No Don't change the tech trees around. I would recommend reducing the cost to build the advent fighter bays to provide a better counter to early tactics. you can still spam enough illums to defend yourself, its the skirantra/sova support that does you in early. Perhaps a slight buff in illuminator focus firing would make the tech and expense of the unit more worthwhile. I also agree with mindseye that fighters need a buff vs. flak.

Well I'm apart of the conversation as well and if you read the posts I am not discussing the illuminator bug. Mostly I talk about TEC, but since the subject got changed to advent vs. vasari i'm game to discuss that as well. The illuminator bug is gone, and the multitude of problems with the advent that it hid are now having to be dealt with. Advent at the core suffer from lack of economic options in the early game, it truly doesn't matter what unit does more dps in the e
The only significant changes in 1.19 were the scout nerf, the illuminator bug fix, the skirmisher/enforcer damage buff, and scramble bombers. The scout nerf isn't going to impact the mid-late game, and the skirmisher and enforcer are not major units in the Advent vs Vasari matchup. I do not think scramble bombers on its own would fundamentally change the Advent vs Vasari late-game, which was actually only slightly Vasari advantage until Kosturas came out.[/quo
If TEC are three jumps away, get a starbase operation on your homeworld. Advent is very much in the same position as 1.181 Vasari; at close range, you have no hope of winning a frigate battle.
it is possible to get a starbase up and running if you have sovas sucking your credits away, though you are fighting a losing battle that will inevitably result in needing lots of feed, running, or needing support. Since the TEC are getting all the income they are sucking
Quoting sareth01, reply 14TEC should be able to feed a new faction with their credits after they research "insurgency". I'm following you so far. But the implementing this properly would be a bit of a challenge. I think the best option would be a new tab on the Black Market UI with the same options that we have for Pirates. They are already a named faction I believe. The TEC would send credits to an enemy planet N

TEC should be able to feed a new faction with their credits after they research "insurgency". This would be the "freedom fighters". The TEC would send credits to an enemy planet that is below 50% allegiance (new ability) and would foster an insurgency there. The simplicity and addition to strategy would become a mean new ability, and quite worth it imo. How can an empire defend itself if it is being eaten from within? This would also 'feel' like it was su

Holy Moly! I have never heard a clear, endearing conversation online with star player ever. Aside from all the cussing and anger brought about by SOME emotional issue, I am glad to see a person arise from behind such a wall of defense. Bravo! (btw, its Carpetbomb ;) ) Good on you for totally blowing my mind! Anyways I fully support your post, this game truly needs some really good loving come sins 2. The developers also shouldn't mak

If you read the initial post you will see that it says you have to PAY to upgrade your factories. No such thing as FREE tech. This would be more expensive as reverse engineering/creating from blueprints takes a bit of investment. The counter to a spy would be having a scout upgraded to see past the camouflage that is on auto attack. The scout would defeat the sheildless, weaponless low HP spy. The spying WOULD be used later in the game because it would be

yeah the concept is the point of the post :) The balance as to WHAT abilities could be stolen would naturally have to be tested and make sense. Being able to slow down production via culture is passive(or a very slow slow slow version of active play). Culture is also very easily countered, so its effects a lot of the time don't hinder the enemy to the degree that it should. This would be ACTIVE play. This would take the player's attention to implement. This w

So, there are a great many unique tech's out there. Some could be stolen by some crafty spies. Having a cloaked spy ship that a scout can see when it gets upgraded with unique sensors would be interesting Think of a cloaked ship as a scout with no shields and no weapons that moves slowly to maintain its cloak. This spy ship can infiltrate a lab structure and steal a tech from the lab that the opposing player has already researched. A spy could also temporaril

Flak turrets. These would have a high damage anti fighter/moderate anti bomber attack. These would be specifically armored against bombers. Cheap defenses that actually defend against all those inevitable bomber squadrons that come in. These would not be accessible to the Vasari, as the Vasari already have a very good antifighter defense building, as well as a moving starbase of death that is only safely killed by bombers.

I for one would love a new expansion. Mainly because as a long times sins player, we were promised 3 expansions, and Ironclad could keep their word. Sins 2 i think will happen, sins 1 had great sales, and the company turned a profit. A repeat would understandably bring in some more profit! I know i will buy it, and hopefully beta test it.

Itchy and I (Carpetbomb) tried this map out. Initially it was a multistar, we recommended cykur to make another map that was a single star only. The premise of the encounter kicks ass, you start with nothing and have to make the best out of a bad situation. VERY nice, and a very good way to have a 5v5 or a 10 person FFA. Yes, i said it, 10 person FFA! Keep up the good work Cykur!

i used to steal internet from my neighbors a few years back when i moved in with my girlfriend (she had no internet!). It was a nightmare on sins, and thankfully people didn't get too upset. random lag spikes and interference was a real pain in the ass. all in all, a hard connection was vastly superior. if you are playing inside you won't have nearly as much difficulty as i had, but still the random lag spikes will occur.
"so tell me again why a faction can build carrier capitals and not carriers?"
This is definitely not realistic, but have you thought of the counter argument? How fun would sins early game be for ALL races if you didn't have the fleet capability of a capital ship early on? Without early capital ships early fleets would be even more one dimensional then they already are. Capital ships provide the skill variable in the early game.

Must have fixes: stationary turning, its space! Perhaps a penalty to turn speed while not having any forward momentum to provide an opportunity for a foe. An effective advent healing unit, at tech level 6 it better have some USE! Rebalancing advent's early game. Additions: 1. Adding a new research tab for Capital Ships. Three sub trees would be something along the lines of Ability upgrades, offensive upgrades, and defensive upgrades.
