Not sure if anyone else has noticed... but the forum seems really slow to update for me. Things like the number of unread threads I'm subscribed to, or when I give Karma to someone, it takes the forums a few minutes to update my "view" to properly reflect changes. For example, right now, the subscriptions link up top shows 1 unread thread. But when I click on it, I see all of them are read. Probably by the time I finish this post, it'll finally update to corr

Well, it was worth the thought. Ok, it's borked.
I also like point 2 (in addition to 4, 5, & 6).
However I would be truly shocked if your 'apps team' was actually correct in stating 'there is no other way'.
Oh, believe me, I know. I know exactly which registry access they "need" and quite frankly I think it's Bull.
RND, uncheck "Subscribe to this post" under the quick reply box? Post, then check on another thread to see if it's reapplied? (dunno... just throwing out thoughts.) EDIT: Doh... better one for you. At the top, where it says "Welcome Redneckdude (Sign out | Options)" Click Options -> View All Options Uncheck "Auto subscribe to new posts and replies you create" and save. See if that does it?
lol... yeah, I think yours is more understanding. Ours... well, as an example (and maybe it's coincidence), we've been through a few VPs because they didn't think our CEO's idea was the best.... But it's funny you mention "elevated privileges". We have to set up all of our users as local Administrators on their PCs. Why? Because we have some in house software that requires access to the registry. Our Apps team claims tha
Let me jump back in and say, it's not IT's fault (at least, when it comes to my company). Some of the users I talk about for around here... are VPs... even our own CEO is that way. Essentially, we got no teeth. [e digicons]:D[/e]

In reply to Phoon (seems I still can't quote... lol), As an IT tech for a paper company... you're first paragraph is spot on for here, too. We try telling people all the time, don't share or write down your passwords. They still do. We tell them, don't install anything without clearing it with us first. Yet every time I have to go work on someone's system for a virus, I find all kinds of other things installed on there... some (of t
Teddybearcholla, My personal view on rolling back / uninstalling updates is only if you specifically are experiencing issues. I know other people feel differently, so use your own judgement, there.
Sweet... and here I was thinking it was just me. :P But as for the subscribing to every thread one replies in, I wouldn't know. I do that anyway. [e digicons]:P[/e]
Well, after having spent some time on the site and reading (or is that watching?) through the "About" section, I backed it. :) I gotta say a lot of stuff is looking nice. Now I just need to upgrade my rig.... [e digicons]>_>[/e]
For whatever stupid reason the quote button isn't working for me.... Volt wrote: "EDIT: I had another copy of ConvertData elsewhere that's still working... this is weird..." Yup, somehow the one you were using had gotten corrupted. Now, did you solve this? As I see you have v1.0 of the tool released now. On the chance that you haven't, for my sake of clarity (as I can't seem to find any info on this), I
I don't know a whole lot on the usage of the ConvertData exes, and know nothing of Java (I use vb script), so not sure how much help I'll be.... Does ConverData automatically overwrite files? By looking at what you got there, it looks like it's converting and saving to the same location & name. Are you looping too fast on ConvertData and can it support multiple instances running at once? My own script that calls and uses it waits for each call to co
I'm keeping track. I just haven't had much of a need for it yet. :P
It's a unique game mechanic that takes two years of playing to figure out how it works fully in the game.
Is that continuous time? Let's see... 2 years is 730 days... x 24 hours... 17,520 hours. Anyone have that much game time yet? :P

Whoa whoa... what karma trickery is going on here? Goa gave Wintercross two karma points on the same post? [e digicons]o_O[/e]
This is definitely sad news. While I may still be considered as "young" by many, I do at least understand and relate to the depression. Regardless, he was a funny, funny man and shall always be remembered for the great laughter. RIP, Robin.
Course there's also stuff like this: http://www.forbes.com/sites/gregorymcneal/2014/06/28/facebook-manipulated-user-news-feeds-to-create-emotional-contagion/ Not "recent" news, but still. :/
The ships are of different sizes, although admittedly, not by as much as what they probably should be. It was put forward to the devs at one point to increase the scaling. Although I think part of what contributes to the "same size" feel is that they all have the same rate of maneuverability (as of when I last played... they will eventually get their own rates). The largest are the carriers/dreadnoughts, in terms of what you can pilot. There are supposed to be larger
Sorry... what's this? 13 pages is gonna take me a while to read... was wondering if someone could clue me in real fast. The vid on this page makes it look like an MMO?
It actually will engage before "all clear"... in Sins default, asteroids that are usually guarded by 1 LF and 1 Siege it will auto-cast. But if the player wants to colonize sooner, it doesn't stop them from manually using it.
Suggestion: You may want to change the following line in the colonize abilities on Cap ships: aiUseTime "NotInCombat" to the following: aiUseTime "NoEnemyShipsInGravityWell" Not sure if that's a Rebellion only use time.... But anyway, I've noticed that with auto-cast on (which is how the AI will use it), they tend to colonize the planet without clearing it first and result in the planet being bombed out from under them while they're st
