I hit the slavers issue in patch .76 (for the one day I was able to play it, silly Stardock giving me all of one day to try the game before they change the rules :P) I got hit by Varda in both .76 and .77 (Two separate games, obviously)

Well, my guess would be, whatever equipment and traits you're giving these units is what makes them so expensive. Are you loading them up with lots of gear and cool traits? If so, I'm 99 % sure they will take longer to build and be more expensive. I've only made one custom unit myself, haven't had much need for them yet.

I KNOW that when I was reading one of Brads play-throughs about 2, 3 weeks ago, when he saw this happen, he made a comment about how "it kind of defeats the purpose if the monsters will just kill them" (I'm "quoting" his intent there, I don't think those are his exact words). Was this changed? Is it cool for monsters to just walk up and kill a champion?

Honestly, I still disagree with a perfectly even distribution of XP, for 2 reasons. The first is for game balance, as I mentioned a few days ago a few posts up. The second is a bit weirder, but it basically comes down to this; People learn best from their own experiences, but they also from watching and observing. Being present at a fight with a few of your buddies, you can pick up and improve from what you see them doing, as well as from what happens

I will agree that the people trying to balance the game should NOT give ANY thought to the fact that people can save and reload if they get a result they don't like. It's something inherent in the nature of the game, if the game designers start worrying about it, they are worrying about the wrong thing. (now, if they make code that makes random events/quests/etc spawn in advance, so you can't dodge them by reloading to the turn before them, that's different,

Am I the only one who doesn't associate "Attack" with "to hit"? Attack has always been associated with damage in my mind. The closest thing I can think of for attacking meaning to hit, is D&D, but even there it's called "Attack Bonus", not just Attack. Maybe I'm just playing different games?

I already thought the AI DID this kind of stuff, I remember hearing something I think Brad posted, somewhere, saying "The AI is much better at estimating it's odds of success than a human". If it's not doing what you described, it definitely should be. Though this does sound like it could get resource intensive by mid game, when there are lots of armies with various enemies to fight. Also, I am an idiot for assuming anything, silly me. <p

What you call fun, some people call frustrating. It seems kinda silly to me that, because my town was building a watermill, NOBODY in that town was practicing how to fight with a spear and wear armor and move as part of a formation? EVERY single person in that town that wasn't "off gathering grain and materials" was either building that watermill or sitting on their butts? In a land where monsters roam up out of the woods and attack and destroy towns?

Hey, the good thing about the game being in beta right now guys: they are more focused than ever on trying to get it right, at this moment. So this is the time to report those crashes and hope that whatever the weird issue that makes the game run poorly on your computer is, they can fix it. Also, not to state the (kinda sorta obvious if you know your computer stuff, but not obvious to those who don't) "obvious", but always make sure your drivers are up to date on v

While i love the idea of shared XP, the danger with splitting it perfectly evenly becomes this: "Player A, through luck and skill, has managed to take 2 heroes and level them very high quite quickly. Player B, being more cautious, and not being nearly as luck as player A (no fault of his own) has 4 heroes that have been traveling together, and that have gotten a few level ups. Player A and player B have their heroes meet, an

Hmm, good arguments on both sides. The whole "realism" says; why not have some people building buildings, while others produce troops, all in the same town, but some people feel "game play" is better when you're forced to make hard decisions between one or the other. I can think of a compromise or two; A) Make it an option at the start of the game (one building queue or two). This is by far the hardest I would think, because the AI would be

Did you pre-order it through Stardock, or from some other store? if it's from any other source, you're going to have to wait a bit, sorry. They don't really make that clear very often, which was a BIG source of frustration for me when I didn't see it available for download, and trust me, I check. If you pre-ordered it through Stardock themselves and your not getting it, something's wrong.

Hey, just wanted to see if anyone was making a list of things that MIGHT be bugs, or might be working as intended. Watching the live play of spleendamage, i noticed that creatures with the Maul ability keep attacking, over and over and over, until they are dodged... is that intentional?

My intuition would be to click on the champion you have cast the spell on, and see if there is some sort of option on him/her that would let you remove the spell. For example, if you can see an icon of the spell somewhere, try clicking on it, or seeing if there is a small X near it or the like. Trying to remember from the original WOM, but it's been a few months since I booted it up. Hope that does it, sorry I don't have the beta myself to poke around and ans

Not to be mean, but that quote there is miss-leading. It really, really, really should say: January 19 will be to everyone who pre-ordered WOM THROUGH US. It's because of that ambiguity that I found myself super disappointed today. I figured you guys somehow would know, maybe through different registration keys, whatever, but obviously not. It is understandable that you guys have no way of knowing who pre-ordered through a retail

Definitely like the sound of solidsmooky's idea's about bandits..... It's no fun to work really hard to clear an area, only to have it then be boring for the remaining 500 turns because you killed everything there. If that area doesn't get settled/civilized by something, then after a while, I hope some sort of monsters of bandits would re-inhabit it. (Obviously not within a few turns of clearing the area, but 50 turns later, 100?) No idea if they have a syste

Damn, voice of Stardock slipped in while I was writing my response and told me to hold my horses.... crap. Might as well take care of as many things as possible the next few days, so when I get the email, I can play the heck out of the game. This really makes me wish for better relations between retail stores and the companies that make the games they push, but I realize that isn't likely to happen for lots of complicated reasons... but it still isn't fun being on the rece

Your good nature is appreciated, comrade. I would be much less upset by this if Stardock had made it more clear that they only meant pre-orders from their website. Your comment about logistics and the like does make complete sense.... but it's still really frustrating. I'm sure I will be in within the next week or so, seeing as I was playing within the first day or two, but I've got free time now! Thanks again for being a voice of reason. Maybe i

Well, they REALLY should have made that much more clear at some point. I'm so angry right now it's not even funny, especially considering I have the special edition of the game (though it's funny that their website shows no record of that, it says I have the Std. Ed. Box, probably because they didn't actually add any different software to the special edition, so I bet the code was the same, but still). I seriously feel like I'm getting screwed over for paying M

Hello all, I am trying to find out when Stardock THINKS I ordered this game, because I KNOW I pre-ordered it through a retailer (Gamestop), but I have gotten no email, and no FE beta in the "my downloads" section. My attempts to call customer support were met with answering machines, even though it was before the end of their usual hours of operation, and if anything, on a day like today, they should be putting in extra hours. (Yes, I know they already have been, and yes I appreciate th
