A suggestion for 9/11

I have read in the newspaper that on Sept. 11 both McCain and Obama will come together at the WTC site for a joint declaration of unity among americans.  I have further more learned that neither campaign will run ads attacking the other.  I think that for this one day that is a great idea and I salute both the McCain and Obama camps for doing this.  My suggestion is that we here on this forum do the same.  For that one day lets not badger back and forth about our differences and name call but lets focus on the fact that we are all americans and in the end will act together for the betterment of our nation.  My suggestions for posts for that day would be things such as stories of bravery and patriotism(military, civilian, whatever, it could be that guy in NY that saved that kid a while back on the subway track, or someone in your locality that put him or herself at risk for another).  Stories where ordinary people rose up and stood up for what is best about this country.  I further more would challange Republicans/conservatives to find great stories about democrats/liberals and Democrats/liberals to find great stories about Republicans/conservatives.  I will be the first to pledge to do this.  Who will Join me?

Sounds like a nice gesture, but i'm not sure you could really enforce it.

If we called a day of peace, there'd be no articles.

I don't do politics all that much, so I'm in for a ceasefire...nice to break up the monotony of political fighting.

there is no way to enforce it, I just thought maybe we could all take a day off of fighting.  Even if your not american, were all human, so lets tell some good positive stories about things that have worked in politics even if it was your opponents that enacted or suggested them:)

There is no way to enforce it.  But then no one is forcing McCain and Obama either.  We will see.

Come on Dr Guy just one day, you dont even have to create a post with your name on it I will do it and then you guys can post your stories there.  I will post it the night before when I go to sleepy time.

I'm willing to go for it, of course, on September 11th I usuallly run a 9/11 Parody, so I usually don't get too controversial or political. ;~D

ok I put up a 9/11 positive post thread please post their or here if need be about the positives of being an american or of opposing parties and thanks for going along with it.
