Sysmetrix is no longer maintained.. hasn't been for several years. I found it very useful on Windows XP but it doesn't work reliably on Vista (Net meter and loading new skins). I wonder if Stardock or a group of our great skinners might take it over and keep it going? Hate to see a great program wither away.

I have new laptop w/ Vista Home Premium, 64-bit. Here are my problems: RightClick loads but won't show Cannot apply any downloaded Suites except Colors type (don't know how to add themes to Vista) Icon package4 apply is very spotty (varying percent of possible icons actually apply). I understand your frustration but I don't think it's the site that's the problem. I had some problems w/IE7 freezes. After much research, I ran Windows utility sfc.exe /scannow which checks the validity and intregrity of Explorer system files and replaces those that are corrupted or missing. You need your System Resource CD mounted to run this. It cleared up the problem immediately. Good luck

Tried IE8 beta and same problem I have had w/IE7.. too easily corrupted. Opera is OK but bookmarks manager is confusing. Chrome is too minimal. Orca too buggy. Firefox 3 still seems best overall.

Not often I find a truly helpful utility. Glint by SciTech Concept, is especially useful for developers to test the system footprint of their program. Several Widgets and Objects have addressed system activity but none (IMHO) have come up with the elegant solution of Glint. This is a free program. I mention it here because as good as it is it could use some Stardock dressup. I used it recently to measure system activity w/ Impulse vs without. Besides all that, it looks great on a desktop.

I have a laptop and a desktop. I find that I use the desktop less and less because the laptop is almost always within reach. 1440X900 is very important to me. Sadly many wallpapers and some skins are not made for laptops.

Before I just added FX to the downloaded zip file and all loaded nicely. Now XP opens the file but I can't get FX to store it in it's lib. What's the problem? I have FX Plus.

Thank you both and I used each of your suggestions to fix the problem: Deleted the affected widgets from widgetcache and ran them by doubleclicking the shortcuts. Works fine now and I will move shortcuts to a launchbar and forget about loading via DesktpX.

Two of my favorites (DuoCore History & Digital Clear Meters) load as colored squares.. red, green and yellow. I've tried loading other saved desktops which also include these widgets and have the same result. I think this is because I always put these two widgets in the same location. If I could get DesktopX to load them in a different location I think they would be fine but how do I force desktopX to do so?

Can someone tell me how to open downloaded sidebar gadgets? DesktopX is supposed to do so but darned if I can figure out how.
