I think what people are saying is they like the game speed. i.e. the current rate of build up, they just want the research to take longer so it A) Has more of an impact, and B) means we aren't done with research by the time we reach out of our first star system.
Einlanzerous
You get what you pay for though, the Blu Ray Player in it has been rated as lower quality than even the HD-DVD add-on to the 360.
Well whatever you get, don't get a PS3, they really do suck.
That's fine and all, but even in multiplayer I still search for artifacts. I think it's a good idea that's going a little to waste. If that's true that would explain how I beat my friends so often, even when they've the greater numbers. Artifacts can have a powerful impact on the game.
I was playing a game with a medium sized map (20-30 planets, 1 star), and was saddened to find that after I had conquered everything I had found only 2 artifacts. I know their supposed to be rare, but that's a little low. It was especailly saddening however that both enabled long range jumps without the tech, which was completely useless on that map. (So, if they stay at this rarity, please at least make them "map smart", so I don't get worthless techs as the only available artifacts.
Culture is not just propaganda. Look at America, we love some Japanese items, games, etc, etc... German beers, german cars, things of that nature. China has Mcdonalds now. That's how culture spreads also. So the other planets may find life more enjoyable, or way of life nicer. Etc, etc... too tired to write correctly.
If that is going to be changed I think an option for 'Realism Random' should be allowed, so that sometimes you just have to deal with what you are handed. I think it adds interest to the setup.
Because in a like a year or two it will not be top of the line. Your paying for both show and for power. The advantage of paying more for it now, is that it will most likely last longer. i.e. that top end system will be able to play everything for about 2 years on high, and 4 years at all. If you buy it in a year or two it will go from nearly 5k to 3k, and only have 1-2 years of usability. Money is here for the sole purpose of using it, why the hell would you not use it for something you wanted?
They are from Taiwan. But they do make the most powerful laptop avabile. And for only like 4.8k. Their motto though is 'Portable Power People', or some such thing.
Alienware = Dell, Dell = garbage, thus Alienware = garbage. They overprice like mad, and don't offer much for it. Sager or Asus is the way to go. Though the lamborghini isen't as nice as it should be. The GX series does pretty well.
Don't waste money on Alienware. Sager Notebook is the way to go. Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2GB DDR2 667 RAM 100GB 7200RPM HDD nVidia 8700M GT 512MB GDDR3 (If for some reason you prefer the 7950, you can change to that for $100) 17" screen (1680x1050, for about $150 you can go to 1920x1200) 1GB Intel Turbocache Memory Vista Home Premium Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module Bluetooth Fingerprint Reader Price as config
I run on Vista Ultimate upgraded from XP Pro with no issues (it's actually faster). Just make sure you have all your drivers updated, and all patches for the game.
I decree that since the project he speaks of is a open source project, it has no rights, nor do it's developers. So, SoaSE is allowed to continue, and release. xD
An option is biggest thing I am asking. They are also the closest thing to a random event. A large factor in 4X games. There was no better way to shake the game up than have some crazy event happen. Rebels taking up arms, a sun exploding, ancient alien warship found, etc, etc... I don't expect a whole slew of random events, but it'd be nice to be able to use the pirates to that kinda degree.
Course I guess given that by late game my culture has usually taken the pirates over maybe I just don't notice. In that case, maybe place their system farther away from the sun, like instead of 1 jump, make it like 3 or something. With astroid belts before hand.
I build 1-2 trade posts per planet. They aren't even a bother, planet defenses can easily deal with them. Even late game they don't effect gameplay at all. They are simply there, and not a harassment at all, at best they can harass one their first two attacks to unprotected systems. Otherwise they usually all die before they even get to where they are going.
As is, pirates are nearly useless. I usually want pirates to attack me just so I can get free EXP. I think a simple way to balance the pirates would be to have them attack with more numbers or stronger ships based on how big the bounty is. This would make sense, as I doubt pirates would have trouble recruiting for something like 10,000 credits. This would encourage more use of the bounty system as well.
Very few games should go Open Source, they can allow their editor to edit those files if they want, but the shouldn't allow the code to be wide open. I doubt they work so their game can be given away.
I like infinite economy simply because especailly in large maps (not even huge), before I leave my home star systems are running out of money, and by the time I've conquered the center star, resources can now only be obtained via refineries. Kinda loses the need to drive if you don't get much from planets. Also, I would build an elite fleet (usually 6 Sovas, 2 Kols, 1 Marza, 1 of each battlecruiser), get them all to about level 8-12 and they could never be stopped, because the enemy co
All of this news is fantastic, of course I waited till late at night to look at this. A whole day off and I wasted it on Blue Dragon, wondering when this new update would show up. Also, thank god the Kol doesn't look crappy any more. That's probably my favorite part of this update.
Question, if we have already preordered it is it possible to get the collectors edition? Because I love me some collectors editions. Also, maybe some cards going over the history of the game could be included, or a nice hard back book. xD
I usually go for civic researchs first to prepare for my 2nd capital ship. More reasources lead to more research, more ships, and greater expansion. Nothing I hate more than to have a volcanic or artic planet just sitting there waiting for me to build civic stations, and research before I can use them. But the first military techs I end up going for is armor so that I can increase kienetic weapons quickly. I go for more capital ships, and do everything I can to gain experience for them. They are
Light Carriers are the core of my fleet, I usually use about 25-35 in fleet and just hold them back, letting my high level caps soak up damage. (I usually use 2-4 Kol's, and 2-3 Sova's). Carriers are the best strike force I have seen. Funny glitch though one time I sent an enormous fleet to an AI homeworld, and my Sova's got there literally like ten minutes before the Light Carriers, (no idea why the carriers were so lost), but they took all the fighters/bombers with them, both Sova's
The game is already quite fun at this stage of the game. Though it could use a little more varity in units. For being a 4x game, it seems to be using the scale of a 4x but everything else RTS. (Leveling up ships and all is part of most RTS, in fact most RTS allow all ships to level, and many allow them abilities and such). I really hope they add some design variations, like you can have this style of ships with this race or something, or at least let us color our empire/name our capital ships. (
