As to point 1, you don't need to hit the Charms bar and click Search to search. You can search by just starting typing at any point in the Start Screen. Point 2 I get. You can make a folder of shortcuts on your desktop and link to it in the Start Screen, but that's awkward. As to point 3, you don't NEED to use WinRT for anything. I'm not sure why this is a 'showstopper' when the desktop is the same as it was in win7.

I was going to put it on my laptop (Turion X2 Ultra) but I gave it to a friend a while back who said HIS friend is out of work and using it so I said keep it. I was going to put it on my older spare machine (Athlon 64 X2) but I don't actually use that for anything. I'm sure it'd be a hell of a sight better than 7 on it since its got a 7300LE (woo crappy vidcards) but can't be arsed when I doubt I'll be using the machine for anything afterwards either. <p

[quote who="moshi" reply="49" id="3315893"]not that shocking. why would the Office team spend time and resources to develop for a not existing market after all. so when would you expect a Windows Runtime Office? the next version should be 2016 or 2017 if they keep their release schedule. or will they just ignore WinRT as third-party developers most likely will? actually i like some approaches of WinRT (single-folder install, no access to file system by default). i just h

Well, upgrading from XP it basically does a full wipe on all drivers and OS data so it's not going to cause as many problems as it can from other OSes. I wouldn't worry about the difference between upgrade and full install at that point.

I like GPG but Wildman is their first project that just looks bloody stupid. It sounds like it could be a good game, but...seriously? Was this dreamed up by a twelve year old? I would love it if there was any nicer way I could've put that, but as far as I can tell...not so much.

My problem with talking about trolls on the internet is it doesn't account for that real life has just as many. They don't really bother most of us there. They exist. How many gang members do you hang out with irl on a daily basis? Thieves? Creeps? Here they don't have anyone to answer to except local mod populations who can do very little...which is really too bad.
