What I understood is that the developers look from time to time in the strategies of the top players.
Agree. There´s surely a file which records the own gaming style on your hdd. Depending on successful game playing it changes the the original game formulas by some extent. And for the best players submitting to metaverse that will be mentioned - but it has to be transferred into a new patch by the developer at first. Otherwise it means that everyone who´
Galactic Knight
Sounds at least to take a look into ;) You are not going to collect me, will´ya ? LOL
I appreciate your invitation, but don´t want to take action yet. Besides Mr. Spook already asked me to join their´s, right at his first reply to my introduction - seems to be competition here collecting newbies. ;) What´s the special functions and advantages of Empires anyway, except for just competing against each other ? Special hints, Bonus material or more ? Naja, die Jungs von der Prüfstelle haben halt Ihre Vorgaben, und die haben sich ja vor 2-3 Jahren auch noc
...or if your screen suddenly goes blank and a text is displayed "A werewolf gnaws on a corpse..." (instead of a movie or pic)and then the game resumes, or the screen just goes blank and the game crashes... (Phantasmagoria).
ROFL ! LOL Yeah I can understand you pretty well... that´s the reason why I recently bought the US Version of Resident Evil 4 and not the PAL one. It´s got nice guts flying around but not too exaggerated... however I thought... they NEVER
Sure it is on gigantic. You have to click a lot, but actually you could find out where the >100 influencers are ;) Guess it´s about to make up for the slightly reduced "real" difficulty (of course you still need the skills to compete MASO, I ain´t yet... ´cause I´m still a small bug... but I´m growing fast haha ! LOL ) YES, I know there is another much simplier way to get the same result, but that one is not a bug :HOT:
Then we´re talking about the same function (I press the top little 4-colored button for details.) :) But this is more than just an "advantage", isn´t it? Well, I now can see that the Yor are the perfect ones to trade with, and can plan further strategies as I see Drengin and Altarians the nearest to my home sector. It´s not the thing that I must complain but... somehow... difficulties less difficult... MASO loses the sense of horror this way... thinking it could even may be fun t
Sure I see, you´re lurking for good portion, as Mr. Spook said: 24/7 ;). Well you seem to know how to handle with language, in any case I have the impression your´s much better than my english. So I´m somewhat happy that I am being "understood" hehe ;)
What does f8 do ? Generally I use the screen buttons and click via mouse.
I really feel almost home here - thank you all again for all your help !!! :D (really did not expect that, as I thought of language probs or no one who´s interested for a 2 years old game with it´s successor in preparation) -Knight
Hm... very suspicious... but you´re right, I should have mentioned that I installed the main game from CD and patched via galciv, not SDC
Playing Version 1.20, already in turn Nr. 2 I could figure out the starting sectors of the all the major civs WITHOUT cheating or disclosuring the map before. I don´t want to tell exactly how I did that but it should be too obvious... Has this bug been fixed with AP or later versions ?

Yeah that´s what I call a gun :HOT: Yes Sir, I will follow your orders *sigh* :D But may I continue to ask: -Can I go with treasury until -500 cash without losing morale ? -Has Planet Quality an impact on pop growth, too ? -Is there a guide showing max. number of population allowed when colonizing a planet, without suffering overpopulation and thus lesser morale ? -How can I determine my success chances in advance, when sending troopers to opponents planets (goin
I noticed a data on my hdd called "AI development" or something like that. Take a minute and look into the folder "data" there you should find it. In fact, there is an AI development, but it´s hard to tell whether it´s influenced by the metaverse or your own playing style or even both. Patching may overwrite this data.
@Peace Phoenix: Jop, I´m at your site ! Meanwhile I learnt 100% doubles the population growth, which determines at the beginning whether to sustain or decease, at least in higher difficulties. Me thinks to take care of the lest moral planets and keep it at 54% in the later game stages is enough, since it keeps population growth running. That and many many more strategic advices for beginners were however nowhere stated in the german manual on disk and booklet (give us those ol
I´ve to pretend I don´t know Wasteland nor Restricted Area. (:( Yes shame on me ! ;p Sadly it´s common to have butchered german versions... anyhow there has been a slight shifting in the official´s opinion over the past years when to cut a game for our market. Still weird... some titles containing a bunch of violent impressions are free to obtain, others not :notsure:
good to know that ! I remember that was about 8300 Mpts (with the other score ~32000) but let´s see what metaverse shows - hope that´s not too bad for first run. However it takes me too long to control everything every turn. Way too long ! I focused on few aspects as I said, but I recognized many, though surely not all. I´m not aware of diplomatic behaviour of all civs. Did only get a slight feeling about their aggression rate. Did not adjust the single distribution sliders, just looked
Got first blood yesterday evening, finally finished the game before it turned tideous on cakewalk (however not yet submitted to metaverse, but game saved last round). At the Overall score overview I had two scores: one showing "pts", the other "Mpts" or something like that. What is the difference ? Anyway, compared to all of you guys playing this game on MASO blindly, I still feel like a small bug but I´m growing hahaha *yeah unleash the Star-Sheep-Troopers* LOL O.K. I will up
You got it ! Bard´s Tale is considered one of my all-time classics. :D I took a brief look into C64 Version of BT1, but then played all on Amiga Version, finished only the first one (part II and III I had to retire - not clever enough for the strange riddles I guess :p) State-of-the-uncommon-art Hack´n´Slay *smile* Oh... I forgot to mention another series: Fallout I + II ! That rocked the ground. Anarcho-style RPG with turn-based strategic moves (fighting / lock-pick
First and Foremost and still on HDD: - Battle Isle II - Ufo: Enemy Unknown (Maybe also known as "Defiance") Others I loved to spend nights on, most of them finished at least on "normal" (no particular order and by far not complete, I´m just remembering): - XCOM: Apocalypse (other XComs bored me) - Battle Isle Series + some Expansion Packs - HOMM Series (except Part I) + some Expansion Packs - M.A.X. I - Civilization Series + some Expansion Packs - Alpha C
as I could experience so far (being fresh flesh to GalCiv) these indicators show how your civ is reputated in their eyes and whether they take you serious or not. Depends also on the difficulty level and diplomatic skills. Guess it reflects the startup-settings as well, seems they´re quite dump - however they love you like hell hehe... I would suggest: Ally with them, these are your personal slaves ;)
Hi beaglegod ! Even I´m a virgin to GC as well ;) , I already can tell you really made a good choice. I have mastered several turn-based strategy games but this one belongs to the very few with a special feeling while playing. Hard to explain, since in general there´s always the key question to like or hate this kind of games, but this one really has it´s moments... it indeed should keep you busy till GC2 :)
Thanks everybody for the nice welcome (i really did not expect reactions THAT quick ! :D) I´m still going with my very first mission lol, even it now takes more than 40 hours or somethin´. :p Still I really did not get the point for calculated cultural "impression" ... but it was quite amusing to see the Yor completely surrendering to me (due to their economic desaster stricking their morality to bottom ?). First I thought it had a connection with the location of own starbases (equippe
Mahlzeit Everyone! :) Introducing myself as a newbie to Galactic Civilizations, I am curious about some parts of the game and -version. I bought the GC just some days ago at my retailer´s, and I´m now experiencing the in-game-strategies as I advance through the game. Which is the German Version 1.05. Well, going the cakewalk on a gigantic map :p And now, as my frustration about the lame instruction booklet is literally gone, I am now looking for clues. You should first know,
