Um, Yoda? I think you should post a more simple version.
How's this? Previously, promotions within the Jedi Republic were based solely on the points of submitted games. Because of player inactivity in the upper ranks of the Jedi, this is no longer a workable system. In the future, promotions will be based on player activity - whether in terms of submitting games to the Metaverse or posts on the Forums. Players who do BOTH will generally advance through t

Even if it's necessary to manually patch the profiles, Ray and Staffa definitely need the recognition for their former achievements. Those two really wrote the first books on strategy for this game; a nod would be a nice gesture.
Only a half day tomorrow. Taking a little vacation time to do an inspection on the new house. But it's 12:30 AM...time to put the bottle to bed and climb into the cupboard. See y'all over the weekend.
Pouting? I was just getting a refill. It's a good thing I'm not at work, or I couldn't drink this wonderful Jameson's!
:( Sorry. At least you didn't break the other rule - letting mere work interfere with the game.
posted 3 games, trying to keep up with Greldon... Need several beers now.
What, no drinking WHILE you were playing? :SURPRISED: SHAME! SHAME! We might not have as many house rules as the RBers, but letting a mere game interfere with alcohol consumption goes against all that we hold dear! :D
Wasn't "Suicidal" below "Cakewalk" way back in the early days? If Spellforce or T-Man ask, I still have the modular artwork files for the shields...I could always drip some blood off the crossed sabers or something. :notsure:
TheoLeo:
I like empires with lots of active players. any suggestions?
Well, Special Forces is full of pretty active players, except for myself and Quack, and we make it up here in the Forums. Stop by our thread and say hello. Warning - be prepared for a small amount of insanity and a large appreciation for alcohol and pointless stories.
2001! Where's Hal?
As I see no Jedi have answered these challenges, I must fulfill my duty as an honorary Jedi and respond. This is intended as humor; if you're offended, I'm probably just channelling Pontius. :)
Top ten reasons not to join the Jedi Republic. 1 Why is their Light saber so long? Answer: to compenstae for lack of...
...gentlemen's agreements from those pesky Euros who always seem to snipe from long range?
2 If they are so strong in Force it should be
And thats why we are called Nefarious means the same but with a tad more flair and way more evil but without the stutter ...
From the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary: Evil: morally reprehensible; sinful, wicked Nefarious: flagrantly wicked or impious; evil I don't know about "way" more evil...but s'pose y'all just change your names to "The Morally Reprehensible Empire" and "The Flagrantly Impious Empire?" We lowly do-gooders could call you "
What do you mean trading for disruptors?
I think Cypher is referring to the difficulty in getting the AIs to part with military techs - they're horrendously overvalued. This isn't really an alignment issue, more of a comment on the tech-trading system in general. I believe that fixing the alignment "loophole" you mention was discussed as a possibility for the expansion pack, but I don't know if it's going to make its way into the finished product.
FlyingMonkeyofDeath:
I wish I had snow. I am in Tennesee, home of the free hicks, and all we get is ice, about one a month...Besides, as a yankee, it is very amusing to see southerners deal with snow. They run to the grocery store, buy it out, drive home like crazy people, and sit and huddle over a fire with one inch of snow and a bit of ice that is gone in 15 minutes! Send snow!
What are you talking about? Schools closed early due to the snow in Nashville today - we
Cari - One right here on galciv.com. The tag line reads "All rights reservered" instead of "reserved."
Here is another chance for Ben this turn to jump in, before i'll have my turn
Icho: Free time for the setup is in short supply at the moment, what with overtime and other commitments. Keep the ball rolling, and Ah'll catch it next time 'round. On a side note, RB appears to be able to run the succession games without quite so many hoops to jump through - it might be worthwhile to work with them on setting up the next one... :notsure:
I never knew Altarians to have such a sadistic streak...
All depends on how you define "sadism..." So the game's afoot. I'm at work for several hours yet; will check in later.
It will be...on less than half an A4 sheet of paper. It will require...only one signature. They will never know what hit them.
If you REALLY want to screw things up, send it to 'em on a standard U.S. 3-hole punched letter sheet. It'll take them months to find a binder that can hold it.
Likewise, I'll try the "G" team as well. But if it starts causing problems, I may need to bow out - we shall see. Regarding the "house rules" of trading for cash only with Alex - FYI, this isn't always the case with Maso games, although it does seem to be a common scenario. I have a Maso Large cooking where ALL of the minors are buying, and Scotty is actually large enough to defend himself militarily! One of these days, maybe I'll see these huge minors that everyone else has mentioned..
P.S. Congratulations on the achievement, Jedis. If you manage to put some breathing space between yourselves and the farmers, you have a bit of a break before the next challenge - the Euros and their deadly paperwork attacks. Recommend that you take care of them before April 15th. Think about the damage a European form attack could do during U.S. income tax season... :SURPRISED:
is there athread or anthing which tells me exactly how the scoring system works?
(brrrrrrr) I believe the mighty centurion Alexus, formerly of the Jedi, has an Excel spreadsheet that will calculate all of this to within a point or two. But in a nutshell: - ALL of your scores are divided into 30-day blocks from your last submission; - First game in a block is worth full points. Each additional game's Metaverse points are divided by the square roo
Aha. But no need for a separate complete install of the game? How about mods? If I pull "Smuggling" now, it's probably going to wreck a game I have in progress...
Fast question, RBers - what hoops do we need to jump through in order to avoid crashes? I've been following the Jedi's problems in getting this set up, and am trying to find the time to execute the 3,731 steps necessary to get going. I'm running a clean 1.13 install, with only the "Smuggling" mod. If this is good to go as-is, I'm interested.
Darkspire:
Umm , dont shoot me
I use a katana, actually.
Im not too sure if your in the right place
But I am, and that's what's important.
i am a member, as Darkspire, on lots of game forums and the GalCiv forums are the most friendly forums ive encountered
Agree that - MOST of the time - this is an outstanding, entertaining and informative forum. (Bump) Back to the first page with you! You're in the Top 10, now. Advertising is important.
January 18 - Galaxy Day. Commemorates the day the Aldarian Empire was first recognized as a top ten empire on the galaxy map.
An inspection of the galactic map shows that Aldarian space is restricted by GROSS and the MWC. Considering the history between those two empires, though, it's probably not going to be a particularly quiet corner of the galaxy... :HOT:
sorry even if I must go on alone I will not leave my empire or my home here
Congrats on your resolution. Aldar set an example in staying independent and not merging with a major power. It took a long time to get even one recruit, but they're in the Top 10 now, while some of the old majors have slipped into obscurity. Happy recruiting!
