potatoedoughnut, I agree and like that commercial says "sometimes I feel like a nut and sometimes I don't" there should be enough options to go around to suit all styles and types of games you want to play. ----------------------------------------------- Code Monkey, I was afraid of that. If this is about the Metaverse then I see the point as moot because even if this one ability does give one a big advantage there are so many other permutations with all t

If you really want a PQ boost, it's probably trivial to make a mod that gives you it. Then you can play with it turned on and be happy. ````````````````````````````````````````````````````` But then what's the point of removing it in the first place, at least the 15% PQ ability takes up 9 ability points, you mean I should have 15%PQ and the extra speed I can buy with my now unused points?
At work now so I'm not playing and writing at the same time. I was just thinking outright winning isn't the only thing fun about this game. In the game I'm playing now I finally worked my way into the top spots and I am flush with battleships and dreadnaughts. I could easily move them in for the kill and wipe the Dregnins from the map instead I choose to send a few choice ships and techs to their enemies and when one AI grows too strong send ships to the other AI. This way I am
Hey listen I never said I was unappreciative. I have been spreading the Galactic Civilization gospel ever since I got the game. The quality of the game and the support has been superb. That being said I don't see how removing options from a game that can be de-selected at any time by any person helps to INCREASE the user base, instead it makes it more selective. You don't see Ensemble removing "cheat" codes from the Age of series because it makes the game too easy. There were m
Hehe, back here again. My whole point here was this was optional just like the difficulty levels. You didn't have to use it if you don't want to, just click them off and they will never bother you anymore. Those who want that type of game can use it to any degree they want. What is wrong with that? I 'll tell you, it's the Metaverse, in any other game a ladder, and when you have a ladder people will ..... we all know the answer to that. I see no problem with having opt
"I've yet to see a game that didn't use the first 1-2 months as an extended beta test" `````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Personally I don't usually play a strategy or RTS game much longer than that unless it's a persistant pay-as-you go world like Everquest or a RPG like Baldur's Gate if it take that long. The few exceptions to that were MOO1, MoM, Civ2 and Age of Empires. All good games and groundbreaking in their time. BTW MoM was full of cheese and exploits,
Well then this is a decision Brad has to make. Is he going to make a fun game or cater to the whiners? That's Brad's decision and it's his wallet. I already bought the game so they have my bucks whether I play or not. This is just like the thing when they went after smokers, EVERYBODY thought that was good but when we said this is only the start they WILL come for your favorite vice too nobody listened. Can you say FAT TAX? So don't hold onto your favorite "vice" in this game T
Look, playing now with 5 AI, 2 bright (good and evil) 3 normal (neutral) huge galaxy, tight groups, uncommon planets and without my 15% PQ at the start I would be on exactly 3 planets with PQ higher than 20 with both the early PQ techs. As it is I'm just barely holding. Drengin (bright) have just about subjugated the rest of the galaxy. I look at their best planets, 30's and high 20's. The only reason they are leaving me alone is I rushed to Battleship while they fought. I had no reso
I'm not going to use 1.03, too drastic changes. Why oh why don't they leave a GOOD game alone and make additions to it not NERF the game to make it harder than it already is? This is turning into Everquest. Nerf any fun that comes along. Quick, quick before someone has some fun Nerf it!!
That was just a sych update no user data in that.
Grab the one here at this link it's been updated and has a more readable font. You can also print it easier as it has no background graphic that wastes ink. http://www.brimstonedragons.net/azakain/downloads.php
Remember that some of the cheesy things that happen at low AI levels no longer happen or are accounted for at higher levels.
This is a Starbase thread and I don't really have the time to read all the posts here and on the bug thread but I saw this strange thing. Using the latest build but not that beta, on normal difficulty I saw the AI (the yellow guys) building multiple starbases and not on resources. Each base was dedicated to one aspect of improvement. There was a small base for production, one for morale and one for military (may have been trade/economic). I thought this was stramge since one base could
This just in from GNN. The extreme electromagnetic fluxes caused by similar Starbases in the same sector has been determined to be the cause of the high uncurable cancers in those sectors. The United Planets has declared that multiple Starbases by the same race in a sector will not be tolerated. Our scientists have determind that due to technology differences between the races there is no dangerous electromagnetic interaction between Starbases of different races. Henc
I was disappointed with MOO3 too. Galactic Civilizations is a great game. It is not the Civs or the MOOs but has roots in both. It is it's own game with it's own strategies. If you liked those games this is a must get. It is one of those games that just when you think you've had enough 3 hours later you are still playing. When you finish a game and say time for dinner you start a new game and don't stop till breakfast. Grab this one, you won't regret it.
I believe it was but don't quote me on it. I voted no. Maybe someone else will verify.
I had this event yesterday with the fully updated version via Stardock. They gave +10 to transport attack.
The way I see it and I may be wrong is that morale between 52 and 100 is like a throttle on pop growth with 100 being wide open and 52 in idle. A planet left alone will gradually decrease in morale until pop comes in stasis with planet capacity and then pop growth will level out at 52 morale. Building a +morale project will increase morale therefore increasing for a time pop growth only to creep down again if nothing is added. You have now increased the planets population and it
In the screen with all the starting options are abilities, in a new new game they are preset and in a new game are set to last settings. Click around there and you will pop a window (I'm at work so don't have game active now). Anyway in the window you can uncheck and check abilities and % of them with 10 available points. You must uncheck some first to get points to check something else. As you see there are various ways to start up. They are all good. This game will snap in after play
Add: once the colonizing phase is over set mil/soc/research to 34/33/33 or wherever you think they need to go. Research and build trade projects and sell them to minors for cash.
This will get you started till you get the hang of the game, it is not intended as a guide for normal gameplay. First start a game in the smallest galaxy with plenty of habitable planets on the easiest level and one AI to get you started. Take 15% PQ and something else as abilities. When in the game proper ctrl-n till you get a good starting location with 2 or more 20+ planets and maybe a resource Then set your taxes at 50% and your spending at 100%. You w
I picked +range in my starting picks and compared my starting colony ship and survey ship with and without and saw no difference. Is this a positive +1 to range?
Bah that was bad lousy Netscape at work doesn't wrap and I had to type that all in one line or try to format better. Didn't work and I missed all the mispelled words and bad typing..Bah
I didn't play the earlier version but I'm not seeing the ease of keeping morale that some people are. Playing a deliberate game on normal and keeping the tax rate at 50% and building all techs as they come availabele I have high morale on my jumbo planets 25 and above but 20 to 21 hover in the 60's and high 50's and less than 20 drop to 48 at times. I even took a few planets with influence and had some of mine go skull and crossbones. I didn't use propaganda at all. Maybe
Ok I checked this. It works but not like I thought. I had ships, battle something, WITHOUT shipyard were 5ATT/6DEF/44HP, WITH shipyard were 5/7/44 so I gained one defense using a shipyard. I guess you have to get over the rounding down hump before you see results, with better ships it will probably be more noticeable.
