Hey folks. I've been enjoying the game a lot so far. Of course like a lot of you out there, my goal is to unlock all the characters in campaign mode. I started off unlocking the democrats. Carter and Clinton were pretty easy with my big spending strategy. LBJ and Wilson gave me more a run for my money. Jefferson is where I hit a bump in the road. If the campaign were only a couple weeks longer I think I can overtake him. However, I don't have that luxury.
My strategy has been spending the first 3/4 of the campaign building lots of income with HQ's and fund raising. I also try and get some endorsements for early to mid game awareness. Hence why I picked George Bush to use since he seemed like the best stats unlocked Rep for this. The last part of the race is a real ad storm from me. Throw in some strategically placed operatives and I was sitting pretty come week 41. Last time around with Jefferson, I got a little greedy. I was trying to take Pennsylvania, when there were some easier low hanging fruit in the last leg of the race when I make a big comeback in the polls. I think I should have myself a strategy of states I will campaign in and only stay in those states. It seems a little foolishly defensive, but Jefferson is a real beast. You
will be behind in the polls a lot with this guy.
Anyway, this is the map I came up with to work on. Ohio is going to be hard. Virginia will be tough at first since he has an initial awareness bonus, but that should be negated late in the race. Colorado and Missouri have a tendency to be targeted by the democratic candidate I notice, so that could be a problem. As you can see I leave little wiggle room but I don't get too aggressive and go for unrealistic states:

If its too hard still to beat him I can always try and see how far I can get with Wilson. Maybe unlock Reagan (I'm guessing Lincoln is just as hard as Jefferson) and see if they'd have a better go around with our 3rd president. Does my strategy sound all right? Anyone have any suggestions for going after this tough cookie?
