I've won 32 of my 35 games since the reset. I might not be the best but I consider myself pretty decent. I'm about 200 ranks below you, but you play with a premade team so drawing too strong conclusions from that might not be a good idea. What I can't control is the random partners that I get and since good PUGgers avoid premades those random partners tend to be complete noobs when going against a premade. Playing a Sedna hel
Overall this community is not competitive when compared to other games.
It's not competitive at all, but for some reason the people who don't play the game with their friends (randoms) come on here and bitch about losing to people who play with friends (premades). The average skill level of the randoms just needs to go up a bit and we'll see far less of these kinds of (pointless) threads becuase they won't lose so horribly.

boo-hoo, there's no team automatch
Rumors of Sedna's late-game demise are greatly exaggerated.
Yep.
I dunno, it's only a 210 HP difference, 1120 vs. 1330 and if you get any +HP from items or magnificent presence the difference is going to be diminished. I can't imagine getting rank 4 over rank 3.
Fair point, but maybe making level 3 and level 4 be different choices would make it less of a no brainer to just buy i
Demigod has flag capping and warscore mechanics which DotA doesn't. Each toon has a larger number of skills available than DotA. This makes the game different enough that people will like one and dislike the other. If it's not your thing, go play DotA, I hear it's great this time of year. As for them being the only two games in the genre, this is false as well, since there was the Starcraft mod Aeon Strife for starters. There's also a microstransaction game called Masters of Belial wh
2. Sedna Healing Wind + Level 3 idol Priests/High Priests
Actually I find this to be one of the few interesting item choices for Sedna. Late in the game High Priests don't have enough health to survive AoE attacks whereas I think Bishops do. Trading vulnerability for increased healing capacity is a legitimate choice that won't be correct in every situation so the severity of the bug is diminished.
Living East Coast and joining West Coast games won't give you a 500 ping connection, something was broken either on your end or on theirs. Were you proxied?
Yes please

It's a bit boring and indicates, that the main focus on this game is not-to-die as opposed to reach certain other objectives. I don't think wielding the nerf hammer on hp-items is the solution, though. I think, the solution is: The FREE MARKET.
I agree there's no need to nerf HP items, I think it s
Add in an item that lets a UB snare or silence a player and you'll just see UBs who get a few early kills dominating for the rest of the game.
They do anyway, since the gold advantage currently means they'll have a thousand or so more HP and more armor/mana because of nimoths/unbreakable boots. Activatables aren't going to change the slippery slope of the game.
Currently once a player loads up on gear the only real use for gold
Coordinated teams are exactly what is able to blow through health stacking already. I think this would just turn 3s and up into a gib fest. I don't see how being on the receiving end of this would ever be remotely enjoyable.
HP stacking is currently the dominant strategy because the offensive tools are too week. Playing more carefully but having a higher damage output should be a possible tactic, but becau
Do you agree with those ballpark numbers, and if so would it actually make those items more fun? Also bear in mind that an activated item would swap item slots and be made into a trinket, so the issue with few gauntlets being used would be further exacerbated. Yep your numbers are about right I think, I don't know for sure if it would be more fun, since that's a kinda arbitrary measurement, but I think I'd enjoy a bit more stuff to do in combat short of rmb everywhere
Personally I think the artifact shop items are extremely versatile and well made, did they precede or follow the creation of the regular item shop items?
Good point, I really wish more of the standard items were like the artifacts. If there was a set of gloves that was a very toned down version of the bracelet of rage, or a set of armor that could function like the bulwark for 5 seconds etc. I think item shoice woul
Teams trying to game the automatcher aren't going to be dissuaded by changing the automatcher, they'll be dissuaded by added arranged team automatch imo. I like the mockup :)
The golden rule of sequels is to improve on the original. DoW2 does something strange and strips out stuff that the original had which is simply detremental to the game (for example stances). Demigod at least feels finished if a little threadbare. While DoW2 just felt like it was a CoH mod.
They're on the same engine so that's not terribly surprising, games from the same company in the same genre are always going to ha
Install impulse, click the orb, there should be a detect application button. I formatted an XP partition and got it to run under a win 7 install without having to redownload, but it did take a few attempts and some fiddling.
Yeah, I mean, Journeyman's treads are just too inconsistent right?.... right? Honestly, sometimes I think 'competitive' players just want a game to be a yardstick for their e-peen. Looks great, thanks for the update.
Well that's what we want to talk about. Huge updates. As in the 2 additional Demigods. Replays. Modding. What can we expect? Impulse's big update and how it affects Demigod. Can we realistically expect any new maps?
Is the friends list going to be imporoved in the near future? Is team automatching expected any time this year?
Warhammer is also completely broken in terms of balance.
1.4.2 seems to have alleviated a lot of those problems. The level of interest Relic are showing is promising as well. I don't know that really makes Demigod any better than it even if we accept the DoW2 balance to be out of whack. DG is considered balanced by most people because there isn't much competitive play going on so the meta game hasn't evolved at all. I har
It's entirely feasible from a general point of view (we've done them before for GC2, Sins, etc, where the main channel gets muted and moderators gather questions from a second channel), but whether one would be productive with Demigod at this point is hard to say, given the tone a lot of people tend to be taking of late.
You could PM the sensible people, there's probably about 20 or so that would take you up on it I'd imagine.
You need to take a screenshot of this happening, calling someone out without proof isn't cool. But yes griefing is very annoying, personal ignore lists would help I think.
This is from "scooter" from the DoW2 forums, but I feel it's relevant:
As someone who has studied matching theory, designing a sensible algorithm is more complex than you might think, and TS is as good as any. The old engineering "Pick Two" paradigm fits well here. You can have any two of: a.) fast matchmaking (ie finding an opponent quickly without waiting for several minutes to get a game) b.) matching that doesn't require vast numbers
