Since everyone's talking, I'll jump on the bandwagon. I don't particularly like President Bush, the Dixie Chicks or country/western music. I do think that boycotting the Dixie Chicks over some lame remarks is on par with the whole "freedom fries" sillyness. Makes us look foolish to the world at large. ~SDC~

I've been able to achieve all victory conditions except for the tech victory. I suspect the reason for this is because the largest map I've played so far has been medium. So I end up winning (or losing) the game long before I'm close to researching all the techs. Or maybe I just suck at the game. :D ~SDC~

Scratch my earlier post, #273 re: CTD every time the UP meets. SmartException reports an integer divide by zero error. I tried the save game file on my laptop and it WORKED! Fixed the Labour.event and that resolved the issue. Sorry for the false alarm and if you read this Frogboy, thanks for refreshing my memory about that mod in a different thread. ~SDC~

On my third game as Universalist, I can say with relative certainty that you won't get more yellow stars nearby by picking Universalist as your party. IMHO, I believe Luck will give you a better chance of good random events - found a Ranger in just about every game as Universalist. Twice in one game so far. Also it should lower your chances of getting the bad random events. ~SDC~

CTD every time the UP meets. SmartException reports an integer divide by zero error. This seems to be the same problem reported at #268 by Citizen Viktor Todorovic. I'm running 1.03.054. Never had the problem until upgrading to this latest version today. Let me know at [email protected] if you would like me to send you my save game file. RayChua, the Majors do start with equivalent powers. They will also buy Stellar Cartography tech. Try it. Wasn't the question about whether Stellar Cartography was useless? If so, it's not completely useless if you can get back some $ now, is it? :) I'm not advocating this as a strategy since IMO it borders being a cheese tactic, since you're selling useless tech to the AI. I'm just making the point that you can get some additional use out of Stellar Cartography other than the

Sorry if this has been answered already. If you browse to the last page in the Library, currently at => http://www.galciv.com/library.asp?wp=7&sort=UpdateDate&searchtext=&order= , you'll find the Stardock Certified icon next to Frogboy's Dangerous animals event. Since no other Library items including Frogboy's other creations are Stardock Certified, I'm guessing that the certification is still not in prime time. Can anyone at Stardock confirm this? Due to concerns with my Metaverse account, I wi

To elaborate on what Jaime Wolf said at #2: It's a cheap tech to research. If you sell it for 50 credits to all 5 major civilizations you will make $250. I haven't tried selling it to the minors yet, but if they will bite, you could make even more. I know that 250 isn't THAT much money but could be a godsend in some situations, especially the beginning game when money is scarce. ~SDC~

Hey Guy thanks for the post. It's fun to get Frogboy talking about the game. I had no idea that much thought was put into AI foreign policy behavior. I'm sure there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than we realize. ~SDC~

On one end of the spectrum there's QuickSilver - took what, 2 months to release a "data" patch for a frightening troublesome title. On the other end of the spectrum, Stardock is listening to its community and releasing updates and balancing the game on a WEEKLY basis. Toaddog, you freaking amaze me. It wasn't just someone who whined about PQ, most everyone can agree that it was cheese which needed to be nerfed. Stardock is doing something unequalled in today's gaming. It's just incredible how so

Hey Murdoch, I for one thought your post was cool. I hadn't looked at the picture that closely and appreciated your observation. Thanks for sharing, and keep those posts coming. Most of the people here are cool-headed, rational people. I'm not sure what happened to Aerain - a bad hair day, perhaps? ~SDC~

I had a minor race defect to me once in a game. One thing for the wishlist - I wish the influence icon displayed the level of influence of the minor races as well as the main races. It would be nice to be able to compare the human influence vs. that of a minor race in the same sector. Perhaps this is by design but I'm not sure. ~SDC~

Great work HawaiiFive-O. I was about to post that there was something wrong with the Labour Unrest mod when I found this thread. Thanks for the fix. ~SDC~

Although I contributed to this thread my making negative remarks about MOO3, IMHO Phaedyme has made some fine points. Fist of John, it's quite unnecessary to resort to personal attacks on Phaedyme. It weakens your argument substantially. You don't need to feel intimidated by the use of "big" words. I'm not going to get into the finer points of effective debating here, but I will say that it bothers me to see a valued member of this forum being demeaned simply because you don't agree with her. Jeff, what worked for me was to use Winamp to save a playlist to the Playlist subdirectory within the Galactic Civilizations directory. If the playlist ends up in the Playlist subdirectory you won't have to specify the full path, just the name of the playlist. Also, make sure the songs are MP3s (WMAs or other formats won't work) and are 160Kbps or below. If that doesn't work, e-mail the playlist to me at [email protected] and I'll compare it to mine. ~SDC~
