Taslios, you can take the base citizen and specialize them into scientists, clerics, soldiers, traders, or farmers. Example, you want to send a trade route to the Krynn. You need to A) build the trade-ship and send it out to a Krynn world or colony, and B) change one of your citizens into a trader to get the trade license which allows the trade. Right now you can't move citizens around (to a different planet) easily. You would need to use a colony ship to mov

What was the development reason for not using DX12 or Vulcan and staying with DX11? How will AI choices in game be made? In Gal Civ III AI was 'data' driven. I am in the minority but I loved Brads ai scripts in Gal Civ II. Will Brad have a direct hand in how the AI behaves?

I am pretty sure Stardock nows how I feel about this. If I cant be a real employee at least I am dedicated, die hard fan who will shout across multiple media platforms how awesome their games are. Oh and I am looking forward to seeing it all. I am excited for Paul, I am excited for Cari (CARI!!!), I am excited for Derek, and of course I am super-excited that Brad's hand is on the tiller so to speak. Greetings Stardock, I see in the faq that GCIV will be DX 11 or higher. Which is more optimal DX11 or DX12? I ask because while Civ VI can be either it runs better on 11. I had thought that DX12 was new and can off load workloads from the CPU or more enabled multi gpu's from different cards, (assuming you had a two or three video card setup). I may be WAY off on my understanding which is why I am posting/asking this. <

Greetings. I think the main list from GCIII has multiple pages of us discussing this subject. Ok I love designing ships. I love seeing my ships in battle even more. Some of my best games are from Gal Civ II and the responses some of the Ai would reply or tell me. Please keep the snarkiness. Please go to dinner and have several margaritas (or whatever you need for snarkiness inspiration) and keep it in game. Ive shot

I disliked having to micro manage late game colonies. I never used the governors or divided up my winnings as affiliate allies. Its ONE empire, ya'll pay fealty to Larsenex and taxes! In return ya'll get 'protection and lucrative planetary building projects. I like the idea our 'management' of planets has been trimmed down. I just dont want to lose the sense of managing a large and growing empire. > you Yes you Admiral, you are going to Planet dogtownXY33 and need to be gover

Brad, I have followed Stardock for years and will continue to do so for many more. I am eager to assist as an outside player/tester and to give as much productive feedback as possible. Put me on the list of folks who want a life time price point package and lets get going!

Gal Civ is a strategic Turn based game. Xcom & Xcom2 are tactical turn based games. Why cant we have both? Big map, Civ 6 like galactic empire building. Got a fleet battle? Go to the Xcom viewer and position your ships according to Xcom like rules and ships have specific roles and flavor. Battle it out. Positioning and tech/equipment can make the difference. Granted Xcom is more narrow in what you can bring to the table.

Seilore, I agree. I'd like to see starbases placed in or near a planet give protection to the entire solar system with multiple bases giving protections multiplicative for that region. Want to fortify your solar system? Build several bases in it. They should be projections of power or influence and I always felt they were far far underused in GCIII. It would be nice if you could string bases X distance apart and in a 'borders' screen you can draw your empires ownership with th

That is a good list Divinewrath. I agree with most of it. On the point of Beams. I just removed the resource cost and made the cost for all three types of weapons equal which helps the interceptors. Id like to see carriers removed in GCIV.

Brad, Thank you for a great update on where things are moving! I have played all incarnations of Gal Civ III and the current is the most enjoyable but I do agree its a slog late game. Love Citizens > keep moving towards this concept as you stated. Combat > the old viewer is a tad dated. Id prefer to have more hands on but in the same vein to have the option to have it 'auto' resolved' as late game again can be tough managing dozens of space ba

[quote who="Seilore" reply="110" id="3795834"] I would like the tech tree to scale better with map/# planets. For those that like the slow game. Sure you can mod it but it's just not the same. On large galaxies the best techs you can research in a turn. This means why build a huge fleet until you get to top of the tech tree. This also ends up making military starbases obsolite. Oh wow you get +10 laser bonus, My fleet is 2000 laser. Make military

Thanks for the post. Gal Civ III has and will continue to be my go-to 4x game. I loved it's changes over the years. I think Paul's blogs during development in Alpha were wonderful! I am sure we would love to hear your thoughts during the process (alpha & beta) for Gal Civ IV. I am not the only one who was hanging onto Paul's words about what was going on and his challenges with certain game features. I earnestly look forward to Gal C

Tasilios has some good points. > [quote who="Taslios" reply="105" id="3795787"] The biggest thing I want in IV is a bit more flavor to the tech tree. no technology is developed in isolation. Incandescent bulbs did not lead directly to Fluorescent did not lead to LED etc... There should be spurs or offshoots from weapons that lead to civilian items, or vice versa. There should be random discov

Derek and team, I found the folders > CoreWeapons & CoreArmour. Do these two folders list all the weapons? I am wanted to look at a spreadsheet that lists every 174 weapons possible in the game. Is that in the 'Coreweapons' folder? Larsenex

Falconeer, how many gigs of ram does your video card have? I have a similar setup and play only on insane maps with 30 civs. My turn times on turn 453 are about 15-18 seconds as it cycles through each civ. I also have 32 gig ram but the most important thing I found is that your card has to have at least 6 gigs of ram on it or you will drag. EDIT> I see your card has 8gig of ram which should be fine for large maps. My next thought is amd vrs intel and I t

Greetings Gal Civer's, I was restarting a new game of Civ 6 and 2k just announced the Byzantium empire DLC. I like the Civ series. The mechanics are good and graphics and combat are engaging. However, I just did not want to rebuild a new game so I fired up a new game within Gal Civ III. As usual I play my malevolent Vulcans from Mirror Mirror (goatee Spock for the win!). There is just something about Gal Civ and its features that keep me hitting the

Both are good. I tend to only drink water now after all these years of no alcohol. I am a picky 'water drinker'. So Gal Civ IV. Horemvore, what are we going to build it with? Hexes, squares or dodecahedrons? I want another 4x game like Fallen Enchantress but no memory wall, FE is a great game btw. To Starlane or no? I remember the ai was going to be 'data driven' but forget how Paul had described how it was supposed to work.

I live on the West coast. From Ventura you can drive south along the coast for 260 miles and never once leave the city. You will progress all the way from one metroplex to the next until you hit the border at San Diego. While this coast is some of the most beautiful in the world. CA has a horrible nanny socialist state mentality. Gas here is about 3.88 a gallon. Its one of the highest in the US. I am curious what is gas per litre there? I envy you Jafo. I hav

Ah this thread again. R- Team, as the vets here have stated the game has always had 'no borders'. It's the way the game was made that you can go anywhere on the map. Same with the ai. Can Stardock code it so that the ai cannot enter your borders? I think so, but that also means you would too would hit this invisible wall that you cannot move through. I think the way it is designed is fine and factually more accurate for a space based 4x game . <
