I consider MetalX and OlympicOS to be fast UIS2 skins, but certainly not amongst the fastest skins. The contest also *specifically* said "fastest skin". Half a point is most certainly significant - 0.1 would be. In the real olympics, the difference between first place and *last* place is often less than 5%. Just wondering - how did two UIS2 skins get into the medals for Fastest skin? Haven't we been told that UIS1 is far ahead of UIS2 on performance levels? I'm sure there were more than 5 skins using UIS1, if only as subskins. For example, I'm kind of amazed that Lean(er) Green isn't in there at all - it doesn't even use stretching in *any* borders, and from what I can see it is slightly faster than Blackcomb.

If you're going to make sections like Visual Styles, make sure it's always got the name of the application in - eg "Visual Styles (WindowBlinds)" or "Icons (IconPackager)". Having it otherwise is misleading because there may be other software that provides, say, Visual Styles on which WindowBlinds skins will not work.

Check your system tray - have you got anything else non-standard loaded that might be affecting the titlebar in some way? Does this occur for UIS1 skins (often distributed as subskins of other skins)?

No. MS bought it as QDOS86 ("Quick and Dirty Operating System for the 8086") when they were asked by IBM if they could provide one. It was, indeed, one of the more significant purchases of this century. I'm fairly sure BillG had a big hand in the design of Windows, and probably some parts of the initial implementation, too. Sure, the MS style is very "hands off", but that wouldn't preclude some of it being his area of expertise, and so his responsibility.

ObjectBar can import WindowBlinds skins in it's latest version, *if* the WindowBlinds skin has an XP taskbar and panel. To do this select the WinXP theme with subtheme "*Use WindowBlinds Skin*". Note that the conversion is not yet perfect.

Have a look in Add/Remove programs and see if it's there. Really, the logitech software is likely to be the problem if it's an iFeel. I think there's a way to disable the movement when you go over controls - try disabling it and then reloading WindowBlinds by selecting Windows Classic theme and then a WindowBlinds theme.

The problem with being specific is using the logos and trademarks. NASCAR logos are copyrighted. If they were used in a skin, and permission were not granted by the original copyright holder, the skinner would be in breach of copyright, even if they loved NASCAR and only wished to celebrate it's existance. Of course, if you wished to merely imply the *feeling* of racing without ever mentioning or using copyrighted materials, that would be fine.

If you can't click any of the buttons, check that you don't have Logitech Immersion Desktop, CommonNames or anything else that alters the titlebar loaded. They can interfere with the chain of message passing so WindowBlinds doesn't get them. Try disabling things until it works, then you at least know what's causing the conflict.

Object Desktop is the suite. WindowBlinds is a component of that suite that skins windows. WinStyles is another component that brings some of the others together (WB, ObjectBar, DesktopX, Iconpackager, etc) so that people can create consistent "styles" using more than one component at once.

I think they are either unhookable or deemed to be too dangerous to hook. When you need to get to them to say reboot, you really don't want things going wrong because of skinning - so it may be either the OS blocking it or a conscious decision by the WB programmers.

Technical notes: You *can* have normal pink transparency in radio buttons. Not sure what the problem is for you, it works fine here. It's designed to do that. WindowBlinds downloads to the temporary folder and then installs the skin . . . at least, that's the idea. Are downloaded skins not showing up in your skin list?

The start menu isn't affected because it isn't actually a menu - it's a toolbar - the same goes for the favourites "menu" in IE/Explorer. Though admittedly, it would be nice if it *were* skinned as a menu . . . Not sure what skin you're referring to, sorry. :-\
