One of the things some people don't realize is that each race has its own AI class behind it with its own code and strategies. We wanted to make sure that the computer opponents didn't have some universal gap. So each one will try different things on planets or different colonization strategies, different tactics, etc

I get really annoyed by starbases, sometimes. It would be nice to be able to invade them directly or subvert them in some manner. Realistically, though, most starbases would have some kind of auto-destruct sequence to prevent them being used by opposing races (if only by overloading the local fusion reactor).

Actually capturing planets at middle and/or end stage in the game isn't about getting them to produce stuff for you. It's all about denying those resources and strategic locations to your enemies. So I’m gonna have to go with a working as intended thing.

Do they have the little disorder symbol on them? Basically each planet has an IP(influence points) number and another number in ( ) right next to it. That other number is the influence from other sources on that planet. The "magic" number you want to get those planets to is (4.00) or so. If you don't reach that number you wont ever convert them. Couple of things to do. Use espionage to enable viewing that number on the target wo

So it is good thing to balance research? Go slowly in every branch? for the most part yes. Sometimes, especially for military techs, you need to concentrate in one area to get an advantage over your enemies.

I wish I knew that about luring the ships off, cause now I've got 4 DL battleships roaming my neck of the woods. Create a super fast ship, maybe 4 or 5 engines, speed 10-12 would be good. Put a weapon on it (DL target armed ships first usually) and speed past all those battleships. If you do it

I noticed on Intelligent level they bought a constructor instead of a defender when I was attacking their planet with my fighter. Yeah I've seen that too. I parked a 1 beam tiny ship above an AI planet and it kept just producing constuctor after constructor for me to kill.

I just finished that one last night. It is a real pain but can be done. First never try to engage the Dreadlords combat ships, its just a waste of time. Second from the very start buy a colony ship each turn for 4-5 turns. Spread out as quickly as you can. Also set your production to 100% and your taxes to where your approval is 50%. Now max out the research bar and research the techs that allow you to upgrade research. Make sure to buy an improvement on each of your planets every tu

Most people have 81.98 um 6.14.0010. 8198 is 81.98 i did update the sound drivers to 6.14.0462.0000 and it still happens. Oh and I also read the x2 core

Your display drivers are pretty old. www.nvidia.com updates their drivers several times a year. No the Video drivers are the latest available. 6.14.0010.8198 you are probably looking at the nvidia sound drivers for the Motherboard

Turn up your edge scrolling speed if its too slow. So its okay to click drag 20 times to scroll across the galaxy? Thats just lame. Allow me to edge scroll diagonally like EVERY other map type game made after 1990 to make my life easier. It should be easy to do, and I don't see why people are arguing against it.. just doesn't mak

I must confess, there's probably little likelyhood of much updates to the manual until we have someone (other than me) willing to touch it up. It was done with InDesign and the experience nearly drove me to stop drinking. I feel for you. The last manual I did was done in Word. When you use tons of pictures and you bloat the word document it st

As far as your statement c goes, the game leaving copies of your ships behind: If you don't change the name of the ship it will overwrite the old one instead of copying it to a new one. Think of it like a file, when you rename the ship you are doing a "save as" and making a new copy of the file.
