Very odd. On every machine we're played the game on, the opening video is the LAST thing to get chopppy (as in, if the game played at 10 fps, the video would still run at 200). Can you post your my 'my games\polmachine2008\debug.err' file here so we can get a better idea of what's going on? Thanks! :)

carpaltunnel: Thanks for sticking with us...I'm guessing most players will end up in the 'I have the buy a new VIDEO CARD TOO?!?! No thanks!' boat, which is regretable but understandable. I'm sure your computing experience in general will improve with some beefier video muscle behind it :)

Hmm...I dont see anything inherently wrong. Could you install https://www.stardock.com/products/SmartException/ and email the exception log to [email protected] ? That should put us squarely in the spot where the crash is happening. Thanks again for your help! :)

Hey Sprinkle, Unfortunatly the Windows Error file dosent give us much useful information (:( Could you track down you 'my documents\my games\polmachine2008\debug.err' file and post it's contents here? That should give us more to work with. :) Thanks!
Driver Date: 11/28/2005 18:12:08
Airb: Can you update your drivers and see if the crashes continue? Seems like a small thing, but God only knows what DirectX is expecting and not receiving based on the date of those drivers ;)
And my video drivers is up to date...
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeon-prer300-xp.html According to this there's a November 2006 update available...try installing that and see if the problem is fixed.

Hey Tom, Is this still giving you trouble? I've put this in the hands of the right people, but unfortunatly there's little us game devs can do about Impulse and regestry problems...besides forwarding bugs, that is :) On the bright side, 1.01 is pretty much the same as 1.0 besides a few minor fixes and an updated 'Interview' in the Europa scenerio. We were going to go crazy with LOTS of bonus features for the 'Day 1 update', but find that most players do
For some states, like Florida, I could barely see the state itself there was so much stuff in it!
One of the features we want to add in an update is a 'Scaling' option. Right now, as more peices appear on the board, they will slowly get smaller. We can put the speed of this into the hands of the user so the board stays as cluttered/clean as they would want it :)

It naturally gets more difficult as the game progresses. The Campaign actually firces a given difficulty on you per-candidate (Washington is 'Painful', IIRC). Media interviews should happen all the time (except MP games)...do the Camera icons randomly appear? You should hear a gong and see a spray of stars where they show up. You then have to send your candidate to the camera that coorisponds with their party (blue = democrat, red = republican).

Hey guys, XP users: Can you download and run https://www.stardock.com/products/smartexception/ while playing the game? It should get data from where the crash is occuring, which you can send to me at [email protected] . Vista users: Since smart exception is XP only ATM, can you guys open the 'games\pm2008\debug.err' file and paste the contents here? I'd like to se

We actually have some pretty robust tools for the game...perhaps we'll release them in an 'unsupported' state, since they're pretty unpolished (but get the job done) We had to go with a goofy version of Europe since (we feared) there'd be an uproar if we stuck super realistic issues in our game's 'two party' system.

Can everyone having this problem check their 'my games\pm2008\debug.err' files and post the contents in this thread? I saw this on my old laptop, but it didn't support DX9c / shader 2.0 We'll get to the bottom of this ;)

Just using the 'PrintScreen' button should spit Screenshots out to the 'my games\pm2008\screenshots' folder. Also, if you have a preference, the Options menu lets you tweak the file output (jpg, png, ect) if you want finer control.

lol I was quite confused at first, but thanks for the laugh. Glad you guys are enjoying Lord Kona's romp through our Political System :)
Are there gonna be additional candidates we will be able to download as patches after game is out?
Yup. We'll be updating the game frequently, with new candidates, new candidate peices, and lots of other goodies to keep things fresh :)

Greetings Andy! Sorry you haven't been able to get through a game (:( Can you open your 'my games\pm2008\debug.err' file and past the contents here? I'd like to see what's going on when it crashes :) Thanks!
Hello sir, I'm having a great time with your game so far, but could you please explain to me why the computer gets unlimited (or at least, much more) issue points than I do? I can barely take any stances at all.
Some of the pre-made candidates have beefier stats than the average player (we can't have your Average Joe better statisticially than Honest Abe). You'lll want to take a limieted stance in the editing process, then magnify it while playing the game by ta

Terfpan: Can you post your debug.err? I'd like to see whats going on with your audio drivers. Plus, can you try turning off all the music and sfx to see if that helps? Thanks!

Here's the official list of changes to make in the 'prefs' file for the textures to automaticall re-generate upon game-start. ForceTextureUpdate=1 DeviceType=1 BehaviorFlags=68 note: You'll want to save a version with the old values as well if this dosent fixt the problem. Otherwise the textures will regenerate each time the game starts (which results in a longer load time <img src="../images/smiles/mad.gif" border=0 ALIGN="

Enkydu, In addition to the tech support email, could you post your problem here (if you havn't already) to see if other players have found a solution to your issue? Also, are you playing the Retail CD version (with or without the 1.01 patch) or are you playing off TotalGaming.Net? In the meentime we'll be working to get these problems fixed (and I assure you, none of us have been writing 'phony' reviews <img src="../images/smiles/j
