Quoting Annatar11, reply 1Generally speaking, all the DD platforms get their own set of keys, and retail keys (unless the game uses Steamworks or Goo) and especially for old games, aren't recognized by the DD clients. So, basically, you can't convince Steam that you have the game because you can't get it to recognize the key. On top of that, Steam uses its own directories for games, sometimes has separate Steam-only patches, and

The CD does not have an option to run with DOS, making the DOS Box useless, and the Windows version categorically does not work. At least it only cost about $5 or so.
Digital distribution is the future, sorry.

Its DOTA. It has a negative connotation to all but those that play it. Its nearly impossible to bring in tons of new sales from people who have not played it.

Again, our definitions are just different Annatar =P I don't consider the DOTA genre saturated because there are only 2 games. There were dozens and dozens of WWII games releases, regardless of which of those were relevant or not. LoL and HoN are shameless rip offs of DOTA. At least Demigod was different. There's a lot of room here for innovation. DOTA 2 probably won't be that though.
Quoting Polynomial, reply 5The genre isn't saturated! Modern shooters are an example of saturated. 2 games is not saturated. (Demigod didn't count) It is when you consider that both of these games are very recent. Even though there are lots of modern shooter games, only 3 are now the "primary" ones - Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company 2, and the new Medal of Honor. Before MoH, there were also two, and MoH is being highly compared to b

I'm not sure what this is. I need to see the PC version. I wasn't very impressed with Dragon Age 1 from a Bioware fan's perspective. Mass Effect was just leagues ahead of the game.

I know if you lost coders- another person I know who is similar personalitywise to you is trying to make a PC/Mac fighting game and is looking for coders (He has done a couple projects for XBLA for Capcom), so I'm trying to direct over to him, I think he has some budget- it might

They may not be grand-scale epic strategy, but games like Plants vs. Zombies and Bejeweled are fun and don't cost nearly as much to make. They can supplement Stardock's revenue and help you guys get that second games team back one day.
Might be a good idea. Stardock has never showed us a real high end graphical capability like Demigod or Sins or Sup Com etc. iP

This is scary. I feel really bad about this. But at the same time I still don't know what to do with Elemental. I've tried really hard to get into it. This makes me sad. Is the games studio on a separate budget then?
The point was to reassure people that we're sticking with the game and not moving on immediately. It's not a subscription and I'm sure we'll be doing elemental-related stuff for well more than a year. It could have been worded better though, certainly.
Society is going to be subscription >.>
