported this problem and we've been unable to reproduce it so far. Your support ticket has been escalated to Net Dev as this is something the rest of us haven't seen before. The only thing I can suggest is to wipe your cookies and browser cache to see if that helps, and also open up your firewall and any anti-spam/anti-ad programs you might have running.

Yarlen,
whatever you guys did to test, apparently has cleared up the problem. When I logged in this morning (NZ time) I found that the purchase of Atlantis Quest had completed while I was logged off overnight(?!?).

I did as you suggested and cleared the Mozilla cache and cookies, turned my firewall off on the pc (I have a hardware firewall/router also) and I could complete the pre-order of the Galciv 2 expansion without a problem.

To test further, I then switched the firewall back on, and started up Opera - where I had also had the problem. This time I left the firewall in place.
The purchase of Knights and Merchants completed without a hitch, firewall on, cache and cookies unchanged for this browser. Surprise!

This suggests to me that your testing has cleared whatever obstruction there was, since the config of Opera at my end was totally unchanged from before.

Nice in a way because the system works for me again, but that makes the problem fairly inscrutable for the purposes of testing/debugging of course :-\

Thanks for looking into it. I sure am much happier now!

cheers, -Peter

Further to this, after I posted the above I got an email from Patrick Ford at your company who said he thinks he's identified and rectified the problem. Which, apparently, is the case.
