Hulls your way!

Ever want to use a Dreadlord Hull, or some other race's hull as your own, or even just a different hull than the size you picked allows? Now you can! KHSM adds a 'blank' hull of each size (simply a hardpoint and nothing else), and makes ALL ship hulls in the game into jewelry. So now you can have any hull design you like, add hulls upon hulls as jewelry, or even create a ship ENTIRELY out of jewelry with no hull at all!

Choose a hull, then go to Extra's/Generic and select the 'Delta' item.
Place that on any of the hulls hardpoints (near a center point would probably be best) and you will have a formation of hardpoints around (and separated from) the hull, on which you can place other hulls as jewelry items.

hmm odd I dont have any thats labeled 'Delta" and i certainly dont see the tiny hulls as jewelry. I do see the other race hulls though including the dreadlord hulls so im sure I have it installed.

The Delta should be right before the Dreadlord hulls in the generic extras. They're all labelled plainly, or are you using TA? I haven't tested the batchfile with TA yet; that will probably need to be changed. If you are playing with TA, you should run the batch file from the directed DA location, then you can move the 'filled' mod folder over to TA.

for some reason i didn't get the extra hulls and astroids to download properly.

Sounds like you need to as well, Daniel--asteroids and hull-jewelry parts not appearing in DA with the mod is a sure sign that you didn't run the batch file exactly by the directions (those parts are not included in the mod itself, but instead need to be copied by the batch file from your DL/DA files).

kryo i have tried three different ways to get the hulls and astroids and still don't have them. and yes all three times i followed directions

You have Vista as I recall? If so, you may need to run as admin or even disable UAC entirely to run the batch file (UAC does not seem to like BATs, apparently).

Ahh I finally figured it out. The mod wont take effect on a game your already running (hit head on table) I now get the full glory of KHSM you just have to start a new game for everything to take effect. Although sadly the guy who made the BSG models used a silly hardpoint trick so its incredibly complex to do what I wanted to do. If possible in the next release could you make a set of hardpoints that just shoot straight out in one direction sort of like a finishing line kryo?

Kryo, any chance of a new MV friendly KHSM? Something that allows you to use hull as jewelery in the MV would be great. I really miss using this mod and the ships i used to build. I have some awesome BSG ships i'd love to use again, plus building the Galactica with TA would be be a real treat with your hull mod.

Hulls as jewelry for meta games isn't possible since that by definition requires xml modifications. There is a KHSM Lite version that squeezes blank hulls in at least, but that's basically just a loophole that's made much less useful since DA has brick hulls.

One thing at least that is notable (in the same vein as said loophole) is that if you copy all the KHSM models to the main models folder so they're available to the game without mods on, you may be able to use full templates in metaverse games, though it may require some manual tweaking. As the shipcfg files only record what models are used to form the design, not whether they're actual jewelry pieces.

kryo i turned off that program and it still won't give me the hulls.

my computer guy says that vista doesn't like bats not written for vista.

Hey kryo what do i have to do to add user made hulls into the jewelry section? I copied the model data into the KHSM model folder but its not actually adding them as other hulls.

To add a jewelry piece you also need the corresponding xml entry. Have a look at the mod's xml files for samples.

I installed it last night and it seems to work just fine. It worked in the beta also.
