the ms attitude is a symptom of large business. many people now feel intimidated when they walk into stores, like a car dealership for example. why? their livlihood depends on -us- and they need to re-learn the process of actually taking care of customers.

depends on the skin.. windowblinds skins go in their own folder inside the windowblinds folder: c:\program files\object desktop\windowblinds
dave's right.. you can also have more than one.. right click your task bar, choose toolbars, then new toolbar.. then drag it off onto the screen, and off to one side if you choose.
hahaha.. wow, i got a kick out of seeing things in mosaic again.. neato
wow mercury, you need a raid or something
iirc, you can set w2k to 24bit. if so, give that a try.
if you ever get a submission rejected, you'll receive an email letting you know. for things like dx themes it takes longer than wallpapers, since we try to run them for a bit to make sure they function ok. and yeah, as elvee says, there isn't as much moderation activity on the weekends. don't worry
my internal is only 10 but my external firewire is 80. i'd like to have another 80. i don't have enough space to do it, but i would prefer to rip my entire cd collection to disk. that way if i want to hear some specific song i just type it in the box and there it is... or if i want to hear everything by one artist.. or make mix tapes for the car.. or listen to every song i have with the word 'black' in it.. you get the idea. another 80 would probably do it just fine
hmm.. the only way i think it might be appropriate is 2 categories: technical questions everything else that might work ok.. but both would need to be accessible from the front page
it's been a while since i did a dx object.. if you're accessing different functions of the same plugin, i don't know what's up.. if not, you need to get more plugins for whatever type of thing you're trying to do.. i'm sure someone else could help you more than i.. :/
are you selecting a different plugin separately for each one?
i find i return to the default xp looks occasionally, whereas i -never- returned to the stock win98/2k look. it's kind of like my osx machine.. i just used the stock aqua for a long time, but now i'm using various different skins.
oh, and as far as the wedding goes, don't go overboard. just think family, good friends, a little food and a good time. tell everybody how you feel about them, and have fun. it will be hard, because you'll be totally exhausted by the time of the actual wedding, but try to have fun.
congratulations!! don't sweat the small stuff
mine is a gaming name from .. hmm.. 92? not computer gaming, either the first time i used it online was in 94 when i went back to college and discovered the wonder that was ... ISCA.. hehe. the grand bulletin board/chat thing from the iowa student computer association. biggest of its time. just straight telnet.. no fancy stuff. it's now me on everything from aol to excite, yahoo, wherever.<b
crae.. just so you know, the guy who played quark is the guy who was the principal at buffy's high school on buffy the vampire slayer. chilling, isn't it?
ok feline.. just a taste i rented a small moving truck on 3 separate occasions. the first time, they made an 'exception' and let me have it late in the day even though it was supposed to go out early the next morning. when we tried to unload it the next morning in time to get it checked back in, our new garage door refused to open, even with the little emergency pull cord. workmen eventually arrived and finally, after sliding things under a 2 foot gap for 45 minutes, had to remove t
hi well, my move is complete and at least one of the computers is finally back online. sorry for the long absence. i would regale you with a compelling tale of moving and wild occurances, but they would be nearly unbelievable, and will be included in our book.
i agree many things are overpriced. remember though that when discussing x86 and motorola chips you can't just draw a simple mhz speed to price ratio. the speed of a 400mhz g4 has no relation to the speed of a 400mhz x86, for example.
agreed david. i'm definitely curious/concerned about what brought on the decision. unfortunately though, it's apparently not a pressing enough issue to spend time delving into. as far as some of the other comments in the thread about the system's use, i think it's important to realize that it's perfectly legitimate for one of your peers to think your work deserves a low rating. we've been through the ratings discussion many times, and every time it basically distills down to one thing.
maybe there's people there? the falklands didn't have much in the way of natural resources either
as far as the signatures go, i was basically referring to the obtrusive ones, where it commands attention rather than serving as signing your work see jafo above. as far as resolution, shrinking is still better than stretching and i didn't intend this as me giving out my personal opinions.. it's just
sigh.. if you don't think the ratings reflect your opinion, then give it a rating.. the more ratings, the better it will reflect the holistic mind-set of the community.. if you know what i mean sorry to see you go.. feel free to take the comments personally.. not the ratings :/
it's interesting. i can't help but be reminded of the hours i spent on simcity 2000, and the self-contained arcologies. it's the first thing i thought of when i saw some of the new designs, and i think it's a fine goal. manhattan really wouldn't be helped ecologically by trying to create greenspace in the area, and i'm sure any building constructed there will incorporate a heartfelt and prominent memorial. but what's the best memorial? trying to make something shorter? not bui
hi as a moderator, i really enjoy seeing the vast variety of ideas running around out there. only a fraction get on the site, but it's neat to see what people are thinking. i thought i might give out a couple quick tips 1:: text in a desktop pic is almost always a bad idea. this is especially tru
