I have been on Mac too long.... I know that I had no issue fixing this, and it required no registry tweaks or anything of the sort. My memory tells me that it's easily turned off in settings. I know this doesn't help.

When you replace a file in your working folder (theme folder) you confirm the save, and then you need to reload the theme to see results. File names MUST be exact.

My memory is foggy, but I will try to get to my main rig today and skin a little so I can remember then answer your question. Not only have I not skinned in a while, but I also suffer from what my doctor says is brain fog due to long covid. Or ADHD, pick one....lol....same treatment.
