I know that Jews call the period of Islamic spain "The Golden Age of Spain" because of the freedoms that Jews (as well as christians) were allowed under Muslim rule, and the progress that was achieved during that period.

"You should also remember that Muslims had invaded Spain, etc. People tend to think the Crusades were one-sided. Hardly. Expansion was on the mind of both sides. The Crusades was an abuse of the Christian religion. "Imperialization" of the Islamic religion was undertaken by Mohammed himself, and is considered a plan-of-action by people like bin Laden and other radicals today." Except that while in areas under christian control you would be tor
fine... moronic and anti-semetic.
I believe something that people do things for a reason. It may not be a good reason, but in their eyes, their action was justified. I get a lot of arguments when I tell people that the muslim terrorists do what they do for a reason. They get all out of shape, "Are you crazy!? They're brainwashed! What do we possibly do that would legitimize their murder?" I have to remind them that I said that it might not be a good reason- I personally
"The benefits of gun registration aren't going to be seen for decades. It's not a short-term solution or proposal. Certainly criminals will still be able to buy unregistered weapons. But the fact of the matter is that if a serious attempt is made to track every weapon from the factory to the buyer in the shop, then eventually the only guns on the streets will be registered to someone. I could be wrong here, but I don't think many crackheads keep their
I don't see a point to gun registration. Contrary to what TV police dramas would have you believe, getting a balistics match is pretty rare, especially when the initial sample is one of the first shots through the gun. First of all getting a balistics sample requires that the police find the bullet intact, and the bullet is often broken- you can even buy bullets that completely break down after impact. Second of all the "fingerprint" of a barrel on
I personally don't understand overtime laws, and happen to know that they hurt more people than they help. For example, a friend of mine works at a job where she recieves an hourly wage plus a commission related to sales. Commissions make up about a third of what she makes total, so its not one of those jobs where comissions are 95% ofyour total salary. Anyway, because law states that you have to be paid time and a half for every hour after 40 that
Despite the fact that they are completely lying... I believe John McCain put it best: "I think John Kerry served honorably in Vietnam. I think George Bush served honorably in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War."
She's obviously intelligent... .which is why to me its obvious that she must be totally conscious of what she is saying. She writes that crap to sell books, like limbaugh says what he says to get radio listeners. Neither really care what they're saying, they're both entertainers pure and simple.
"I also don't think that the way to solve gun crimes is to make sure there are no poor. "-Sandy2 seeing that guns crimes are much more prevalent among poor people than middle class or wealthy people, how can you defend this view? Doesn't it make sense that we should work to remove or at least lessen the root cuase of violent crime?
First of all, I think that instead of feeding the beast with more money, drastically cut the size of the government. The federal budget is currently $2 Trillion a year. It needs to be cut to at least $1.5 trillion, if not something closer to $1 Trillion. This process is a lot easier than you might expect. Some common sense reductions that would go a long way towards this goal: -stop putting Japan and
As a direct consequence, businesses that used to operate in Asia could now afford to employ in the US- WRONG. if laborers in the united states were willing to work for 1 dollar a day, then yes they could move to the USA. People, including you apparently, don't understand that money as expressed in currency, such as the US dollar, is relative. Would it really be so bad to work for $1 a day if $1 a day was enough to pay for food, medicine, hous
This is the most offensive topic I have ever seen. What a conceited jackass. "lets make fun activities illegal on sunday because its more important that I get the satisfaction of seeing the kids learn about my religion then it is for parents to make their own choices about what their own kids are allowed to do".
I would like to contrast two points made in this thread: A) there are several countries that have bans on guns that have low gun crime B) there are several countries with higher guns per capita than the united states that have lower gun crime. Using weapons in a criminal manner and posessing weapons are completely seperate. If you want to significantly lower violent crime, and not just gun crime, there are a few more effective
For libertarians Social Security is a tough question. On the one hand, for the government to force you to do anything is fundamentally wrong. Also, this is money that, if not taken by the government, could be used to to invest or better the persons quality of life. On the other, social security is probably cheaper in the long run because of the increase in poor elederly that would happen if the system were to be abolished. Most libertarians support
IRT Gideon: You dont have to make a 2nd or 3rd choice at all if you dont want, and ideally you would be allowed to have as many choices as there were people running. For example, if there were 15 people running you could rank them all 1 through 15 if you like. The idea is that if your first choice is eliminated, you still have the opportunity to influence the decision of who is the "lesser of two evils". For example, although I support badn
Its important that people have the right to own weapons, and not just for hunting, but for legitimate protection of their person and property. Although we have to draw the line somewhere, I think that there are some reasonable cases where assault weapons are appropriate. Think about it this way- whether or no there is a prohibition on assault weapons, criminals will have access. By illegalizing assault weapons you're making it impossible for law-abi
Hey all. My first post. Very happy to see so many people who support libertarian ideas, although I'm not really all that surprised. The advanced online community (ie ppl who would be posting on message boards) have always been more freedom-orientated than "mainstream" society. Anyways, in reading through some libertarian material online I found some very interesting ideas on how we could reform our election system in order for it to more ac
Hi. I'm very interested in buying this game, and I think I would have most fun trying to win playing as a third party. Anyway I was wondering if that was available as an option. Thanks for your time.
