Looks like EA is giving a free game to Simcity players. Taking a bit PR page from Stardock. Not something that I would expect from EA at all. What do you all think, too little too late? http://www.ea.com/news/a-simcity-update-and-something-for-your-trouble
For me it depends which game. It's stupid when

I think you actually run your city on their servers like it was an MMO or Diablo 3.
Some of the processing is certainly done on their servers (most likely all region related) but I highly doubt the entire city. It took some fiddling around with to prevent it from happening again. And it's not unlikely that future consoles will have this kind of requirement to stop the resale of games.
They might ship with a key like PC games (in theory, since the EU might take offense) but I don't think many will be alway
A console is a different story, because they are designed specifically with gaming in mind. Many PC games now are basically console games ported over to PC format, or they are made with multiple platforms in mind. I own a PS3, and i am impressed with how games play on it. It will be interesting to see what the next gen consoles can pull off. However that still leaves the question of PC gaming, and where it stands now. What happens when the venerabl
How would that kill PC games as Consoles use constant online DRM and even crappier code that sucks compared to PC? You should hear the screaming at my sisters house when she cuts off net access because of the bandwidth limit, and the lazy brats cant even play single player on the consoles.
What consoles are you talking about? Neither the 360 nor the PS3 require internet access at all time

I went out and bought it and already played over twelve hours worth so far. It's a fantastic game, and once the server issues clear up it'll be less about the anti DRM diatribe everyone's going on about and more about the actual content of the game.

MSE does have bad detection, and this is coming from a fan of it. But it also has a fantastic lack of false positives. BitDefender goes a little overboard with the network scanning...it affects legit programs (The Secret World launcher for one example) pretty obnoxiously and I couldn't find a way to fix it without disabling features. The free version no longer silently and unrecoverably deletes, and unlike MSE it supports my WHS2011 box so I stuck it on there.&nbs

Just a poor initial choice of words.Good point. It still doesn't exactly sound like a good thing (why put in the ability to make microtransactions if they aren't going to bilk people?), but it's not as disastrous as I suspected.
Because peo
