Also, since you're having crashes, could you post your debug.err so we can check your system settings? Thanks! Suprisingly, despite it being a 20$ title and having a pre-existing code-base to work from, I think this was the hardest game we've ever had to develop. Hopefully some of these updates will fix the problems players have encounterd, but crash-wise and game-play-wise.

Yeah, I got this once...has to do with Windows recognising new fonts. Let us know if a reboot does the trick :)
Weird...we'll look into this :)
I see you have two displays....are those two seperate cards? Or one card with two ports. Also, can you disable multisampling and bring your resolution down to see if that gets the map displayed? Thanks!
The more of these files I see, the more I'm convinced it has to do with the damn 'FPS Throttling' problem that we had in GC2. Did we learn our lesson? You'd THINK we would have :P Anyways, we'll try and get an update to you guys ASAP. Boss is out of town, but since a 1.03 update shouldn't need marketing approval, we should be good to go. We'll keep you posted.
We also have several other editors that may be released in an 'upsupported' form...they WORK (they're how we made the core maps and issues) but for the average user they may too clunky to use. We'll keep you posted :)
If you've gotten that far then it's not the Shader2 issue... Can you update your drivers and see if that does the trick? :) Thanks!
Cool...let us know if that does the trick :)
Try turning off 'Map Glow' and 'Unit/Character Outlines'. These can suck up rendering time :( Hope those help!
When you start the game, the launcher should have a 'Read Manual' option. Or, if you're feeling more adventurous, check your '\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\The Political Machine 2008' folder where the pm2008manual.pdf exists :) Enjoy!
WeisNix: Any luck?
Hmmm...you're the second ATI Mobility Radeon that is having this problem. Can you turn off anti-aliasing and the map glow to see if you can get through a whole game? Also, can you copy your 'my documents/my games/polmachine2008/debug.err' file here? I'd like to get a better peek under the hood :) Thanks!
inover: How are the framerates before the crash? And can you get through a game without crashing? Also, can you turn off anti-aliasing and 'black borders around the game objects' to see if that gets you any further. Right now we're in the process of building some machines that can reproduce these weird crashes, but obviously laptops are a bit more difficult to replicate (:( Oh, and (this may seem obvious) but be careful when playing on soft surfaces with your mac
curbyourentropy: Do you also get the choppiness in FullScreen mode? Also, can you all try turning off the 'Map Glow' option. It's quite a hog...I'd like to see performance sans that effect. This thread reminds me...gotta get an option in for shoing the framerate for the next update!
Unfortunatly everyone from sales is gone, but I'm sure we can get this straightened out next Monday :) Sorry the game didn't work for you :(
Hey Josh, Yeah, for some reason older drivers have a trouble with the reference counting of DX objects. Try updating to the newest drivers and we'll see where that gets us :) Thanks!
are you saying that Boogiebac may be trying to steal credit for your post, and Charles's work?
Whenever I can get away with it ;)
With the candidate creator you can play as anyone you want :) I had a wicked 'Spongebob vs Squidward' campaign going on, but Squidward's disapproval of 'Withdrawing Troops from Iraq' beat me in the end :(
Cool stuff ID :) Glad you enjoyed your victory...time to up the difficulty ;)
blue88: I'm seeing it on my home version of SDCentral. Perhaps you need to update the app itself? Under 'tools>settings>general>auto update' make sure the option is selected to check for sdcentral updates on startup. Hopefully this will kick-start sdcentral into seeing the update...if not, it sounds like a reinstall of SDC will also do the trick. Thanks for putting up with the growing-pains of adding Impulse support to the whole infrastructure :)
We're currently compiling a list of what's being fixed and when we'll get it out. There are a few major crashes that some people are having. We'd like to get those snuffed out to ensure better experience for everyone :) Thanks for your paticence.
Thanks for the info, guys. We're currently trying to get some computers up that simulate these specs. We'll get back with you both ASAP.
The OP sounds like he is speaking more out of frustration than anything else. In his defense, there are/were a number of painful bugs at launch that made the game difficult to approach.
Fair enough, but specifics are definatly more useful than angry complaints ;) And most of those issues have been dealt with...now we just gotta get the update into your hands :)
At least it's constructive critisism ;p
*bleh* Those are ALOT of leaked resource messages :( Never good. Can you update your drivers and see if those go away? :) Thanks!
