Seems like a suckers bet to buy any Valve game at day 1. Not because the game will be bad, I imagine it will be pretty fun, but because it will probably be on sale for 25-50% this summer and 75% off during Christmas. It's a single player game, so there's really no rush to own to day 1 IMO.
But it has some new multiplayer elements. And day 1 DLC. Looks like I won't be spending a dime on this af
I figured by buying the Gold edition, at least the core game would be patched and playable. And perhaps I could just avoid the expansion if it broke things too badly.
My 2 cents, I wouldn't bother. I forget where along the way Impulse was made necessary for install, but paying any sort of money for half a game is a waste. Pick up Sword of the Stars or something else instead. GC2 is a good game,
There are plenty of PC games that don't shove spikes up your... well, you know. Don't give up hope, just vote with your wallet and let the dev's know why you didn't buy their game. It's not dieing, but it's going through a major change. There will always be good games that are DRM free though, and many games get the DRM stripped from them as they mature (Which is when I finally purchase them.) DRM is a way of preventing se
The point of Impulse Anywhere is for offline installation of games that you own on Impulse. You can just get an activation key from any other computer and transfer it over. Thus defeating the OP's intents. Otherwise, worst DRM ever.</p
I am sorry to say that I will not be purchasing anymore Stardock games :~(
I have the disc versions of all 3, and need impulse to get them up to speed. Archived versions perform the exact same in my experience. I can install dread lords without needing Impulse, but can't patch or update it. And playing Dread Lords v1.00 isn't worth the install time. In any case, welcome to the war for gamer's rights. 8)

There was an ultimate edition I believe that had them all, but not patched. You'll still need Impulse, regardless if you get the boxed version of GCII or not. Even if they were patched up to date. You could archive the games and patches on a disk after installing them as mentioned above and save yourself from the redownloading fees from gamestop in the future though. 8)

My better half loves it as well, but I had a harder time getting into it. It's not that it's bad, it's quirky and pretty much exactly what I expected from my limited runs with the other Sims games. I don't like how almost everything is done off-screen (but I realize that that's how The Sims works), or that you couldn't design your own buildings, or that I had to reset everything after I had depleted my quest points and finished my Ambition. Worst of all, on the s
Sure enough, right there in the middle of the top row are some numbers that strongly support your claim: 56% of the Steam respondents are using DX10 (which also implies Win7/Vista). Go, go, DX10!
I don't think that is a good representation of the market. You're not getting the entirety of Steam Users in that survey, and less than half the people I know who frequently play PC games want anything to do with
There were some screencaps on other forums of people being banned (with actually very little wrong in their posts.) Other pics showedmoderator's warning players that their bans will affect their ability to play. I'd look for them, but I'm lazy. They've been reposted on /v/ often enough though. If you have everything installed already, then you're temporarily okay from the ban. But you can't ever reinstall the game. Or if you're the type that likes overpriced

The PC's almost have to be immune, as it becomes a 1 hit-game over scenario. I'm still looking forward to the game, and I hope it's at least half as emotionally wrenching as the trailer posted above.

Since I'm such a sucker for them, it's probably just the musical score, but the trailer instantly drew me in and made me have an emotional connection to the well animated characters. I'm hoping for a similar sad, graphic game, filled with hopelessness and fear. Having t
I'm a big Zombie nut, so I've been watching for Dead Island. I hadn't seen a thread about it here so I figured I'd see if anyone else had anything worthwhile to add about the game. Halo 3 and Halo Reach were both leaked months early. The actual games. Not betas. The 360 must be in its death throes if their blockbuster title is leaked, since the beta of an decent FPS on the PC leaked is a mighty deathblow! There are actually a lot of console games leaked early. PC gaming deterioration has much more to do with the attitude of the up and coming gamers, and the types of games they buy, regardless of their quality, than with any amount of piracy. Game

I thought Bethesda bought the entire Fallout IP, which is why they have a lawsuit with Interplay at the moment (Since they licensed them to make a MMO but everything has since fallen apart.) In any case, it doesn't really matter as whomever is in charge of the price points obviously is just banking on people not caring about wasting their money through Impulse.
