Unfortunately, no. It is embedded in your saved game data from start. You can change - the difficulty (Options, gameplay) - and the victory conditions (ESC, Victory Status, Victory Options), but not - the layout (quantity of resources, frequency of events, pirates, etc) - the conditions (no tech brokering, AI surrenders, ...) - the number of players

In a customized faction, you can only choose the planet system (Alterian, Arb, Iconian, etc...), and not the way the planet are designed (layout, hexagons grouping, bonuses, mines/buildings). It is done randomly by the game. But you can change the leader's logo, foreground and background images, the citizen images, the texts when discussing with this civ, the types of ships, the various colours. But Not the planet. The building are determined by the game, according to the Ben/
I have numerous issues with my games since patch 4.xx was released... And I am rather surprised, as, after 1196 hours in the game (a wonderful journey, by the way...), I can't remember having experienced so many truly game breaking problems. - CTDs when reloading a saved game (from same game version of course) - CTDs when scrolling the map East/West, or North/South - CTDs when creating a commonwealth (especially if planet given by a friendly - but just destroye
I had also this error, but it was not only with the research screen but also diplomacy, or Espionage... Ad yes, RAM was too short, even with 16GB. It was rather obvious when doing "Ctrl+Alt+Del" and running Task manager : CPU + RAM almost full during some operations... There is a VERY interesting blog from Frogboy (Brad Wardell), and it shows very well that you very quickly explode your system with the requirements, if you are too glutton with the map size... <
I cannot compete with all of you. I have something very basic and not very beautiful in front of me. I can not afford much. However, there are not only screens and multiple electronic devices. A quality desktop setup can also take into account what you see around you when you face your electronic wall, and it adds to a relaxed and pleasant environment. Here is what I saw 2 days ago from my computer chair, just looking on my left while playing GC3... <img src="h

Still far far away and I can not play GC3 (where I live/work, access to Steam and game ports are blocked). I wait then for coming back in my homeland in a couple of months for trying the game. And I know that my 1 st goal shall be to find "MY" star !... (the one all founders created a while ago). I see that there is a new DLC. But, patch after patch, I see nothing about founders' stars, and wait for something special about it. Does it get som
Wow. Only a company like Stardock supports a 10 year old game! A big thank you to Stardock as well as the modders that made this happen.
I know that Paradox (hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, etc) has the same spirit... To be honest, I also don't know if there are more like them on this planet... at least, with a rather large fan base. So few that it is good to pinpoint them, and give them a thumb up.
Like many here, my "My Downloads" page gives the version: GalCiv2_Ultimate_setup_2.04.017.exe And NO, I do NOT want to register my GalCiv2 on Steam for getting updates. No way . So then I have to wait for Stardock to produce a Stardock file for version 2.20 ...
A question... OK, we will have a star .. BUT, are we sure we will have habitable planets around? It would be nice if, on Founder's stars, there is a guaranty that at least 1 planet can be colonized...
Is there a global official thread in which we can drop and add our feed backs without having to open a different thread for each and every tester? I drop here my own feedbacks, sorry, with also my garbage improvised English... oops... It is not intended for discussion (hence opening a thread is a bit too much...), as what I do not like is only my opinion, and I understand than 99.99% of other players think differently. I just put quickly my 1st raw feelings, and especially wha
According to AMD, a newer driver has been available since April. Previously reported problems with menu text seem to have been from backlevel GPU drivers, so you may want to give this newer driver a try.
... I was also wondering how likely it will be that I'll actually get to see my star (name still TBD) in a game. I guess that depends on how many founder-named stars are allowed in each size galaxy and how many elite founders there end up being. Seems like I might have to play a lot of games to find my star. Even then I supposed it might not have a habitable planet for me to fight over. That all may be for the best though because I'
I would like also to add on DARCA1213's post: In the next Alpha 4, can you add clearer support for bug report? - dedicated forum/sub-forum for alpha testers (like on paradoxplaza) - provide a clear reporting templates, or even reporting interface/data bank, so you can better collect and track user reports - support in forum for adding your DXDiag 832 or 64b on your profile, so devs can see on which environment we report. I just bought the Founder edition yesterday (patch 0.3, or 0.31? I cannot read..), but unfortunately, I can not play it as I can not read menus/texts: display is fuzzy. Strange display: can not read the warning text at launch. http://www.casimages.com/i/140716032754480842.jpg idem for main menu, right tabs: http://www.casima
idem on my side with debug.err, but I guess the Alpha software has many missing features, not yet approved / designed / finalized / ... Besides, even if already integrated in the current alpha, it can also be changing every hour as the devs obviously work on all parts of the game, hence I am confident that missing files will be included soon, if not done already...
I just received and answered a survey fron Stardock ( Unfortunately, answers will be biaised and unreliable as some questions are not associated with an answer that fits all cases. You force to do a choice that is wrong. Exemples. question 7. Where do you learn about new products, games, etc? I answered "my nephews" in the little box under " Others". (I trust my young nephews for keeping up with the news!) T
Thanks for this thread. After updating to 2.04, and re-installing from a fresh copy, I got the "black screen" error. At first, I could not believed that this problem, several years old, was not solved yet (installation process should carefully check the current settings and adapt accordingly the resolution). Upon visiting this rather old thread, it simply worked after manually editing the ini file...

You do not recall the generals that won battles for Julius Caesar. You recall Julius Caesar. I am bitterly disappointed by Civilization 5, and the obvious and official name associated to it is: Jon Shafer. It is then perfectly logical that some like me are very unsure about Mr Shafer being hired as an asset for Stardock. The problem is that bad feelings from a game are difficult to reverse. Feelings are not logical, they are feelings. It is often an epidermic issue. Games
WhiteElk , you have a point. 1 person for collecting / summarizing ideas, and informal posts from any others... Talking about tec trees... Whatever is the choice (3 or 5 or any number of trees), I would not like to see it like Civ 5 : a mandatory path, and you can easily do it all. What I like in FFH mod for Civ 4, and in GalCiv2, was that the tec trees could not be really fully discovered: you had to choose a path, a style. Larger is t
"just one more turn"... Ah!...a Civilization disease! ... that I got long ago, and lost with Civ V. Elemental is now my best bet for filling the gap, and extending the pleasure I still have playing Civ 4 + FFH... I cannot say yet if it has this 1-more-turn feeling as I am way too busy at work for playing it right now !!! (oooops...) Talking about FFH, I wonder 2 things: 1- 2 designers are supposed to join Elemental team in January. Whoever they are, I am s
If you like Civilization, so then you should know that Kael, the creator of the most successful mod for civ (Fall From Heaven) has just been hired by Stardock as project manager on Elemental. Many FFH players expect a lot from Kael... It is also expected that the next patch (1.1) will address many known problems, including the AI. Actually, it seems that the real game will start at version 1.1 as it should be more than a simple patch, but a revision of some mecanics.
