Any one remember Rebellion and Birth Of The Federation? What about Stars, and that dismal game that came out in Sept 2000 - Reach For the Stars? Then there is IG and IG two. I heard that IG 3 was renamed, what I don't recall.
Atrocities
So just in case, I zipped the entire Game 1 folder. Here is the link => http://astmod.com/Game1.zip If these files are not the right ones, PLEASE let me know. I would really like to know why the game keep crashing.
You guys really need to set up a forum feature that allows us to edit our posts. :notsure: I don't think those files are the ones you want. They don't have any info in them. >:(
Oops sorry about that. I put them into a zip. http://astmod.com/galciv.zip
Just incase, I have upload the save game file and the previous save game file. Save Game 1. http://astmod.com/Game 1.sav Previous Save Game http://astmod.com/PreviousAutoSave.sav Please let me know if these are the files. In the mean time I am to heart sick to keep playing this great game. I truly love how you guys have set the game up, but these crashes just take the wind out of my sales. Again, please let me know if these files are the ones you need to trouble
If you want to see what the game screen looks like after I restart the game take a look http://astmod.com/galcivcrashscreen.PNG Note that there is nothing in any of the windows. No planets, ships, star map, etc, just nothing.
Ok this will be the 5th game I have played, and it will be the 5th game that has crashed on me. When I try to restore the game it crashes. What file do I need to send you so that you can see WTF the problem is? Please help as this is becoming rather bothersome.
Damn! Take away all the fun exploits. (:(
I love this game. :d
I have played SEIV (Space Empires IV) since its beta back in August 2000. I love the game, but have to agree that the unmodded AI leaves a lot to be desired. However, there are many mods out that have dramatically improved the AI. One other thing that is great about SEIV are the available mods and ship sets. Visit my site to see the Star Trek ship sets that I have developed, and links to other ship set sites for Babylon 5, Starwars, and others. ( http://galileo.spaceorts.
Yes, thanks.
You can sell technology on payment plans? WTF! >:( Why didn't I think of that?
I have been telling people about the game and how much I have enjoyed it. I guess if a few more people did this, the sales figures, whatever they are, will increase. And with that, continued support of the game, and a GalCiv 2. :)
What I have found is that I run out of money fast producing Colony ships and only have about 3 or 4 colonies. I then spend the next 200 turns getting out of debt and not researching squat as I have no funds. Around turn 200 +/- 20 or so, The enemy AI starts to take over my planets. This has been this way for all the games I have played. I have read a lot about the strategy of the game, but still find that I am lacking in ability to adiquitely get my empire off and running.
:) Looking forward to the ship builder. :) I hope that I am able to convert many of the ships I have designed for Space Empires IV over for use in this game. Should be interesting to try and I look forward to the challenge. ( http://galileo.spaceports.com/~william/index.html )
I too have managed to crash my game twice as a result of Trade. I offer to trade one tech to the AI in exchange for four or five. The AI declines, and I press the LEAVE option and voila, I am looking at the desk top. Posted this in the Game Bugs sticky too.
BUG? I have managed to crash the game to the desk top twice by doing the following. Offer to trade one technology to AI in exchange for four or five technologies. The AI refuses. Click the LEAVE options. CRASH.
I think I was the first player review and I gave it a damn fine review. :)
Thank you very much. :)
Greet site. :)
Agreed. That is one of the reason I want to use my own images. I can control the size of them from a top down view as well as a profile view. I have tried to open the files with every program I have, but no luck. I must be missing something. :notsure:
Thank you all. I made all of them. I also made several other star trek based sets from scratch or from SFC model images for Space Empires IV. I just want to be able to use a few of my images in this game. However, I don't think they will work. I think this game uses models (3D) and although my images are 3d, they may not be exportable to this games 3d format. If that is the case, darn. >:(
I gave it a very favorable rating at Gamespot.com and at the SEIV forum. I like the game and think it is well worth the investment. :d
I have many ship models that I have created and would like to know how I can add them to the game. I found the .MDL files in the GFX folder, but have not been able to open them. I can only assume that they are 3d models and not just images. http://galileo.spaceports.com/~william/main.htm
Thanks guys, EB had it. All I had to do was drive 5 miles to the mall and pick it up. :)
