As the title suggests, I'm having difficulty with my World Clock adjusting to Daylight Savings Time. Below is the code I'm using which works fine but does not take into account the loss or gain of an hour depending on which city is selected. I've tried having it look to see what month we are in and adjusting from there but it didn't seem to work. [code] Dim GMT 'Called when the script is executed Sub Object_OnScriptEnter

Paxx: would love to beta test this for you as well and if at all possible, incorporate this feature into my SophOS (read Mac OSX Tiger) theme. Drop me a line a [email protected] and let me know. Thanks
rezip the folder and then change the extension to .dxtheme hit enter then double click, it should install for you then.
i have a world clock included with my SophOS DesktopX Theme which does this exact thing. it has some 40+ preset cities from around the world in a handy drop-down menu. all you need to do is select your local time zone and it gives you the local time there. check it out and see if this is what you need.
the easiest way i can think of to edit a theme is to open up the Object Navigator and adjust from there. find the object containers and change their X,Y to fit inside your screen. save theme when you have it the way you want and you won't have to worry about it again. hope this gets you started in the right path.
already created...search the objects. Should also be included with the release builds of DesktopX
Night train: could you not just create an object in DX as a start button, edit script that calls the menu then runs the start button. something like Sub Object_OnStateChange(state) If Object.State = "Mouse up" then DesktopX.Object("yourmenu").visible = True Object.ExecuteCommand End If End Sub ??? Just an idea...i'm in no way a VB Scripter. If anything I'm a hack <img src="http://images.stardock.
Brazen Weep made one a while back utilizing zap2it.com's listings which i modified for my Melatonia : Slate Theme. Included a built-in guide viewer, buttons to favorites/all/selected channels. Just do a search for it. It was quite simple and should be exactly what you're looking for.
wait wait...there's an 'enchanted' version now? all joking aside, perhaps a name change to DesktopGadgets or something would have stopped this 'misunderstanding' Cygnus seems to have before it started. either way you slice it though, it's still a deal for the value - Pro, enhanced or 'enchanted' if you will <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Wink.g
i have begun working on an address book but need help with allowing the user to actually add and then later retreive the entry. My newest them SophOS has an example of this. As of right now, one can call up entries but they are hard-coded, meaning the user would have to edit the script and add new entries manually which is a real hassle for anyone. also, work on a yellow pages type widget has hit a stand still. i was able to set up the widget
you should always run your computr through at least one surge protector. i run mine through two so in case one gets zapped it's sure not to get through both. the cmos battery is found on the motherboard and i wouldn't go about replacing it if you're not sure...it looks like a watch battery only a little bigger (the wafer looking ones)
Frogboy: read through the DesktopX Support and you'll see a ton of messages ranging from "widgets don't work' to 'widgets don't work' well...okay, the main thing is widgets don't work (and the system tray but that's been like that since 1.99 but i digress) the whole competition between DX and Konfabulator is with widgets. It's not about interface modification which DX can and does well. Konfabulator wasn't built for that so we can't include those capab
before Stardock starts worrying about the name perhaps they should get a stable build under their belts. one thing that distracts from the appeal of DesktopX or DX (whichever you prefer) is that from build to build there seems to be an incremental amount of bugs. what we need is a stable build backward capatable. -- I think we can all agree the newer DesktopX is not like the old one in relation to performance and functionality. true,
Well, I released this a couple of days ago over at Aqua-Soft and have received a great response and since Wincustomize seems to take forever in approving a theme, it's available at DeviantArt.com SophOS 4.2 (build Gazelle) Release -------------------------- <B
it's not hard, try C:\WINDOWS\system32\sndvol32.exe
it's true they do have the "Apple" thing going for them, and yes one could say they are graphically more appealing. but what it comes down to is they just have a wider selection of 'different' things. true, you have to sift your way through the endless array of webcam feeds but beyond that there's everything one can ask for. where the average user comes here and sees a calendar, a clock, the requisite weather, and some newsfeeds, on Konfabula
starting a theme without script would be just starting desktopx withan empty theme. as for the scripting engine, go here Link and download, install the file scripten.exe. reboot your computer and try loading desktopx again. if that doesn't work trying falling back to 2.3...it's the last build of desktopx i've used that w
i have no real opinion either way. porting is just one aspect of skinning that helps everyone. it helps spread what would be just a theme confined to the realm of mssytle to windowblinds and visa versa. it's beneficial visually also to have a skin ported to other programs to tie them all together. if they put the time and work into producing a comparable port, if it's of the quality of the orignial inspiration then i'm all for it. anything less is a wa
try starting up a theme without scripts. if it doesn't crash then you'll need to install the newest script engine from microsoft. i had this problem a little while back and after intalling the script engine it worked like a charm again.
As the subject states, I've been having trouble resizing activeX controls ever since i updated to 2.4 I've tried the Ctrl+Drag and Object.Width/Height but to no avail. All the happens is the original control box remains and i get a blank square where it should have resized. Any ideas on how to fix this? This has happened on two seperate occasions using both the Web Browser Control and the List Box. I had no problem copying an old drop down box but coul
try adding ctrl with that...or you could do a search for a free screenshot program.
I'm currently designing a mac os X interface with DesktopX and was hoping to get user feedback, suggestions and comments. If anyone has any ideas for widgets or functions they would like to see implemented let me know. I've tried to add all of the Dashboard mini-apps and a few others. There are a few things that are missing yet (transitions on closing widgets, menubar and a 'proper' system tray. I have ObjectDock filling that function as the dock on th
GreenReaper: Any plans on adding the ability to display Album art?
I saw a couple of these on the Konfabulator Website Link you might want to take a quick look at those and see if you can't reverse engineer to see how they were done.
