I have seen Texan voters flip-flop randomly on the High Gas Prices issue. They all start out against it, but at some point, 2 out of 3 voter segments will be greatly in favor of it - either Democrat + Independent, or Republican + Independent - when this shift occurs, it usually occurs near the end of a campaign, and it also skyrockets the importance of the issue such that it's hard to get rid of, even if you have been pushing up other issues to avoid this anomaly.
