Agreed :) I have just put a new tutorial up, on changing party information, soon to come will be editing issues then changing the endorsements. I will at some point be doing a Mapping tutorial, but if you need any help with anything, send me a private message and I'll do what I can. I've changed pretty much everything in my game, and I'm currently building the Map.

Changing the Party Views If you've changed the party name, you don't necessarily want the views of the party to be the same as the party you replaced. For example, replacing the republican party with the Libertarian party, they do not have the same views as each other. So lets have a look at what we can edit for this. First things first, we need to find the correct file to edit in

Note to admin: as requested before, a sub forum would be good for modding, if this happens could you move my topics into the sub forum for ease of access to prospective modders. This is part 2 of my modding tutorials. This is about changing the parties in the game, so that you can edit the parties to introduce a new party as a replacement to the current parties. Thanks, I've got a lot more tutorials written ready to post, But they would get lost in the system in the general folder.

I think you need to understand the ideas that are clearly surrounding the release of this game, and think you should maybe actually read the things that stardock have said themselves about this game. YES, It is a cut down version of 2008, to an extent that anyone could have edited themselves, I myself have created an entirely new game from the 2012 version, with a new map and pretty much everything changed (A UK Version, rather than US). Stardock themselves said that they decided t

Hi everyone, I'm just going to create a Modding tutorial for anyone who wishes to know how to edit the game files to change things. If any admins are reading, would you please consider creating a new sub forum for Modding so that its easier to navigate to on the forums? This is part 1 of the tutorial. DISCLAIMER: Before the tutorial starts, I recommend that you backup any files you are about to edit, your changing parts of the game,

You can change information like this by looking in the .XML file for your character in your /documents/mygames/polmachine2012/candidates folder. In there you can set them to what ever you want, but this will remove the pre set balances within the game. Please backup your characters before hand to avoid deleting it. (the trick is to edit the stats directly rather than adding points, pretty sure it works, definitely does for charisma etc.)

Many gameplay elements can be easily added, and It would be nice to see people being pro active than negative about the game. I bought 2012 having never played the 2008 version, But I am quite aware that 2012 is a somewhat cut down version with a few extra features such as battleground states. But most of the pieces are there for anyone to add new content to the game, and It would be really good if we could get a modding community around this game. Simple Xml editing is obviously p

Well there are only a couple of bits and pieces left to do, such as creating the default set of characters (not a priority) and then the big Job of the Map (which I currently have no idea how to do) and changing all the $ signs to £ signs. I've put together a set of tools that let people edit the XML files really easily, using a UI instead of having to read the files. I'll upload them soon, but it will let you change pretty much anything in the game. </p

Hi, I had noticed the electoral votes inaccuracy but I assumed that you'd just used your 2008 xml files or decided on it for gameplay reasons. I edited my xml files to compensate and its all sorted for me now. I'm releasing a program in a few days that gives you easy access to the xml files with an easy interface. Super simple, but will allow people to change the game a little.
