I also tend to side on the reduction of drug laws, especially for marijuana. Does that (or the t-shirt I bought in Minneapolis) count me as a drug user? No. Interesting story relating to this though, up here, we have a "third" (we have 4 major parties, so I suppose they would be a 5th party) party, the Marijuana Party. One of their candidates in a riding next to mine was convicted of running a grow op. In court, his lawyer tried to portray

"Like some people have said, the only major third party candidate was TR in 1912. The rest will be lucky if they get 2% of the vote. " "Oh, and I forgot Ross Peort, but he shouldn't have droped out in '92." What about Lafollette in '24?

Since a 3rd party candidate rarely has even a remote chence of winning (maybe TR in 1912), the only way they will have a substantial impact is if they can get some people in the House and Senate, and they have a balance of power (say, 48 dems, 48 republicans and 4 libertarians), like the NDP in Canada does occaisionally (Though a lot of people might disagree, I would say that the most progress we ever had as a nation was arguably when we had a minority

Ya gotta love a socialist Republican. Yeah. I don't have to vomit after playing as him too, so that's a big bonus!

Here are 2 new candidates from the World War 1 era. Robert M. LaFollette was a Republican senator from Wisconsin who ran in 1924 under the Progressive Party (which consisted mostly of the remnants of TR's Bull Moose Party, the farm and labor vote, and Socialists). Eugene V. Debs was a 5 time Socialist party candidate (1900, 1904, 1908, 1912, 1920) who ran his last campaign from prison (he was jailed for opposing WW1) and won 3.4 percent of the vote,

What about cases of wrongful arrest? Try telling Maher Arar that it's ok to torture people suspected of terrorism. If there's one thing I learned from TV and movies, it's that torturers don't like it when you say "I don't know"

Let's review a couple of Mr. Bush’s decisions to enumerate this tactic. First was the Iraq war. The first reason was that Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction threatened the United States. We had things like a mushroom cloud, yellowcake, centrifuge tubes, mobile weapons labs and specific amounts of different types o

Don't forget the sweeping generalizations about both sides, and me nearly vomiting... I think the sweeping generalization for Republicans and other conservatives is something along the lines of jesus freak. I can't keep up with all the new ones that come up for liberals and Democrats. Loony loopy luddite is the latest, and at least it has some decent alliteration. hmm..condi for pres...interesting...she is definitely intelligent eno

I have a question... I've beaten my first opponent in campaign mode, but I can't move on to the next one. It keeps showing the same opponent and the same game progress (1/10). Am I missing something obvious? Do I need a higher score? Download the patch. I had that problem, until I got 1.0

focus on level 3s in the biggest states in the beginning, and try to not waste a single point of stamina (build capital, move operatives, VP, etc. to use it well). A social security TV ad early on in FL also helps. When I play against the computer, I build up level 3s in big states (15+ EV), and sprinkle a few level 1s around medium sized states until around week 30-32. Then I go to a fairly large state that I am behind in, blast them with TV ads, a

latour: i very much appreciate your comment. are you canadian, and/or currently living in canada? with the ridiculous amount of news sources these days (which, in general, i believe to be a great thing) it is hard to find an objective take on what happens north of the border (or within the border, for that matter). do you have a

Taboo, when you first wrote it, I thought "we can't really be this stupid, can we?" Now, after one day in grade 12 history, I realize that we are. So far, it's only the first day, and F9/11 is a media source, and "we really need a dictatorship to get things done around here that are good for the country. Until they start going nuts with power. Then we'll assassinate them or something" rrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiggggghhhhhhtttttttt......I'll agree when yo
