I note that some people have mentioned how the outcome of the game is determined early on. I must be blessed with most of my games since this seems to rarely happen with me (it does happen - but it's not the norm). If your games are ending up wherein you predicted a victory early on, then, yeah, that's one thing. However, if you're like my friend who quits because he doesn't see a victory in sight then I'd say you're missing out on a lot. One time the Yor and Drengin were ver

Hmmm ... I'm somewhat mixed on this though I would have to lean toward Popup Target. There are many times when I find it fun to try and balance everything out (research, production, etc.) to avoid empty q's and so it doesn't bother me as much. Other times, however, I feel a bit forced to research techs a certain way in order to keep something available for production. Perhaps it could be argued that with no work to do, the people are laid off, and the decrease in jobs turns into an in

1) Don't build every single social project that becomes available. Focus on the ones that increase your economics first. Then, pick certain planets to specialize in other social projects depending upon your need. 2) I prefer these starters: Soil Enhancement Habitat Improvement Banking Center Embassy Fusion Power Plant Of course, some come later than others but this is what I like to aim at for my govenor. :)

I don't know why but when I had my first recession event I thought it was only a one turn event. Many turns later, I noticed that my awesome treasury was down to a few hundred billion credits. In a panic, I started scraping expensive social projects and ships while selling technologies to the minor races. The funny part about this whole thing is that this recession acutally SAVED me! The Dregin empire was a level higher in intelligence than everyone else (including me LOL ) and was

I hope some kind of fix can be done in regard to defense. I had 4 missles stacked with a bunch of Dreadnaughts to protect them. Yeah, right. A simple, single starfighter came in and wiped out all my missles! :sniff!:

The UP topic was to force the greatest economic power to give 5% to the other civs. The Terran Alliance is always rated as the highest economic power. Naturally I vote "No" and, ironically, so does one other power (in my last case, the Yor). I lose the vote ... end of story ... ... except that when I go into the UP screen to see the laws, it shows that the Yor, not me, having to pay. No wonder they voted "no"! :D Incidentally, I did not see any decrease in my wealth so I presume

I'm not sure if this belongs in the Download sticky or not since I've been downloading just fine. However, when I look at the exe file, the version is 1.0.0.1. When I go into Stardock Central, it says I have installed version 1.02. Also, do I upgrade Stardock Central via Stardock Central? If so, I can't seem to find it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! :)

I saved a game wherein I did not have control of the Senate. When I reloaded it, the Senate still showed that I did not have control but when I clicked the bonus button, it said that my party was in control and listed my benefits.

I agree! Count me as a happy customer! :) Brad & Company, please don't despair at the recent rise in negativity. I can't understand, for the life of me, why people who don't like a game (any game) continue to visit the game's forum or post hateful remarks. Constructive criticism is obviously fine. I think we know what I'm talking about. The grumblers will be gone ... eventually. Here's to a future (and current) happy GalCiv exprience! :CONGRAT:

Okay, I feel as if I don't understand something here. Some people are suggesting that if I were to shut down all my production (both mil & soc) on all but one planet then the one planet producing would crank out mega-stuff in no time flat. I thought the individual planets each had their own max prod limit. Going back to my illustration above, the one producing planet would easily max out in production and the rest of the UIs would remain as cash. No? :notsure:

I like option (I) (production is converted to money which goes back to the federal coffers). It has the ability to distribute the IUs across the empire (via the spend rate slider) but, unlike option (H), option (I) gives you the ability to simply save up your money for the future which, in my opinion, is realistic and won't kill game balance. Option (B) is a close second. Please ... OH PLEASE, do not add more sliders, buttons, do nads, gizmos, etc. The simplicity of the game

Sorry. I haven't had the time to read all of this so please pardon me if this has already been reported. I went to declare war by attacking a ship. The screen prompts up wherein the Senate is to vote on whether we go to war or not. They vote it down and war is, therefore, not declared. So then, on that same turn with my same fleet, I attack the same ship. The Senate votes on it again, and this time, war is declared. Is this a "bug"? If not, may I suggest the follo

If I recall correctly, the Alliance victory in BOTF required the allies to control 90% of the galaxy (human player or no human player). Translating this to GalCiv, it means that if the Tolarians and the Dregin allied together and controlled 90% of the galaxy, then they would win. The human player loses. This is a bit more difficult than focusing the alliance victory on the human player only. Now, the above stated example is only an example. I don't have a clue how alliance/political

I think this forum will be safe until a sequel is made. Then you have the risk of high expectations which can often mutate into a game killer and forum hatred breeder. Consequently, I appreciated Frogboy's post on Apolyton wherein he "lowered" our expectations of GalCiv. :)

I would not have found out about GalCiv if it wasn't for Apolyton. Then again, it wasn't even in a forum. It was that "GalCiv Goes Gold!" link that brought me. With that said, I think John has a good point. The MOO3 forums appear to be filled with much anger and resentment. A mere, innocent post about GalCiv at this time may be only adding fuel to the fire. And yet, merely mentioning another game on a forum is bad? Hmmmmm ... this is a tricky matter. :notsure:
