Is it Just me? Or has Joeuser become boring as hell?

Is it Just me? Or has Joeuser become boring as hell?

My title pretty much says it all. I feel like some of the life has gone from joeuser.

Is it the new format? or has everything that can be written, has been.

Where is the spark? What has happened? Could it be that Joeuser has outlived its usefulness?

Even with the liberals writing more, I just cannot seem to find any articles of real interest.

Must I break out the bugle and start playing taps?

I dunno MM.

I admit with the new forum format I don't check old articles as much. I used to check every single category, now it takes too much time. So I only hit a few.

Which means when I am off for the day, or four, I miss all those articles and the potential of a flame war.

I think it will pick up when the weather gets bad.

I detest the new format. I hate it. With a passion. I hadn't felt the need or the desire to blog for a while, then when I DID come back to write an article I found things had changed, which killed off any and all desire I had to blog.

I agree that things have become stale around here; I've thought so for some time now. It's just the same people talking about the same things and it's old - and it's the same assholes baiting the same people and THAT'S old too.

I used to check in here every morning over coffee. That doesn't happen anymore. Sometimes I'll check in if I'm bored, but there have been times when I've gone for days without looking at JU.

I could have written your response, word for word.

I see you corrected that this morning. and HOW! lol

Well, I can think of a few reasons for JU getting a little more boring:

1. Several regular bloggers have been busy with other things.

2. The new forums format doesn't provide as easy a medium to see the recent articles in each category, and I think it's possible a lot of bloggers don't even bother, so there are fewer controversial replies.

3. It's a relatively slow news time period. Think 24 hour news shows have a hard time filling space? Try COMMENTING on the news articles, and it gets even slower.

4. If you provide insightful, well researched articles in certain topical areas, you're accused of being a "one trick pony", or of being paranoid if you insinuate that our government is anyhow involved in less than honorable activities, even if your opponent espouses basically the same in different areas.

Dr.

Myrrander's right, he has made it clear he hasn't been actively teaching. So he's at present no threat to the children of Arkansas. As for his vitriolic, nasty attitude, I have to agree with you 100%.

(lw here)

I haven't been writing much either, (at least not here) and for me it's a combination of being busy with work, resting up for/from work, a general disinterest in the same-shit-different-day drag that JU has become, and the crux of the biscuit (as zappa would say) is this farked up new forum layout.

I'd suggest we petition the owner for certain changes to be undone, but I'd only be harshly reminded that this is not a democracy and told to eat my ice cream or stfu. (same shit, different day....)

I would sign said petition. If one was presented. And if this were a democracy. If,if,if...

And I'm not sure why you're worried about keeping your kids away from him seeing as how you don't actually raise them.

The only cahnge we've made is to the forums, not the blogs.

Secondly, I don't think people really have given the new forums a chance. I'm more used to them and I find them a LOT easier to find new things.

For instance:

https://forums.joeuser.com/?g=recent

This shows everything that's new for the last 72 hours.  The old forums had nothing like this.

Moreover, you can easily click on the little arrow seperators to go to a different forum so going around isn't that hard.

What I suspect we CAN DO going forward is allow users to bookmark certain forums as favorites and then have a continual listing of what's new in those forums.

The old forums just were a pain in the rear for navigation even though I agree it was nice to be able to browse and see the latest in each category.

Make sure you click on the little sideways arrows too:

Home -> Blogging -> Blog Communities ->

Click on those arrows and you'll see how easy it is to navigate.

We also will have

http://oldforums.joeuser.com/

Which is the old forums. But you'll notice ohw much slower they are compared to the new forums which are much MUCH faster.

The User subscription feature will allow users to subscribe to certain forums and those forums will be displayed similarly to oldforums.joeuser.com.
