I would like to know more about the problem you are having so we can get it fixed. Change the resolution one more time and let the problem occur again. Close the game then go to "\My Documents\My Games\PolMachine2008\Debug.err". You can open the file with notepad. Please post the contents of that file here so we can try to figure out what is happening, and also get some stats about your computer. Assuming you've already done the above, I'll now answer your question... The optio

I saw a post here on the forums where someone has already bought a copy from Target. That was on June 20.
SeanGOP08, this post is about how you add characters in 2004. In 2008, there is a character creator in-game!
To open the ports for multiplayer, you need to go to Control Panel->Windows Firewall. FOR VISTA: There will then be a link to "allow a program through the firewall". If you click the link, then you can either add a program, or add a port. FOR XP: Go to the "exceptions" tab. In either case, you'll want to add ports, so click the "Add Port" button. Add UDP port 6000 and then UDP
I picked it up in Target
Nice!
Ennui, I'm not sure if you read the support sticky post, (or if this at all interests you), but you could get a newer graphics card pretty cheap. Here's one that will run the game for $24.99 Just a thought. I hate to see people missing out on the fun of PM2008. ~C
For those of you that have been asking about getting PM2008 from a retail store... Gamestop has The Political Machine 2008 listed on their website . I don't know if this means that they have it on their shelves yet, but most likely. Not surprisingly, (since they are merged) EBGames also has it on their website .&nbs
For any that are interested, MSN did a quick phone interview recently with Brad Wardell (Stardock CEO) and asked him questions about The Political Machine 2008. They play some video footage of the game while talking to him. Here's the link You have to sit through one of their commercials before the actual video starts, but oh well. ~C
I must wonder just what people were drinking
I was mainly drinking Mt. Dew, with an occasional trip to the water cooler. :HOT:
Where EXACTLY can I find this file?
the file is located at"My Documents\My Games\PolMachine2008\debug.err". It gets overritten every time you start a new game.
im not talking about the shelves, its not on their websites
Even so, they have to unpack the shipment from us in order to have a copy of the game to ship to you. You most likely won't see it available on their website until they have it on their shelves too. And even then, it's up to the store as to whether or not they want to sell it via their website. You can't always get everything a store sells from the store's website.
do you need sound to play tpm 08
You can turn it off if you want. You don't need the sound on in order to play the game. Everything you need to know can be read.
hey I checked walmart, best-buy, target and a few others
It's coming to those stores. I'd wager that it'll be on their shelves within a week or so. Maybe less. It's basically up to them as to when they unpack the boxes and put the game on the shelves.
I checked walmart, best-buy, target and a few others
It should be showing up on shelves at these places soon. We're thinking end of this week, or early next week. Basically, all we can say at this point is that you will be able to buy it in those stores, but it's up to them as to when they unpack the boxes and put them on the shelves.
What was the solution? (In case other people make the same mistake.)
I'm not getting a debug.err
Are you sure? It doesn't open the file for you when the game crashes. But everytime you run the game it will overwrite the file located here: 'My Documents\My Games\PolMachine2008\debug.err'
download the last version of “impulse”
If you run impulse, it will update itself to the latest version. You can then use Impulse to see if there are any updates for Political Machine 2008, or any of your other Stardock-related games and products.
It's entirely possible that if there's enough demand for more interviews then we could be swayed into putting more interviews into the game as an update. I know that "enough demand" is a relative term, but still. Keep in mind that if we were to add any interviews, we'd probably want to first do so for the maps that only have 1 (civil war, Europa, and Drengi - as Mittens points out).
i only see 4 people on
The game just became available digitally yesterday. And for people waiting to buy a retail copy, most stores don't have it on their shelves yet. But they will either later this week, or early next week. ~C
Now that "The Political Machine 2008" has arrived, how about people post some strategies. What party do you play as? Do you use a custom candidate or a stock one? If custom, what issues/attributes do you prefer to spend your points on. What is your game setup (ie. game length, difficulty, starting funds, etc..) What map are you playing on? These are just examples, talk about whatever you feel is important...
when I create my game and click ready, the program freezes (music continues without glitches, it just sits at the candidate selection screen). ...Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Did someone join your game? If not, it's just waiting for someone to, and is probably not frozen.
Why only the US
Political Machine 2008 allows you to play on 4 different maps: Modern USA, Civil War USA, Europa, and Drengi (from GalCiv2). And with modding, you could potentially make your own maps to play on, if you wanted. ~C
It shipped yesterday. From what I've heard around the office, it should be available at most of those stores sometime this week or next.
You can also bring up the Assets window by clicking on the "Assets" button - which is located right above your candidate's picture on the lower left corner of the screen. ~C
