As a self-proclamied liberal, the idea of us moving away from a profit motivated economy is prety scary. Profit by itslef is not a bad thing, it is when that becomes the only goal, whithout considerstaion of anything else that it becomes scary (see financial meltdown). I like your 1,000,000 analogy becasue if I had a ton of money to give to charity, i would probabyl set up a foundation and us the interest to fund things. This would let you do more long term planning and giving.

I feel that this is a very unfair characterization by Draginol. The evidence is anecdotal at best, with nothing to back it up. One thing he does not consider is time. Please know that the suspension handed down by USA swimming is nothing mroe then a slap on the wrist. Phelps was suspended from swimming in USA Swimming events for the next three months. Guess what, he was probably not going to swim any even if he was not suspended. This was his year off intensive training. So basically he was suspended from doing nothing, which was what he was going to do. Makes great PR, but has NO effect on his career or swimming abilites.

Charles, He has actually talked about doing this for a long time. He has argued that we need an orderly withdrawl in Iraq to focus on the people whop actually attacked us (Bin Laden). I would expect to see a shifting of some combat forces over to Afganistan, but not as many as are currently in Iraq. I agree with this idea, as it will shift our attention to the true source of the terrorist movement. Thanks.
