10) Why you little... D'OH!
Firestorm
There's this guy I used to know... BIG indie band fan. Hardly anyone could stand him. Why, you ask? Well, he wasn't so much a fan of the bands as he was a fan of the "scene" (there's that annoying little word again.) He loved being a fan of an "underground" act. The second said act went big, he disowned them, because apparently, being able to make a living through your craft is automatically equal to selling out. And he despised those people who became fans of the band thanks to the ex
Posted by miriku in the thread Brad posted a link to: "no big deal at all, i just dont want to aim the scene to either him, or his crowd of aol friendly programmers, or the aol types he writes for." So what are we now, "Stardock kids" or "AOL Types"? Amazing what the world looks like if you're narrow-minded enough, eh, miriku?
Let him rant... It's not as if he'll change anything in the grand scheme of things, other than the meaningless boundaries he imposes in his mind, and in those of his yes-men. Seriously, what can he do by "excluding" for-profit devs from the "scene"? Are people suddenly gonna stop using WB? I doubt it.
Sorry to hear that, Frogboy
Funny that a "scene" promoting artistic and technological innovation should have such a long-ass list of rules I have a problem with the whole thing, excep 5,6, and 12.
lol @ grayhaze I remember only one game ever shipping on DVD... One of those Tex Murphy games from Access. You can buy it on 5 CDs or one DVD.
I'd be Procrastination Man. I could be as lazy as I wanted without consequences.
/me shows up wearing nothing but a bow tie and a smile. Oops... Guess this is not THAT kind of party. /me promises to return after putting some clothes on
95a isn't working so fine for me :\ My system tray is not being displayed by the Mac skin. The Windows Classic skin doesn't display it, either. And I can't for the life of me foigure out how to make the Mac bar absorb the menus of the active windows.
Photoshop 6.0, PhotoPlus 5, The GIMP, Paint Shop Pro 7, Harm's Tile Editor, Texsynth, Texture Maker 32, Wally... I'll use whatever is out there that fits my needs. Of course, you wouldn't know it by looking at my empty skin list, but I DO skin lol I just haven't gotten up the nerve to upload anything yet.
He's 85. Jack LaLanne is his daddy.
Uhh... I meant "Transmutate" up there. I can't type worth a crap today.
Cool! I didn't know there were more pages. I got to see treetog, Elfkura, DavidK, Transumate, Migellito, Chichigirl... Nice to be able to put faces to the names As for my own pic, _I_ don't show up in photographs Maybe I'll post one later, if my scanner decides to behave like one for a change <img src="http://i
Frogboy looks remarkably similar to the mental image I had of him. Alexandrie is gorgeous, if I may say so. Jafo, I'd already seen. Cool dude. Paxx and Koasati are older than I thought. For some reason I thought they were in their late teens-early 20s. Where's Shoggot? I take it he doesn't show up in photographs?
Whoa, that's a sweet skin. I don't recognize it from anywhere. Then again, the folks at Stardock love to tease us... (coughDOCKcough)
Mecha: The wax kind works on monitors, unfortunately for me, who had to clean up the mess
Hey, at least no one's drawn Pikachu on your monitor with a crayon...
I recall seeing a collection of NFL-themed dashboard skins somewhere... If I can remember the site, I'll post the link here. Maybe the same artist has done baseball-themed ones.
My personal favorites: L-blinds by Adni18 (make sure you get the updated version. It rocks!) XP Forest by Alexandrie iWin by Paxx Latte by Gillon Eyegrabber by Dangeruss DDE by Dangeruss You can't go wrong with any of those
/me wishes people would actually read the info on the Stardock website BEFORE asking the same old questions. It's not as if there aren't links to every single program on this website.
And stop saying "gay" as if it were an insult. It gives away your age and degree of maturity, junior.
Buy one. Or use the shareware.
Do what you want... Skinning should be, first and foremost, about the artist's personal enjoyment. If someone else happens to dig your work, hey, awesome. But just do the type of skin you enjoy doing. If you do, the love and care you put into it will shine through and you'll end up with something better crafted than if you were doing a skin you had no interest in creating. Of course, if someone offers you money for an XP skin... I say do it <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/sm
Microsoft endorses WindowBlinds, having given them their stamp of approval and a spot on the XP catalog. If they don't have a problem with a program that lets users apply Luna-based skins (and which, in fact, includes a Luna clone among its sample skins), why should you?
