I know Brad asked for ideas on how we'd like to see this implemented somewhere else, but the thread is buried somewhere, but here's my ideas for this: 1) Need to add a lobby for pantheon. This way people could chat and set up groups if they don't have a set group of friends. 2) Need to add a friends list option like SOASE has 3) Need to add a form group option from the lobby. Whoever forms said group would be designated as the group leader and gets to press

In my experience, it seems like 1 in 10 clicks on the fight button for pantheon actually turns into a match. Most of the time in the connection info box two out of the four people just can't connect to eaxh other and then the NAT fails. Someone usually just drops out to try again and then you're left with a 2vs1. No one wants to be the 1 so then everyone just quits. About half of the ones that get past that will actually try to load the game, but someone will quit duri

Just so you know I really dont like the fleet system either. I like the idea about a base % that scales in part by the amount of ships you own.
I have to second this thought, fleet supply sucks. Costs of fleets should reflect what you actually own and maintain. I could have two frigates but be spe

Thats what the second micro-expansion is all about: diplomacy. Ah yes, of course. will these micro expansions contain all of the features of the previous ones...? Like, will the Diplomacy expansion have starbases and
I kinda like this idea of making research less rtsy and more tbsy, ie no direct cost involved by slowly, one item at a time with a few means to speed it up. though I think implementing this would require huge rebalancing and is more an idea for a sequel than an expansion. also, it really, really punishes someone who has no current research item on, which one may forget if occupied with many other things.
Well in theory tha

I was thinking about this the other day and I got to thinking that a diplomacy mod should go a long way to bringing Sins into the 4x mainstream. I'll say this first, I love sins and i've played it since way back in the beta, however sins doesn't really in any way play like a 4x, it's really an RTS with a few 4x trimmings. The first major thing thats missing is any way to really customize your empire. I have no real control over the economy as far as how I allocate resource

Wow, one guy is having problems posting, and that means that Stardock is falling apart? Seriously, the forums haven't exactly been innundated with people having problems posting, so it's likely you guys are experiencing a bug with the setup of your browser.

This is just another prime example of how Stardock and their Impulse thing is a scam. Anytime someone gets something that I don't have a chance of getting I know in my bones that their benefit has come at my expense. If I had my way, I'd have everyone at Stardock (except me) shot. I think everyone here will agree th

Solam, I can also recommend checking out the Baen site, they have a free library of books online you can read. Great way to see if you like an author, and they're not all the ancient out of print books either.

I picked up the Revelation Space book once on a whim, I found it just plain odd. Do they get any better? I've held off on buying them because that one didn't exactly intrigue me as much as i'd hoped.

Its not that simple, they know it hurts customer confidence in the product and brand.
Actually thats not as clear cut as you might think it is. There's actually a lot of market research going on right now about how much piracy, and not just in games, all digital m

My favorite Sci-fi is David Weber, awesome futuristic spaceship battles. Also another really good author is Keith Laumer, he does a great series on Bolos, futuristic self-aware tanks. He also does some satyrical stuff called Retief for an interstellar diplomat.

It wasn't long ago that stores like EB had the games in the boxes on the shelf. They would let you return a game for any reason including PC games for a full refund. I did exactly that with MMO3 which a month later they change that policy. The reason they had to change was people were badly abusing their return policy. Today store either have to take the ga

Each race has a tech under their respective civilian tree called long range jumps, or something equivalent that you have to research first. Other than that, the only place you can jump from is star to star, can't be done from the planet grav wells.

Last two times I played MP were way back in beta, got completely steamrolled once by a guy with about 8 caps when I had 2-3, i think it was Schod. Now I just don't have the time or desire to commit to long games. I might try to get in a couple comp stomps for fun because at least strategizing with humans is more fun than otherwise. I just wish the AI was more intelligent and not reliant on bonuses to be competitive.

The way I see it, the not losing bounty against yourself is a check against one person controlling the pirates for an entire game. I.e. you might be able to send the pirates in 1,2 or 3 or more times against a person (assuming 1v1) but after a while if you haven't lost anything, the bounty against you would be so high as to be prohibitive, and you would have to face up to a pirate attack. Personally I would love to see the pirate code re-written anyways. The

I'm not an expert on vasari, but I remember last time I played them, the 1st weapon upgrade was listed as an upgrade that way "effective against structures" and the 2nd upgrade was phase missles which was something that is useful against both i'd imagine.
I think he's talking about which way the starbase rotates on it's own axis. I've heard it mentioned in this thread before, but I think the main problem with SF is their lack of flexibility vs their fleet supply cost. They don't do anything that can't be done better, or at least more effectively by other units (caps). What I would propose is to do something along the lines of turning them into a capture frigate. Instead of seiging planets they could send troops to capture them. Along the same lines they could be used to c
